2) About
Do note that this is NOT meant to be an in-depth walkthrough of the game itself. There aren't many of English-language resources available for this game, but this page is not meant to be a substitute for that.
For maps and detailed guides, I recommend using the site at https://www.imasaragame.com/yugiohmcgb/ (though you may need to use a translation app to parse much of it if you don't speak Japanese).
For playing the game in English, Bownly has made an excellent English translation patch at https://www.romhacking.net/translations/57/ (a supported version of which can always be found in the GitHub repository).
In this guide and in the achievement set, characters/locations/items/etc. are named as follows:
-
For major characters and official Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters, the common English name of that character is used.
- e.g., "Joey" instead of "Jounouchi". "Dark Magician" instead of "Black Magician". "Feral Imp" instead of "Gremlin".
-
For minor characters that only appeared in the manga and other spinoff games, the Japanese name of that character is used.
- e.g., The rat-like kid is called "Nezumi". Even though that character was named "Nibbles" in the English-language version of the Dungeon Dice Monsters video game, "Nezumi" is the name most players would likely know them by, so I'm sticking to that one.
-
For items, characters, or locations exclusive to this game, a direct translation is used. This may or may not match the name used by Bownly in the translation patch. (They had to deal with memory limits and text-box sizes. I don't.)
- In cases where there may be ambiguity in what item I'm referring to, I will also include the name used by Bownly in the translation patch.
3) Introduction
Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster Capsule GB is a simple RPG game, and is one of the few Yu-Gi-Oh! games that is not based on the card game.
The Death-T arc of the manga ends with Yami Yugi mind crushing Seto Kaiba, putting him into a coma. In this game, Seto Kaiba has been possessed by the spirit of the Millennium Ring while unconscious. Awoken from the coma, he invites Yugi and his friends to his amusement park as a sign of good faith. But it's a trap! As soon as they arrive, Kaiba uses the power of the Millennium Ring to seal the souls of Yugi's friends (Joey, Tristan, Téa, Bakura, and Yugi's grandpa Solomon) into five lead TTRPG figurines.
If Yugi wants to rescue them all, he must clear the five floors of Kaiba's Monster World tournament. And if he loses the tournament, Kaiba gets his Millennium Puzzle!
This game combines gacha mechanics, RPG mechanics, and a (very basic) grid-based battle system. It's a very unique system overall, and if you're willing to take the time to farm for powerful monsters and grind them to a high level, it's a straightforward and simple set.
Basic gameplay
In battle
Each monster has four stats: HP, AT (attack), DF (defense), SP (speed). Attack increases the damage you deal to opponents. Defense reduces the damage you take from opponents' attacks. Speed makes you more likely to dodge opponents' attacks, and more likely to hit opponents with your attacks.
You start by choosing up to four of your monsters to place in battle, and the opponent does the same. You always take the first turn.
On your turn, you choose one monster to act with. You can optionally move them one space (not diagonally), then you can optionally attack with them. Then the opponent takes their turn, and play goes back and forth until one player runs out of monsters.
Each monster has a different attack range, so you should experiment to find monsters with attacks that you like. If multiple enemies are within your monster's attack range, it will attack all of them at once.
When you attack a monster, the game runs some calculations based on your speed and the opponent's speed, then rolls dice to get a random number from 0-99.
- If the result is low enough, you hit the enemy and damage them.
- If the result is too high, you miss and do nothing.
- If the result is 95-99, you miss and fumble. Your monster takes the damage instead of the opponent.
- If the result is 1-9, you score a critical hit. Your attack hits and deals double damage.
- If the result is 0, you score a super critical hit. Your attack hits and deals triple damage.
Additionally, each monster has a different type (Forest, plains, wasteland, mountain, ocean, light, and dark).
- Each monster type has strengths and weaknesses. If your monster is attacking an enemy who's weak to their type, your attack has higher accuracy and deals more damage.
- Forest is strong against plains
- Plains is strong against wasteland
- Wasteland is strong against mountain
- Mountain is strong against ocean
- Ocean is strong against forest
- Dark is strong against forest, plains, wasteland, mountain, and ocean (Everything except dark and light)
- Light is strong against dark (Nothing is strong against light)
- If your monster is standing on a tile that matches their type, they also gain an attack and accuracy buff.
- They also gain a similar buff if they're attacking an enemy that in the attack range of two or more of your monsters at the same time.
Finally, every time you win a battle, all of your surviving monsters gain experience points. Once a monster reaches 100 experience points, it gains a level and its stats go up slightly. But if a monster is ever defeated in battle, it is lost forever! Make sure to save the game before putting rare and powerful monsters into dangerous battles.
Note that the experience you gain is based on the highest level monster you sent to battle. Try not to fight with very high level monsters and very low level monsters in the same battle, or they won't gain experience very quickly.
Outside of battle
There are five floors to clear in total to beat the game.
On each floor, you must beat opponents in Monster Capsule battles. Winning a battle earns you a star chip, but losing a battle costs you a star chip.
You can spend star chips at capsule machines on each floor to earn a new (random) monster capsule. On later floors, the monsters you earn will be higher and higher level. You can also spend star chips to open the door leading to the Dark Master's room. This costs 10 star chips on the first two floors, 15 star chips on the next two floors, and 20 star chips on the final floor.
Each Dark Master room is where the game becomes a mini-RPG session. You're given a quest, and have to complete it to clear the challenge and move on to the next floor. But be warned: If you lose/forfeit a battle at any point during the RPG session, you get a game over. And if you get a game over during any of the RPG sessions, you will be locked out of some missable achievements!

Missable achievements in the endgame:
Basic early game achievements | Total points: 10
Game Start! (1) Earn your first Star Chip
Beat any battle to earn this chip. The easiest opponents on the first floor are the ones without a special portrait (just named "Boy" or "Girl"), or else Nezumi in the bottom-right corner of the map.
Level Up! (1) Have one of your monsters gain a level in battle
Your monsters gain experience points every time they win a battle. On the first floor, it will only take 4 battles before a monster gains enough experience points to level up.
Critical Hit! (1) Score a critical hit in battle
Every time you attack, you have a 10% chance of rolling a critical hit. You just need to get lucky - it will happen before too long.
A Change of Technique (2) Use a Skill Capsule to change the attack of one of your monsters
This is first possible to earn on floor 2. Skill Capsules can be (somewhat rarely) found in the capsule machines starting on floor 2, and some can be found in all of the RPG sections starting with floor 2. Using a Skill Capsule on a monster changes their attack range... but not always for the better. Sometimes, it even replaces their attack with a (generally useless) support magic spell!
Consider taking a look at the monster capsule list at imasaragame.com first to check how your monster's attack range will change before using the Skill Capsule on them. Or just save first, and reset if the result makes battling worse for you.
The Power of Evolution (5) Use an Evolution Capsule to evolve one of your monsters
You gain an Evolution Capsule when you complete the first floor RPG session, but it might take a bit longer until you can use it. Only 21 different monsters can evolve, and there is a minimum level before they can evolve. Evolving increases the base stats of your monster, but sets their level back down to 1.
Only the following monsters are able to evolve, so you must use one of these monsters to gain this achievement:
Monster | Minimum level required |
---|---|
Beeton | 7 |
Squid Ninja | 7 |
Wolf | 10 |
Larvae Moth | 10 |

Floor 1 achievements | Total points: 47
Zombire (3) Defeat Hanasaki in battle
Hanasaki is near the elevators on the north edge of floor 1. He has two somewhat-weak monsters, so he's more powerful than a few of the other opponents on this floor. But even so, it should be easy to beat him and earn this achievement.
If you want to wait until later to earn this achievement, Hanasaki can also be found near the elevators of floor 4. After beating the game, he can only be found in the bottom-left corner of floor 1.

Cornered Rat (3) Defeat Nezumi in battle
Nezumi is on the bottom-right corner of floor 1. He only has a single weak monster, and is the easiest battle in the game.
If you want to wait until later to earn this achievement, Nezumi can also be found near the elevators of floor 3. After beating the game, he can only be found in the top-left corner of floor 2.

A False Prophet (3) Defeat Kokurano in battle
Kokurano is near the Dark Master's room of floor 1. He has three monsters, and is the hardest battle before the Dark Master's room. You should probably gain a couple of levels before challenging him, to minimize risk of losing any monsters in battle.
If you want to wait until later to earn this achievement, Kokurano can also be found on the bottom edge of floor 2. After beating the game, he can only be found by the elevators of floor 2.

Kaiba's Humble Servant (5) Defeat Hobson in battle
When you first enter the Dark Master's room on floor 1, Hobson (Kaiba's butler) will challenge you to a battle before letting you face the RPG session of the floor. His team isn't too difficult if you've gained a couple of levels for your monsters.

A Reckless Guy (3) Get the AT Capsule from Joey in the Dark Cave
During the first RPG session, you will enter a dark cave on the route to the boss. Early on in the cave, Joey's body will be lying down in the middle of the screen. If you talk to him, he will give you an AT capsule.
If you ignore him and complete the session without talking to him, this achievement is lost forever.
Master the Darkness (10) Defeat Feral Imp in the first Monster World adventure without losing any of your monsters in that battle
At the end of the dark cave, you have to give the two demon guards some sake to pass. Immediately after passing them, you are pulled into a boss battle against Feral Imp (level 4) and two Dinosaur Wings (level 2).
Save before passing these two demon guards. This way, if one of your monsters dies in the battle, you can reset and restart the battle to earn this achievement. Try to take Feral Imp out first, and the battle becomes much easier. If your monsters are a high enough level, this should be straightforward. Try to be level 4-5 before taking on this challenge.
Mokuba Cleared (10) Clear Mokuba's Monster World adventure
Once you defeat Feral Imp in the dark cave and watch the ending cutscene for that RPG session, you earn this achievement.

Joey Saved (10) Earn Joey's MC by clearing the first Monster World adventure without any game overs
If you get a game over at any point during Mokuba's RPG session, this achievement is lost forever. You're allowed to save during the session and reload as much as you want, as long as you don't get a game over and save/continue.
If you complete Mokuba's RPG session without any game overs though, you will get the Joey monster for your collection.
This monster needs some training: It's only level 1 when you get it, and although it has high AT and HP stats, it has poor SP, poor DF, and a poor attack range. If you want to use it in battle, you'll likely want to use two Skill Capsules on it to improve its attack range, and some SP Capsules to improve its accuracy. But if you do, it can become a very useful monster for your team. And even if it dies in battle, it won't disappear permanently - it stays in your collection forever.
Floor 2 achievements | Total points: 47
Karaoke Star (3) Defeat Sozoji in battle
Sozoji is near the help desk on the south side of floor 2. He only has three low-level Wolf monsters, so it won't be hard to defeat him and earn this achievement.
If you want to wait until later to earn this achievement, Sozoji can also be found on the right side of floor 4. After beating the game, he can only be found in the bottom-right corner of floor 3.

Wannabe Guardian of Darkness (3) Defeat Imori in battle
Imori is on the top-left corner of floor 2. He has some moderately-strong forest monsters that will be powered up on the forest fields of floor 2, but shouldn't pose too much of a problem.
If you want to wait until later to earn this achievement, Imori can also be found on the south edge of floor 3. After beating the game, he can only be found by the Dark Master's door on floor 1.

The Legendary Fisherman (3) Defeat Mako in battle
Mako is by the bottom-right corner of floor 2, and will challenge you to an unavoidable battle every time you walk next to him, so keep your distance if you don't want to fight! He's a challenging opponent at this point of the game since his Kairyu-Shin (Leviathan) can attack the entire field at once from anywhere. It may be worth leveling up a bit before challenging him, but he can also be a great source of experience points for grinding in the early game.
Once you beat the game, Mako disappears from the map and this achievement can no longer be earned.

Lost Woods (5) Defeat the bandit and Great Moth 1 at the entrance to Moth Forest
During the second RPG session, you will eventually make it to the Moth Forest at the top of the map. This is a mazelike area guarded by a forced battle with a (level 3) Great Moth 1 monster. Once you win that battle, you earn this achievement and can continue progressing.
Log Horizon (3) Get the Skill Capsule from Bakura after pushing the log down the river in Moth Forest
In the first screen of the Moth Forest, Bakura waits in front of the river for you. You need to push a log downstream to form a bridge so you can progress. After you've pushed the log, talk to Bakura again and he will give you a Skill Capsule.
If you ignore him and go deeper into the Moth Forest without talking to him again, this achievement is lost forever.
Perfectly Ultimate (10) Defeat Great Moth S in the second Monster World adventure (Must enter the Great Moth's Altar from the deepest map of Moth Forest in order to face Great Moth S)
Moth Forest is a maze-like area. Some routes take you straight to the end goal, the Great Moth's Altar. Other routes take you deeper into the woods instead. You cannot backtrack, so once you leave a screen, you are forced on that path.
If you take the shortest route to Great Moth's Altar, the final boss of this RPG session will be Great Moth 2. If you go one screen deeper into the woods, it will be Great Moth 3. Another screen deeper and it will be Great Moth 4. And only if you take the longest route through the forest will the boss by Great Moth S, the most powerful of the Great Moth monsters.
Some luck is required in pushing logs, so save before pushing each one. Your goal is to get to the Great Moth's Altar from Screen G of the Moth Forest. You can review the maps at imasaragame.com to find a route to Screen G, or just follow these steps:
- Screen A:
- If the dice roll 0-39 when pushing the log, it opens the path to Screen B.
- If the dice roll 40-79 when pushing the log, it opens the path to Screen C.
- If the dice roll 80-99 when pushing the log, it opens the path to Screen D.
- Screen B:
- Just take the top-left path to Screen C. You don't need to push the log, unless you want to get any items beyond the river.
- Screen C:
- Just take the top-middle path to Screen E. You don't need to push the log, unless you want to get any items beyond the river.
- Screen D:
- Just take the top-right path to Screen F. You don't need to push the log, unless you want to get any items beyond the river.
- Screen E:
- You can only go to screen G if the dice roll 40-79 when pushing the log. Save before this point and reload until you get this result. Then cross the river to reach the path to Screen G.
- Screen F:
- You can only go to screen G if the dice roll 80-99 when pushing the log. Save before this point and reload until you get this result. Then cross the river to reach the path to Screen G.
Once you reach Screen G, just go south to Great Moth's Altar. The boss battle against Great Moth S will be very challenging, but if your monsters are high level and have good stats, you will be able to clear it.
Weevil Cleared (10) Clear Weevil's Monster World adventure
Once you defeat any form of Great Moth at Great Moth's Altar and watch the ending cutscene for that RPG session, you earn this achievement.

Bakura Saved (10) Earn Bakura's MC by clearing the second Monster World adventure without any game overs
If you get a game over at any point during Weevil's RPG session, this achievement is lost forever. You're allowed to save during the session and reload as much as you want, as long as you don't get a game over and save/continue.
If you complete Weevil's RPG session without any game overs though, you will get the Bakura monster for your collection. It has good SP and DF stats, but using any Skill Capsules on it will replace its attack with (questionably-useful) support magic. So think carefully about whether you want to use this monster, and what role it should fill on your team.
Like the Joey monster, even if it dies in battle, it won't disappear from your collection. Once you earn it, you keep it.
Floor 3 achievements | Total points: 49
Exodia Showcase (3) Defeat Kujirada in battle
Kujirada is near the Dark Master's room on floor 3. He only has a couple of pieces of Exodia as monsters, and they are trivially weak. This is one of the easiest battles in the game.
After beating the game, he can only be found south of the elevators on floor 4.

Bonz is on the bottom-left corner of floor 3. His zombie monsters are pretty strong, but have terrible HP and defense, so you can take them out fairly easily. They also give a lot of experience points, so this is one of the best places in the game to grind if you need to level up.
Once you beat the game, Bonz disappears from the map and this achievement can no longer be earned.

Anything for Rare Monsters! (5) Access the rare monster Capsule Machine on 3F without ever putting any Star Chips into the Dark Gate on that floor
On the third floor, there is a rare capsule machine that dispenses rarer and better monsters than other capsule machines, but it is blocked by a man who refuses to stop using it.
There are a few ways to get him to move (including beating the game, or entering the third floor's Dark Master room and exiting it), but there's only one way to do so without putting any star chips into the Dark Gate on this floor: You must challenge this opponent to a battle and beat him 20 times in total. After the 20th win, if you leave the floor and then come back to it, he will disappear for good, letting you access the rare capsule machine.
Simple Engineering (5) Have Billy build a bridge across the gap in Westland
During the third RPG session, you will have to build a bridge to explore the area beyond Westland. Follow these steps to earn this achievement and progress:
- Examine the chasm on the far side of Westland.
- Talk to a child in front of Billy's house in Eastland to learn that he is a bridge-builder.
- Go to Westland and talk to Mary to get a letter for Billy.
- Bring the letter to Billy in Eastland. He will agree to follow you and help you.
- Take Billy to the chasm in Westland. He will build the bridge, letting you advance.
Fireworks (5) Have Bom blow up the boulder in Eastland
During the third RPG session, you will have to destroy a boulder to explore the area beyond Eastland. Follow these steps to earn this achievement and progress:
- Examine the boulder on the far side of Eastland.
- Talk to Bom in Westland. He will ask you to bring him Firegrass so he can make explosives.
- Go to Eastland and grab the Firegrass in the top-right corner of the map.
- Bring the Firegrass to Bom in Westland. He will agree to follow you and help you.
- Take Bom to the boulder in Eastland. He will destroy it, letting you advance.
There's no Water Here! (3) Get the Skill Capsule from Tristan in the Northern Wasteland
After opening the East Gate and West Gate, a secret passage will appear at the shrine where the session started, leading to the Northern Wasteland (Northern Prairie in the Bownly translation). A few screens north in the Northern Wasteland, you will find Tristan collapsed on the ground. Talk to him and he will give you a Skill Capsule.
If you ignore him and complete the session without talking to him, this achievement is lost forever.
Extinction (5) Choose not to run away from Two-Headed King Rex, and defeat him at the entrance to Rex Ruins
Near the very end of the third RPG session, right after opening the North Gate, you have to escape Rex Ruins. Just before exiting, Two-Headed King Rex catches up to you, and you are given the choice to flee or to fight.
To get this achievement, you must choose to fight him here: The battle is just against a (level 8) Two-Headed King Rex alone, identical to a mandatory battle with this monster earlier in the RPG.
If you choose to flee instead of fight, this achievement is lost forever.
Rex Cleared (10) Clear Rex's Monster World adventure
After escaping Rex Ruins, there is a small cutscene and one final battle with a stronger form of Two-Headed King Rex. Once you win this final battle and watch the ending cutscene for that RPG session, you earn this achievement.

Tristan Saved (10) Earn Tristan's MC by clearing the third Monster World adventure without any game overs
If you get a game over at any point during Rex's RPG session, this achievement is lost forever. You're allowed to save during the session and reload as much as you want, as long as you don't get a game over and save/continue.
If you complete Rex's RPG session without any game overs though, you will get the Tristan monster for your collection. This monster has high HP, a decent AT stat, and a lot of vertical range in its attack. But since it's only a level 1 monster when you get it, it may not be worth investing the time and resources into using on your team.
Like the other friend capsule rewards, the Tristan monster is immune to permadeath. If it dies in battle, it stays in your collection instead of disappearing.

Kaiba's Silent Mimic (10) Defeat the Ventriloquist of the Dead in battle
When you first enter the fourth floor, you'll be pulled into a mandatory battle with the Ventriloquist of the Dead.
He has a powerful Blue-Eyes White Dragon monster: Despite being low level, its stats are very high (comparable to his level 10 Grappler). This opponent may may defeat one or two of your monsters before you take him down, if you haven't leveled enough.

When you first approach the door to the fourth floor Dark Master's room, Rex will appear and challenge you to an unavoidable battle. The battle is the same as the final boss battle of his RPG session, so you should be more than powerful enough to defeat him. But you only get one chance at it, so you might want to save before approaching that door.

The Prophecy, Fulfilled (3) Rescue Baby Dragon from the egg it was sealed in for 1000 years
Early on in the fourth RPG session, you will have to bring the egg to a rock on Sunrise Cliff. Once you interact with the rock there (and defeat some level 12 and level 14 Harpie Ladies in battle), the egg will hatch and you'll earn this achievement.
A Friend in Need (3) Get the Evolution Capsule from Téa on the Steep Step
Shortly after hatching Baby Dragon from the egg, you'll have to cross a mountain range called the Steep Step. A few screens into the Steep Step is an unavoidable encounter with Téa, as she struggles to keep from falling off a cliff. Your character automatically saves her, and you're given an Evolution Capsule in thanks.
Change Fate (5) Travel 1000 years back in time
Later on in the RPG session, you will speak with the Time Wizard beyond the Western Mountain Range. After hearing his story and going north to rescue his apprentice Dent, he will agree to help you travel 1000 years back in time.
History Repeats (5) Return to the present after defeating Curse of Dragon in the past
When you travel back in time, your only goal is to reach the top of Curse Mountain and defeat Curse of Dragon. It's not too challenging of a battle: He's level 16, but he's alone, so you should be able to manage it. After defeating him, you can leave Curse Mountain to return to the present time period.
Cause and Effect (5) Get the Evolution Capsule in the Western Mountain Range by using the boulders in the past and present
There are two boulders in the Western Mountain Range (Western Mountains in the Bownly translation). One only appears in the past, and one only appears in the present. Depending on which direction you push the boulders, you will get access to different items.
In order to earn this achievement, you must push the boulder in the present to the right and you must push the boulder in the past straight down: This will create a path leading to two Skill Capsules and an Evolution Capsule.
Remember that you can't revisit the past after defeating Curse of Dragon! If you push either boulder in the wrong direction, or you don't push the boulder while you're in the past, this achievement becomes impossible to earn.
Mai Cleared (10) Clear Mai's Monster World adventure
After returning to the present, you must fight a final battle with a more powerful version of Curse of Dragon. This one is a higher level, and has two high level allies with him, so it will be a tough battle to clear.

Once you win this final battle and watch the ending cutscene for that RPG session, you earn this achievement.
Téa Saved (10) Earn Téa's MC by clearing the fourth Monster World adventure without any game overs
If you get a game over at any point during Mai's RPG session, this achievement is lost forever. You're allowed to save during the session and reload as much as you want, as long as you don't get a game over and save/continue.
If you complete Mai's RPG session without any game overs though, you will get the Téa monster for your collection. It has very good SP stat and fairly good attack range, but all of its other stats are very poor. Note that if you use one Skill Capsule on it, you replace its attack with a weak healing spell, but if you use a second Skill Capsule on it, you allow it to attack in a large cross pattern. This late in the game though, it's likely not worth spending the time to grind it up from level 1 to a comparable level as your existing monsters.
Even if it dies in battle, it won't disappear - it stays in your collection forever once you earn it.

Kaiba's Dark Killer (10) Defeat Panik in battle
As you approach the Dark Master's door on the fifth floor, you'll be pulled into a mandatory battle with Panik. He has three powerful monsters that are all level 20-21, so make sure you're ready for this fight before going towards that area of the fifth floor.

Mokuba's Mourning (3) Defeat Mokuba in battle before the 5F boss
Once you've spent enough star chips to unlock the door to the fifth floor Dark Master's room, Mokuba appears and challenges you to a mandatory battle. It's an immediate game over if you lose, but his monsters are very low level for this late in the game, so it's almost impossible to lose unless you're trying to.

Grandpa's Gift (3) Get the Skill Capsule from Grandpa in Hell's Prison
Near the start of the fifth RPG session, you'll end up in a prison. Yugi's Grandpa's cell is on the north side of the map, and you can talk to him through the cell bars. If you talk to him, he'll give you a Skill Capsule.
If you leave the prison without talking to him, this achievement is lost forever.
Jailbreak (5) Defeat Rou and Goku at Hell's Prison
To escape the prison, you must break a weak wall in the northeastern cell. Once you do, you'll be pulled into a battle with two level 28 Horn Imps, Rou and Goku (Prih and Zon in the Bownly translation).
Be sure you're able to take on this battle before starting Kaiba's RPG session! There is no opportunity to gain experience after starting the session until you beat these two monsters.
The Fierce Knight's Bounty (5) Collect all four Capsules in Hell's Grasslands
After escaping from the prison, you arrive at Hell's Grasslands (Infernal Plains in the Bownly translation). This area has a lot of maze-like twisty passages, so I recommend using a map to track down the four capsules in this area. Once you've collected all of them, you get this achievement.
Through the Fire and the Flames (10) Defeat Red-Eyes Black Dragon guarding the exit from Flame Hell
The first part of Kaiba's RPG session ends when you reach the top of a tall tower at the end of Flame Hell. It's a bit of a maze, but not too difficult to reach the end of.
The challenge is the battle with Red-Eyes Black Dragon, guarding the top floor of the tower. Make sure your team is ready for the challenge, and save before facing him.
Note that the two Saggi monsters supporting him can't attack, they can only cast Spellbinding Circle to reduce your monsters' stats for the battle. Focus on defeating Red-Eyes Black Dragon first, and then the battle is basically already won.

Pot the Trick (5) Defeat the hidden monster in Goropika
You'll reach the town of Goropika in the second part of Kaiba's RPG session. There is a conspicuous jar in a building on the bottom-right corner of town. Inspecting it will put you in battle with a single level 27 Feral Imp.
If you defeat the Feral Imp, you earn this achievement. If you leave Thunder Hell without defeating this Feral Imp, you cannot go back, and cannot earn this achievement any longer.
Explore the Uncharted Island (10) Get washed away to the isolated island in Corpse Forest by approaching Kairyu-Shin without the Demon World Amulet (Abyss Charm)
At the very start of Kaiba's RPG session, you're asked if you want to buy a special charm from the shopkeeper there. If you accept it, you're able to collect some capsules by the volcano in Flame Hell, and you're able to get an extra Dark Magician monster capsule for your collection when you beat the game.
However, to earn this achievement, you must refuse to buy the special charm. When you approach Kairyu-Shin (Leviathan in the Bownly translation), it will summon a tidal wave to wash you away. If you have the amulet, the tidal wave will do nothing. Without the amulet, the tidal wave will wash you away to an otherwise-inaccessible island with three Skill Capsules on it.
Make sure you do not accept the amulet at the start of Kaiba's RPG session, or this achievement is impossible to earn in that playthrough.
Magical Lightning Rod (5) Get Dark Magician's staff in Thunder Graveyard
After defeating Kairyu-Shin, you can reach the building with the iron rod in it. Bring the iron rod to the isolated boulder in the Thunder Graveyard, and it will act as a lighting rod. Then you can safely get Dark Magician's staff from the tombstone nearby.
Thunderstruck (10) Defeat Summoned Skull guarding the exit from Thunder Hell
The second part of Kaiba's RPG session ends when you reach the top of another tall tower at the end of Thunder Hell. It's an even bigger maze than the previous one, but still not too difficult.
To clear this area, you must defeat Summoned Skull on the top floor of the tower. All of the enemies in this battle have wide attack ranges, and Summoned Skull has a very high AT stat. You might lose a monster or two in this battle if you're not prepared.

Sun, Moon, Star (5) Collect the three Swords of Revealing Light in the Sage's Cave
The third part of Kaiba's RPG session starts with the town of Kuda, with the entrance to the Sage's Cave behind it. The Sage's Cave is a big area with lots of tunnels, so you should reference a map to find the Swords of Revealing Light along its north, west, and east sides.
Obliterate! (10) Get the hidden Exodia capsule in the Castle of Dark Illusions
After using the Swords of Revealing Light correctly, you can enter the final dungeon of the game: The Castle of Dark Illusions. From the main staircase, you can reach a room on the second floor with stairs in all four corners. The top-left, top-right, and bottom-right staircases lead to switches you need to open to progress.
To earn this achievement, you must first ensure that the correct switches open (since it's random which switch opens, you should save before pressing each switch).
- Up the top-right stairs, a switch will open either door A or B. You need it to open door A.
- Up the bottom-right stairs, a switch will open either door C or D. You need it to open door D.
- Up the top-left stairs, a switch will open either door E or F. You need it to open door E.
Then if you travel up the bottom-left stairs, you can progress to the fourth floor of this dungeon. In the top-right corner of this room is a passage that is only accessible if doors A, D, and E are all open. This passage leads you to a monster capsule for Exodia, the Forbidden One.
Monster World Tournament Cleared (25) Clear Kaiba's Monster World adventure to win the tournament
After opening the way to the top floor of the castle, you must battle a gauntlet of four bosses in a row:

Grandpa Saved (25) Earn Grandpa's MC by clearing the fifth Monster World adventure without any game overs
If you get a game over at any point during any of Kaiba's RPG sessions, this achievement is lost forever. You're allowed to save during the sessions and reload as much as you want, as long as you don't get a game over and save/continue.
If you complete Kaiba's RPG session without any game overs though, you will get the Solomon monster for your collection. It has high defense and HP, but its other stats are poor and it has a very bad attack range. It really isn't worth using this monster this late into the game.
Like the other friend rewards, Solomon stays in your collection permanently, even if it dies in battle.

Tomb Keeper (5) Defeat Shadi in battle in the postgame
After beating the game, Shadi appears by the Dark Master's room on the third floor. His team is made up of the monsters you earn for completing the RPG sessions without game overs: Joey, Bakura, Tristan and Téa. They're moderately-high leveled, but they're not too powerful so long as you aren't using dark-type monsters against them (and his Bakura monster can only cast support magic, but not attack). This is a good battle to grind for late-game experience points!

White Mage (3) Cast Heal on an ally
Certain monsters cast support spells instead of attacking. The Heal spell heals all adjacent monsters based on how low your dice roll is.
To earn this achievement, you must simply use the Heal attack while adjacent to another one of your monsters.
The following monsters can cast Heal:
- With no Skill Capsules:
- Larvae Moth
- If you use one Skill Capsule to change the monster's attack:
- Mogley
- Beeton
- Toppo
- Téa
- Left Arm of the Forbidden One
- Right Arm of the Forbidden One
- If you use two Skill Capsules to change the monster's attack:
- Hyper Beeton
- Baby Dragon
- Thousand Dragon
Ideally, you'll want to use a weaker monster like Larvae Moth, Mogley, Beeton, or Toppo to earn this achievement. It's not worth spending two Skill Capsules to replace the attack of a powerful monster with a weak healing spell.
Spellbound (3) Successfully cast Spellbinding Circle
Certain monsters cast support spells instead of attacking. All three offensive support spells miss if you roll 70-99, and hit if you roll 0-69. Spellbinding Circle reduces the opponent's stats for the rest of battle, with lower rolls reducing the stats more.
To earn this achievement, you must simply hit with the Spellbinding Circle attack.
The following monsters can cast Spellbinding Circle:
- If you use one Skill Capsule to change the monster's attack:
- Larvae Moth
- Bakura
- Rogue Doll
- Mystic Horseman
- Saggi the Dark Clown
- Dragon Capture Jar
- Dark Magician
- Legs of the Forbidden One
- If you use two Skill Capsules to change the monster's attack:
- Torigun
- Cobrada
- Blackland Fire Dragon
- Koumori Dragon
- La Jinn
- Dark Chimera
Ideally, you'll want to use a weaker monster like Larvae Moth or Bakura to earn this achievement. You likely won't want a member of your A-Team using this spell instead of attacking.
Dazed and Confused (3) Successfully cast Eye of Illusion
Certain monsters cast support spells instead of attacking. All three offensive support spells miss if you roll 70-99, and hit if you roll 0-69. Eye of Illusion damages the opponent based on their attack stat instead of yours, with lower rolls increasing the damage dealt.
To earn this achievement, you must simply hit with the Eye of Illusion attack.
The following monsters can cast Eye of Illusion:
- If you use one Skill Capsule to change the monster's attack:
- The Snake Hair
- Grappler
- Dragon Piper
- Illusionist Faceless Mage
- Exodia the Forbidden One
- If you use two Skill Capsules to change the monster's attack:
- Eye Mouth
- Worm Beast
- Saggi the Dark Clown
You may want to spend two Skill Capsules on an Eye Mouth to get this achievement, since you likely won't want to put this worthless spell on a rare or strong monster.
Sealed by the Light (3) Successfully cast Swords of Revealing Light
Certain monsters cast support spells instead of attacking. All three offensive support spells miss if you roll 70-99, and hit if you roll 0-69. Swords of Revealing Light prevents the opponent from moving or attacking with the affected monster for two turns.
To earn this achievement, you must simply hit with the Swords of Revealing Light attack.
The following monsters can cast Swords of Revealing Light:
- If you use one Skill Capsule to change the monster's attack:
- Mystical Elf
- If you use two Skill Capsules to change the monster's attack:
- Toppo
- Bakura
- Rock Ogre Grotto
- Rogue Doll
- Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress
- Mystic Horseman
- Rabid Horseman
- Gaia the Dragon Champion
The best way to get this achievement is either spend a Skill Capsule on Mystical Elf, or else spend two Skill Capsules on either Toppo or Bakura.
Master of Magic (5) Successfully cast an S-level magic attack (Spellbinding Circle S with Dark Magician, Eye of Illusion S with Illusionist Faceless Mage, or Swords of Revealing Light S with Mystical Elf or Bakura)
Certain monsters cast support spells instead of attacking. Four monsters have more powerful versions of these spells. In the original Japanese version, these more powerful spells are labelled "{Spell} S". In the Bownly translation, they are not given a special name.
To earn this achievement, you must simply hit with any one of the following attacks:
- Spellbinding Circle S, unlocked by using two Skill Capsules on a Dark Magician
- Eye of Illusion S, unlocked by using two Skill Capsules on an Illusionist Faceless Mage
- Swords of Revealing Light S, unlocked by using two Skill Capsules on a Mystical Elf
- Swords of Revealing Light S, unlocked by using two Skill Capsules on the Bakura monster
King of Games (50) Earn Yugi's MC by spending 98 Star Chips in the B1 Capsule Machines without leaving the floor, with all five friend MCs in your capsule list
As the description states, this grand prize is the big reward of Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster Capsule GB! You must do all the following to earn it:
- Beat the game to unlock the basement floor with its rare capsule machine.
- Clear all five RPG sessions without getting a game over in any of them, earning you Yugi's five friends as monsters (Joey, Bakura, Tristan, Téa, and Yugi's grandpa Solomon). If you get a game over during any of these five RPG sessions and save/continue, you cannot earn this achievement without restarting the entire game.
- Win enough battles until you have 99 star chips.
- Go to the B1 capsule machine and spend 98 of your 99 star chips without leaving the floor or saving and quitting the game.
If you spend 98 star chips in a row like this on the basement capsule machine, and you have all five of Yugi's friends as monsters in your collection, the 98th star chip you use will give you the Yugi monster!
It's weak to start, but if you raise it up to level 50, you can evolve it into Yami Yugi with an Evolution Capsule, earning the strongest monster in the game. Of course, that is too much of a grind, even for this achievement set, so you don't have to do that for any achievements!
