Level Difficulty

Considering that our game is targeted towards 12 year-olds, we had to make sure that the levels were not difficult so that the player was disheartened, but also hard enough to keep the player engaged. This was done by having different difficulty levels for each level (easy, medium, hard). This also helps cater to players of different skill levels, since some players will naturally be more adept at playing games, different difficulty levels make sure that none of the players get bored. The levels were also made to be completed within a reasonable time-frame of about 3-5 minutes.

Responsive

Our game was made to be responsive by scaling to different screen/monitor sizes. This was done to ensure that every player had the same consistent playing experience even on different platforms/environments.

Game genre

The game genre we decided on was a single player story driven RPG. Regarding the serious game concept, the main concept we are trying to promote is climate change. This will be done by introducing the players to different scenarios that could lead to climate change and their consequences. A story-driven RPG is the medium through which we can educate players, as we felt the best way to leave a lasting impression is to evoke the player's emotions through sincere storytelling. The different cutscenes presented in the game help portray the difference the player can make.
