How to connect to your Porsche Cayenne with VCDS - RichardODonoghue/porsche_cayenne_955_guides GitHub Wiki

Requirements:

Making a VCDS adapter for your car

The Cayenne is based on the same platform as the VW Tourareg and Audi Q7. Essentially all of the modules within the car are VW group parts and talk the same language. The problem is the Cayenne OBD2 port is wired up differently to talk to Porsche's own diagnostic tooling.

The best way to get VCDS working is by purchasing an inexpensive OBD2 extension cable, cutting it open and bridging the data pins. With the extension I chose, it was easier to cut the entire extension in half and rejoin all wires.

The wires that need to be bridged together are pins 3, 7 and 15. This diagram below shows the ordering of pins in an OBD2 connector. You can validate this with a multimeter in continuity mode.

Once you have rejoined the wires and have bridged pins 3,7 and 15 I recommend testing with a multimeter to ensure you have joined the correct pins.

After this, plug the extension into the HEX V2 interface and the other end into the car's OBD2 port.

You should now be able to start up VCDS and scan modules on the car. image
