David is a 12-year old boy who has grown up in Irmo, South Carolina his whole life. He goes to Dutch Fork Middle School and lives with both of his parents and a younger sister, Elizabeth, who is ten years old. His dad, Jeremy, works at Blue Cross Blue Shield, and his mom, Catherine, is a stay-at-home mother for him and his sister. When David is not relentlessly pestering his sister, David and Elizabeth get along quite well.

David has a lot of energy, and struggles to sit still and stop talking in school. He does better with more interactive learning. David loves exploring Columbia, and enjoys going outdoors; he is a big fan of the waterfront parks and used to love the EdVenture museum, although he insists he is too "grown up" for it now. As most kids do, he is also obsessed with playing games on his iPad his dad bought him and sister last Christmas. He loves his parents, and although his mother worries that his boundless energy could get him into trouble, he has a good relationship with his mom and dad. His mom takes him to the South Carolina State Museum one weekend to get him out of the house and off his "darn iPad," and to let off some steam. She figures that the large displays and interactivity of the exhibits will entertain him, and perhaps he will learn a little bit of information about South Carolina while he is there.

David spots the trivia kiosk as he walks into the museum, and is enthralled by the bright colors and large font. He spies the high score, and being a rather competitive boy, he immediately boasts that he can beat that score to his little sister. He begs his mom to sign into the kiosk with her email address, and begins playing.

Goals:
