New Game Plus Carryover Editor - S9-L/FMWSaveManager GitHub Wiki

Overview

The NG+ Carryover Editor is a vital tool to manage the NG+ carryover units/characters and resources. The information below will provide the details you need to get started on prepping your save for NG+.

1.0.0 NG+ Carryover Editor

Using the NG+ Carryover Editor

NG+ Unit Info

You can sort the unit names in alphabetical order by toggling the A-Z Sort checkbox. This checkbox status is locally saved for the application even after it is closed.

Name

Change the name of the currently selected unit. This will immediately update the internal data, but the list entry UI will only update after selecting another unit in the list.

If you change the unit name while the list is sorted, you will need to re-toggle the A-Z Sort option for the new name to be sorted properly.

Unit ID

Change the internal Unit ID of the currently selected unit. This lets you modify the unit version to be any other existing unit version in the data_unit_all file. This is a powerful option that's most useful for modding or combining various unit and character versions together.

Add/Remove

You can add or remove unit entries in the list. Adding a new unit will add another list entry with the name NewUnit and Unit ID NewUnit00 to the start of the list. Removing a unit will erase the currently selected unit from the list.

[!NOTE] For NG+, new unit entries must be added to the start of the list because in certain saves, the Palanquin Ship is hardcoded to be the last item, with no corresponding UnitID. Adding to the start of the list will preserve this ordering to prevent crashes from adding unit entries into unit name/id lists of mismatched size.

In an NG+ context, you can add new unit data to force additional units to be part of the 6 unit NG+ carryover group. This lets you use these units in their fully updated forms, even on an NG0 Playthrough. Make sure that the respective NG+ character entry exists alongside the new NG+ unit.

NG+ Character Info

You can sort the character names in alphabetical order by toggling the A-Z Sort checkbox. This checkbox status is locally saved for the application even after it is closed.

Name

Change the name of the currently selected character. This will immediately update the internal data, but the list entry UI will only update after selecting another character in the list.

See the Unit Name section for the same guidelines when changing names in the NG+ Character list.

Char ID

Change the internal Char ID of the currently selected character. This lets you modify the character version to be any other existing character version in the data_char_all file. This is a powerful option that's most useful for modding or combining various unit and character versions together.

Add/Remove

You can add or remove character entries in the list. Adding a new character will add another list entry with the name NewChar and Char ID NewChar00 to the start of the list. Removing a character will erase the currently selected character from the list.

[!NOTE] A similar consideration for adding new characters still exists: Make sure that the respective NG+ unit entry exists alongside the new NG+ character.

PP Carryover

Edit the selected character's extra PP that would be carried over should you start a new NG+ playthrough on the same save file.

Usually, this extra PP is incremented in-game whenever any event, battle, or bonus distributes PP to a given character. This is why there may be a discrepancy when comparing the carryover PP and the character's current PP.

[!NOTE] As a small aside going into the save format for the Doujin PC release of Complete Box, the carryover PP save field was originally declared as an unsigned short, so the max value for carryover PP in the save was 65,535. This was a problem as the in-game max for carryover PP was 99,999, meaning it was possible for carryover PP to exceed 65,535 and overflow in NG+ after saving again.

All versions of Switch/Steam Complete Box have fixed this overflow bug by changing the carryover PP data type from unsigned short to unsigned int, making the new max in the save 4,294,967,295. This completely avoids the previous overflow issue; however, this change is one reason for the save incompatibility between Doujin CB and Switch/Steam versions. The Save Import feature accounts for this and promotes the data type of carryover PP from unsigned short to unsigned int when Doujin CB saves are converted to Switch/Steam saves.

Kills Carryover

Edit the selected character's Kills that would be carried over should you start a new NG+ playthrough on the same save file.

This is not incremented anywhere in the latest Switch/Steam versions, so changing this value through the NG+ Carryover Editor is the only way to make this save field matter. It is more or less included here for completion's sake with the character data properties.
