Event Flags Editor - S9-L/FMWSaveManager GitHub Wiki

Overview

The Event Flags Editor is primarily used to toggle specific event flags on/off for triggering certain unlocks throughout the game. Most of these options apply aesthetic changes by making certain conversations or events play out slightly differently, but a few are very relevant for applying gameplay updates or unlocking secret characters. Read the information compiled below to get a good idea on what's controlled by these event flags.

1.0.0 Event Flags Editor

Using the Event Flags Editor

This editor is simply a collection of event flag IDs paired with checkboxes that reflect their current state. That's intuitive enough, but what's more important is understanding what each Flag ID affects in-game when turned on or off. The following table gives additional context about each Flag ID. It also has guidelines on using these flags to modify different events/unlocks in your save.

Flag ID Details
C00_IMPORT Unused flag in Switch/Steam versions. This used to indicate whether a Doujin PC release save file had imported clear data from the original FMW4 to obtain 1,000,000 Points and the Genji item at the start of the game.
M02_ALICE Set to true if Marisa talked to Alice in Chapter 2M instead of defeating her. Updates Marisa and Alice to both gain a mutual Friendship point when true.
Used in various conversation scenes involving Alice/Marisa to add extra dialogue depending on the flag's state.

Used to affect a small cutscene in Marisa Route in the Chapter 70 conversation scenes. Previously in FMW4, one of Nitori, Alice, or Patchouli would have extra dialogue in the scene depending on whether certain combinations of flags involving these 3 were triggered in earlier arcs. In Switch/Steam, the conversation conditions only look at the Chapter 29M flags to enable these 3 dialogue outcomes.
C06_DAIYOSEI Set to true if Daiyousei talked to Cirno on Chapter 6 instead of defeating her before Cirno declared her 1st spellcard. Changes some outcome dialogue after defeating Cirno to end the chapter map. Doesn't seem to be used anywhere else to activate or unlock any conditions.
C10_YUKA Indicates that the special Master Spark event occurred between Yuuka and Marisa on Chapter 10. Doesn't seem to be used anywhere else to activate or unlock any conditions.
C16_GENJI Never set to true. This flag was previously linked to triggering the special dialogue that played when Reimu ended her turn on one of Pond map tiles. Doesn't seem to be used anywhere else to activate or unlock any conditions.
M20_KAPPAC Set to true if Kappa C was battled and defeated on Chapter 20M. Slightly changes the dialogue that plays from Kappa C during the Chapter 24 conversation scenes.
M20_NITORI Set to true if Marisa and Alice talked to Nitori on Chapter 20M instead of defeating her before Nitori declared her 1st spellcard. Updates Marisa and Nitori to both gain a mutual Friendship point when true. Slightly changes the dialogue that plays from Nitori during the Chapter 20M and 29M conversation scenes.

Used to affect the Chapter 70 conversation scenes like M02_ALICE but was also reworked.
C21_MOMIJI Unused flag in Switch/Steam versions. This used to indicate that Momiji was defeated before Aya in the original FMW2 and altered a conversation scene between Momiji and Aya in ChatList_21Common.

In fact, the scene is still present in the Switch/Steam versions along with the flag check; however, the flag ID stored in the save (C21_MOMIJI) vs. the flag ID to check for in the chatlist file (C21_beat_MomijiFirst) are named differently, so the conversation will always default to the flag OFF case.
C23_KANAKO Set to true if Kanako's Suwa War ~ Central Myth vs Native Myth spellcard is captured or timed out. This flag, along with C23_SUWAKO, mainly indicates which boss spellcard you chose to capture on Chapter 23.

Changes some conversation scenes in ChatList_23Common if set to true.
C23_SUWAKO Set to true if Suwako's Suwa War ~ Native Myth vs Central Myth spellcard is captured. This flag, along with C23_KANAKO, mainly indicates which boss spellcard you chose to capture on Chapter 23.

Changes some conversation scenes in ChatList_23Common if set to true.
C24_GENJI Set to true after triggering the special dialogue that plays when Reimu ends her turn on one of Pond map tiles on Chapter 24. Doesn't seem to be used anywhere else to activate or unlock any conditions.
M29_ALICE Set to true if Alice is chosen as the lead during the Chapter 29M rescue event. Updates Marisa and Alice to both gain a mutual Friendship point when true. For the most part, this flag adds extra conversation scenes involving Alice in ChatList_29Marisa, ChatList_32Common (Youmu slash event), ChatList_39Marisa, and ChatList_70Common.
M29_NITORI Set to true if Nitori is chosen as the lead during the Chapter 29M rescue event. Updates Marisa and Nitori to both gain a mutual Friendship point when true. For the most part, this flag adds extra conversation scenes involving Nitori in ChatList_29Marisa, ChatList_32Common (Youmu slash event), ChatList_39Marisa, and ChatList_70Common.
M29_PATCHOULI Set to true if Patchouli is chosen as the lead during the Chapter 29M rescue event. Updates Marisa and Patchouli to both gain a mutual Friendship point when true. For the most part, this flag adds extra conversation scenes involving Patchouli in ChatList_29Marisa, ChatList_32Common (Youmu slash event), ChatList_39Marisa, and ChatList_70Common.
C40_BEATALL Indicates that all enemy units were defeated on either Chapter 40R or Chapter 40M. When true, this adds an extra conversation scene in ChatList_40Common to reference the total enemy annihilation.
C41_KEINE Set to true if Reimu talked to Keine on Chapter 41 to fulfill the Bonus Condition. If this flag is set to true when starting Chapter 43, the game will give the player another Auto Hint item that will be equipped on Keine when she first appears in the chapter.
C41_MOKOU Unset flag in Switch/Steam versions. This used to be set to true if the old Bonus Condition in the original FMW3 was fulfilled (Reduce Mokou's HP to 0 within 2 Turns to trigger her Resurrection). When the flag is true, this alters the conversation scene after Mokou's Resurrection activates for the 1st time in Chapter 41.
C45_UTSUHO Set to true if Utsuho is defeated on Chapter 45 to fulfill the Bonus Condition. When true, this alters some conversation scenes in ChatList_45Common. Doesn't seem to be used anywhere else to activate or unlock any conditions.
C46_NUE Unset flag in Switch/Steam versions. This used to be set to true when Nue was defeated last after defeating all the UFOs to fulfill the Bonus Condition. In Switch/Steam, the logic to set the flag to true after the Bonus Condition is fulfilled is no longer present. When the flag is true, this alters a small conversation scene referencing the Bonus Condition being fulfilled in ChatList_46Common.
C52_PARSEE Set to true during the chapter end sequence if Parsee is defeated on Chapter 52. When true, this alters the conversation scenes in ChatList_52Common to reference Parsee's defeat.
C59_MURASA Set to true if Murasa talked to Nue on Chapter 59. Currently, this flag does not affect any conversation scenes or character updates. This used to update Nue to gain an additional Friendship point with Murasa back in the original FMW4.

In the present, there exists a character version for Nue (Nue03) that has the additional Friendship point with Murasa. However, in an NG0 playthrough, Nue is never updated to this version since the Data_Updates entry to perform the character update from Nue02 to Nue03 does not exist. As a result, the only way to use the Nue03 character version is to carry her over into NG+, where the game will perform a full NG+ update to bring her into the Nue03 form and apply the additional Friendship point with Murasa.
C59_ICHIRIN Set to true if Ichirin talked to Nue on Chapter 59. Currently, this flag does not affect any conversation scenes or character updates. This used to update Nue to gain an additional Friendship point with Ichirin back in the original FMW4.

In the present, there exists a character version for Nue (Nue03) that has the additional Friendship point with Ichirin. However, in an NG0 playthrough, Nue is never updated to this version since the Data_Updates entry to perform the character update from Nue02 to Nue03 does not exist. As a result, the only way to use the Nue03 character version is to carry her over into NG+, where the game will perform a full NG+ update to bring her into the Nue03 form and apply the additional Friendship point with Ichirin.
C60_ELLIY Unset and unused flag in Switch/Steam versions. This flag was also unused in the original FMW4 and was linked to a planned event (in the original FMW4, this was fully removed in version 1.1.0+) that would have allowed Elly to talk to Yuuka on Chapter 60.
C60_KURUMI Unset and unused flag in Switch/Steam versions. This flag was also unused in the original FMW4 and was linked to a planned event (in the original FMW4, this was fully removed in version 1.1.0+) that would have allowed Kurumi to talk to Yuuka on Chapter 60. The internal logic has a typo to set the C61_KURUMI flag instead of the loaded C60_KURUMI flag; though, this is moot as the planned event does not exist to trigger this internal logic.
C61_KOGASA0 Set to true if Kogasa completely failed to surprise anybody during Chapter 61, with a score of 0 surprises. When true, the flag alters the contest outcome conversation scene in ChatList_61Common.
C61_KOGASA1 Set to true if Kogasa surprises 1 character during Chapter 61, with a score of 1 surprise. When true, the flag alters the contest outcome conversation scene in ChatList_61Common.
C61_KOGASA2 Set to true if Kogasa surprises 2 characters during Chapter 61, with a score of 2 surprises. When true, the flag alters the contest outcome conversation scene in ChatList_61Common.
C61_KOGASA3 Set to true if Kogasa succeeds and surprises 3 characters during Chapter 61, with a score of 3 surprises. When true, the flag alters the contest outcome conversation scene in ChatList_61Common.
C73_BEATALL Indicates that all enemy units were defeated on Chapter 73 for Route A. When true, this alters a conversation scene in ChatList_73Common to reference the total enemy annihilation.
C61_LILYB Unused flag in Switch/Steam versions. This used to indicate that the Lily Black frame was unlocked after triggering the unconditional unlock event in Chapter 61 in the original FMW4. In addition, the internal logic in FMW4 also checked the state of this flag to determine if the player could select Lily Black in the Intermission.
C61_FOD Set to true after the Three Fairies of Light learn Fairy Overdrive. Doesn't seem to be used anywhere else to activate or unlock any conditions.
C69_GENJI Set to true after triggering the Genji event that plays when Reimu ends her turn on the special Pond map tile on Chapter 69. This event unlocks Genji as an equippable item. The flag doesn't seem to be used anywhere else to activate or unlock any conditions.
SC_REIMU Set to true if Reimu's classic frame is unlocked after getting 100 Kills with her before the start of Chapter 56. When this is set to true, this alters some conversation scenes in ChatList_56Common to reference the frame change. In addition, the game updates Reimu on various chapters to allow her access to the classic frame.
SC_MARISA Set to true if Marisa's classic frame is unlocked after getting 100 Kills with her before the start of Chapter 56. When this is set to true, this alters some conversation scenes in ChatList_56Common to reference the frame change. In addition, the game updates Marisa on various chapters to allow her access to the classic frame.
SC_LILY Set to true if Lily Black is unlocked as a fieldable unit on the Switch/Steam versions. The total number of Lily White Points must be greater than or equal to 4 to pass the unlock check for Lily Black.

When this is set to true, the game will update Lily White in various chapters to give her access to the Lily Black frame. In addition, the Lily Black entry will be added to the Gensokyo Chronicle in the Library.
SC_AKYU Set to true if Akyu is unlocked as a fieldable unit. On NG+, the player is always given the choice to unlock Akyu as a fieldable unit, but on NG0, the total number of Akyu Points must be greater than or equal to 10 to pass the unlock check.

When this is set to true, this alters conversation scenes in ChatList_56Common, ChatList_65Common, and ChatList_74Common involving Akyu outside the Palanquin SHip. In addition, this forces the Palanquin Ship to update and not include Akyu as a sub-pilot on certain chapters.
SC_NOAKYU Set to true if Akyu is not unlocked as a fieldable unit.

When this is set to true, this alters conversation scenes in ChatList_56Common, ChatList_65Common, and ChatList_74Common involving Akyu on the Palanquin Ship. In addition, this forces the Palanquin Ship to update and include Akyu as a sub-pilot on certain chapters.
SC_BROUTE Marks that the save has entered Route B. There are numerous checks that look at this flag to execute various routines in the internal logic, but the main purpose of this flag can be condensed into 2 primary effects: When set to true, the game will 1. transition the player into the Route B versions of Chapters 71-75 and update the UI accordingly and 2. update all player entities to their final unit/character versions, as if they were carried over from NG+. The 1st is a given when selecting the Route B chapters, but the 2nd has far-reaching implications once this flag is enabled.

If you do enable this flag and reload the respective save, your unit roster will always be updated to the final unit/character versions, making this an easy way to instantly update all your units. Be warned that saving the game again after your unit roster has been updated will permanently overwrite the save file with the final versions of all units/characters. If you wish to revert them, you will need to use the Unit/Character Editors after disabling the SC_BROUTE flag.

As mentioned in the General Data Editor, this flag is linked to the Chapter Select feature. You can enable this flag to select the Route B chapters at any time. Reiterating the previous disclaimer in the General Data Editor, Route B can only be played on NG+ without crashing for vanilla versions of the game.
SC_BCLEAR Marks that the save has completed Route B. When true, updates Mehko to her final unit and character versions after Chapter 1 or Chapter 74 have been completed on any Route (Reimu, Marisa, Route A, and Route B).
