Overview

After comparing several options, we decided to manufacture led keychains as our first product in order to the test the performance that the project can achieve in the smart factory.

Proof of Concept

The Led Keychains are the Proof of Concept for the implementation of the Smart Factory. The following concepts are to be evaluated during the validation process:

• The simulation of a real work environment
• Effective Work Flow
• The final product must meet client specification

Simulation of a Real Work Environment

For this concept, a Smart factory is simulated where Led Keychains are to be manufactured. These are made out of transparent acrylic, a led light, Loctite glue, batteries, and a keychain. They will be made by collaborative robots and assembled in a collaborative assembly line. The Led Keychains will be custom-made depending on the client's specifications.

Workflow

Creating an efficient workflow is key to a successful business. An efficient workflow model helps streamline and optimize the process for better results. A workflow consists of the steps, the resources needed to accomplish the steps (machinery and staff), and how these interact.

The Product Meets the Client Specification

The final product must be focused on the client's requirement, therefore, a strict design process is undertaken. The designs will be 2D and are engraved by a milling machine on the inside of the keychain. Designs will be personalized according to the client's specifications and will be reviewed to ensure quality. A Quality Management System (QMS) will determine how the product has to be delivered to the client.
