War of the Picea Ship - Ruinscraft/mcatlas-history GitHub Wiki

The War of the Picea Ship (Krushnovian: Woar dir Coagen Spruss ) was a war between New Brittania and Grand Siberia that lasted from the 21st of July 2021 to the 2nd of August. It started because Pastelant took one of Spoofysharkie's boat out too far. This infuriated Spoofsharkie, who wanted to punish him severely.

The War

The declaration

During the Serene Duke's/Chancellor's first visit to the Britannic islands, he took a ride in a boat and sailed up to Gibraltar and Lisbon. He ignored calls for the boat to be returned, and soon Chieftain SpoofySharkie formally declared war on the nation. In the early days, the legitimacy of this declaration was questioned but soon the town left the Byzantine Empire and took military control into it's own hands.

Even though the boat was returned, a siege was attempted upon Vod Krushnov but no perms were enabled at the town. It was repelled. The Treaty of Alexandria -white peace and truce- was sent was declined. So ended the first day of the war.

The Cold Period

During the days after, frequent spying was undertaken by the Siberian government- using their own boats. They remained suspicious of each other, and the players of each town were outlawed by the other. During this time, New Britannia joined Atlantic and eventually became independent without a nation.

Battle of Canary Islands

On a usual spy mission on his trusty boat on the 2nd of August, HKB Ragnaroem, Pastelant was led into the main home of the Chieftain where he was killed and made to respawn in a makeshift prison. It was not plotted, and he promptly escaped. With all of his things lost, Pastelant invited the Chieftain over to the senate of Vod Krushnov. 7021 offered militaristic support in a proposed Battle of Shrekenseidz, but this was declined by Pastel over fear of betrayal (it is unknown if 7021 was going to betray and kill the Duke or not). After bartering, half of Pastel's items were returned in exchange for half the treasury (70 gold).

Peace and the Entente

The items given turned out to not be Pastelant's, but were in fact far greater than the ones he had before. Hitherto, he had unenchanted armor and a weak sword, but he was given his strongest sword yet- stronger than the one stolen at Seoul. So, he offered peace -which was accepted- and the nation and town allied. Not only that, but King Knugen I and the Chancellor swore protection and guaranteed the town's sovereignty. This marks the beginning the Britannic-Siberian Entente. It is debated whether Grand Siberia was given a sound defeat or an allied white-peace. Either way, they were thoroughly defeated at the Canary Islands.

Aftermath and cultural influence

Grand Siberia still owes reparation, and Basilica construction was paused. But, the equipment given at peace made the nation far stronger. New Britannia was now stronger with a protector and un-outlawed the Serene Doge and Chancellor (though the town remains non-public). Being the first war of both towns, it became almost a premise for legends and poems as the iconic boat became well known as the start for an entire war. A sport is taking shape in Vod Krushnov called Picea (Latin for Spruce), based on the boats used continually throughout the conflict. The towns remain sort of friendly rivals and diplomacy continues to improve.

Though it was MCAtlas' first war in a while, the war had little influence on the world. Though the town of Stonks is bitter about their rejected involvement and are still missing their chest-plate that was lost to Pastelant when he accidentally picked it up. He has a habit of accidentally stealing things. He offered to give it back, but they gave up.
