Persona 1: Cindy

Cindy is a 62 year old woman who has recently moved to Columbia, SC. She has 2 grown children and has lived in the South all her life; however, until recently, she lived in Charlotte, NC with her ex-husband. She wanted a new city to explore and make new friends. She works in real estate and does pretty well. She went to university in New England in the late ‘70s. Because Cindy works in real estate, she has to be quite savvy with technology, especially her company’s property portal and her cellphone. She would describe herself as technology efficient. However, due to her age, her eyesight isn’t as strong as it used to be. She wears glasses and uses reading glasses for up close text.

Because Cindy is new to Columbia and South Carolina, she has been exploring and seeing different museums, theaters, farmer markets, etc. She decided to go to the South Carolina State Museum on a Monday, since her real estate office is closed on Mondays. She wanted to learn more about the state and see what events and community opportunities the museum provides, since she would like to make new friends in town. As she enters the museum, she sees the trivia game and thinks, “How fun! I bet I don’t know as much as I think I do about South Carolina. Hopefully the text is big enough so I can participate.”

Goals:

  1. Cindy wants to test how much she knows about South Carolina before walking through the museum, since she recently moved here.
  2. She wants to see if the museum provides events or groups for her demographic and interests.
  3. She wants to test if the app is accessible.
