How to Use Netflix Outside the USA?

By Richard Cox

Digital media has changed in many different ways over the last decade, as consumers move away from the traditional viewing outlets. One of the standouts in generating these trends in new media has been Netflix, which offers streaming media services and video on demand for its subscribers. One of the difficulties in using these services, however, is the country restrictions that are placed on many different regions around the world.

Some have argued that this is an unnecessarily problem that the company has created for itself in limiting the number of potential customers that can be served globally. But if you are able to use the right tools when connecting to the internet, it is possible to circumvent the country restrictions that are made on the service. This will allow you to watch your favorite movies and TV shows without any added difficulties to disrupt your service.

VPNs and Proxy Servers

The easiest way to work around the country restrictions that are put in place by Netflix is to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or a proxy server. These tools will essentially allow you to cloak your true internet identity (IP address) and send the needed signals to unlock the Netflix service. In some cases, users will see an error message which reads “You seem to be using a proxy server,” but this can be avoided when using a Netflix proxy error fix that will allow you to maintain your subscription and access your video library.

Many viewers around the world have wondered why many of these restrictions even exist in the first place. Some would say that there are certain copyright restrictions that cannot be controlled outside of the USA or UK. But as long as you are not selling these videos and making a profit off of the copyrighted material, there is really nothing that is being done illegally. In fact, many of these global viewers that have successfully used a VPN or proxy service actually pay for the services and add to Netflix’s bottom line. This is a good thing for the company, its shareholders, and its viewers -- and so it is really a win win situation for everyone that is involved.

Growing Media Libraries

With the advent of all of this new technology, it has become clear to many viewers that most of the new media is likely to be transmitted in a digital fashion. This means that when a new show or a developing movie is looking for an audience and an outlet, platforms like Netflix are often likely to have access to the content first. Viewers can see a list of which new movies and new TV shows will be available this year, and there is a growing number of choices that are constantly being updated for subscribers.

With all of this in mind, global viewers should not be discouraged from watching their favorite movies and TV shows simply because they live outside of the typical regions covered by Netflix. With the proxy server fix, media consumers in any location can have to these services and the vast video libraries that are currently available.
