Buttons

The creators of the buttons have full flexibility in the assets that they may use. However, for the purpose of coherent theming, I recommend using button designs/colours that fit with the overall theme of the game. Examples include colours such as blue and green (which represent a healthy blue planet.) The shape of the buttons are left entirely to the creator as it depends on other dependencies such as underlying panels, surrounding components, etc.

Panels

By design decision, we will be using fully transparent panels in order to accentuate the 8-bit theme of our game.

Colour

The colour of panels, menus, etc is left entirely up to the creator. Each level may have a unique colour scheme. The underlying requirement is that it must match the theme of the level. For example, the forest level should have plenty of green colours, whereas the ocean level should be predominantly blue. Background illustration can simply be high-resolution images to improve the overall aesthetic appeal of the game.

Menu/Prologue Screens

The menu screen should communicate the idea of a dying planet as a result of climate change in order to maximise the effect of serious mapping. The prologue screen should have a “rewarding” feel to it. For example, a planet that is beautifully blue to show that the player’s heroic action has terraformed the planet.
