Custom Unit BGM - S9-L/FMWSaveManager GitHub Wiki
This is a short tutorial that explains how to set custom unit BGM that plays in general battle scenarios under the "Ally Normal" BGM Priority.
- Modding version that supports loading custom BGM from
fmw_dosd/modData/data6-4through LayeredFS. - The
gswsave file to change set unit BGM. -
Optional - Internal filenames of songs present in the vanilla game, recorded at this documentation page. Useful if you want to change unit BGM to other songs from vanilla. Copy an internal filename (string beginning with the text
bgm_) from the reference page and paste it into theUnit BGMfield to change the song accordingly.
-
Make sure you're on a modding version that supports the
EnableLayeredFSmod for loading custom files. This is usually the latest patch release posted on the GitHub repo: https://github.com/S9-L/fmw_patches. -
Create your custom song and save it in
fmw_dosd/modData/data6-4(or wherever yourfmw_dosdfolder is located following this format) with the filename format<SONG_NAME>(<STARTING_LOOP_POINT>).ogg[ex:Yukari's_IaMP_Theme(1.456).ogg]. -
Copy the base internal name taken from your custom song's filename. This is all text before the
(denoting the loop point [ex:Yukari's_IaMP_Theme]. -
Using the save manager, open your save file and navigate to the Unit Editor under the Entities tab.
-
Select your desired unit entry from the list to change their BGM.
-
Paste the custom song's base internal name in the
Unit BGMfield. -
Reload your save file in-game and your custom song will now play for the unit in general battle scenarios.
This is no different from entering the Global Menu in-game, going into BGM Selection menu in BGM Settings, and setting character-specific BGM for your units. The BGM selection process is simply organized in the save manager and now allows for custom BGM.
