  • Intake: species, subspecies, reason for intake (including cruelty case)
  • Ability to electronically share wildlife case files with rehabilitation centers during intake or transferring of animal
  • Ability to enter maternal animal of a family group (e.g. a family of raccoons) & Ability to enter litter of animals associated with a maternal animal
  • Ability to indicate if an animal was exposed to a human virus/disease (e.g. Was the animal exposed to someone with the flu?)
  • Ability to associate a document with a treatment plan
  • Ability to assign and track case numbers for wildlife
  • Ability to enter daily process of animals during daily rounds
  • Ability to track assigned microchips to wildlife animals
  • Ability to indicate animal stories that can support the organization's media interest

General Requirements to consider:

  • Ability to alert of possible duplicate records
  • Ability to enter and track tattoo identification assigned to the animal
  • Ability to easily access a real-time dashboard that surfaces all medical care needing to be reviewed or administered during daily rounds on that calendar day
  • Ability to audit an animal's medical information using an audit report that lists missing data in fields on medical record and fields that have not been updated in a set timeframe
  • Ability to automatically match lost animal reported based on microchip or other identifiers found on animals records (e.g. scan microchip and record appears on system)
  • Ability to tag an animal as a stray and have it feed the animal information to a Lost & Found page to assist in locating the animal's owner(s)
  • Ability to track and manage emergency boarding requests, including source of need (e.g., emergency boarding due to wildfires)
  • If animal record contains flag that animal was returned due to a behavioral issue, an automated workflow would be triggered to alert staff that a behavioral assessment is needed.

Volunteer Related (not sure if these would be covered in V4S?)

  • Ability to assign volunteer schedules
  • Ability to report on volunteer data, including number of hours, certifications, and tasks
