Ingest begins after an archivist has completed transfer validation and uploaded transfer metadata from the bag-info.txt file in the Transfer package to the AIS Accession record.

In the Ingest phase the archivist processes the validated Transfer package through the Archives' digital preservation platform, Archivematica, to create a Backlog AIP.

Steps

  1. Upload Transfer package to staging server
  2. Determine whether restrictions apply
  3. Ingest Transfer package to Archivematica
  4. Register Backlog AIP in the AIS
