#The Project
For this project I had originally wanted to use as few parts as possible in the mat to lessen the chance that someone could break something by standing on it accidentally in the wrong place. However it seemed like a waste of such an accurate real time clock module to have it simply display only the hour and minute. Therefore I wanted something with more that 4 digits of display so I used my Adafruit 16x2 Character Display LCD Shield which meant I needed a breadboard to access the rest of the Arduino as by itself the shield uses all pins on the Arduino as header pins but only 4 are essential.
