7.1 Feedback About Barriers to Entry - SFDO-Community-Sprints/The-Technical-Collective GitHub Wiki
Focus Group from the June 2023 Sprint
Need to learn tech and biz language, we need to learn these. How can we learn this alone? We need to learn processes and language. Maybe a bonus that you speak the same language. Need to improve our languages. Many will have their own jargons. Lots of acronyms, etc.
Challenges -
- Studying on trailhead and real org is very different
- Documentation templates and gathering requirements
- Communication with team : could we open slack channel ?
- Understand your customer: easy to understand but sometimes tech or acsent difficulties
- Org was not a clean org : 144 fields in an object
- Sandboxes creation: thought it was easier - sandboxes training
- too many admins to use too much: example too much apex
Need hand holding
Understand the culture
I need experience - I am unsure of my knowledge- I need practise - If I don’t put things in practise my knowledge will die
Language barrier:
- English not being their first language
- Technical/Salesforce jargon
- Business/charity language
- Glossary of terms specific to the charity

Idea for Onboarding
Set example scenarios for the admin to work through when they onboard. They can do discovery with the Technical Collective team to show and practice their soft skills. They will build from that scenario in a Dev Org followed by show and tell.
