Silent Hill: Origins - RetroAchievements/guides GitHub Wiki
Guide by ImStef
Set Difficulty | 3.5/10 |
Approximate time to master | 10-15 hours. |
Minimum numbers of playthroughs needed | 3 full, 1 partial. |
Number of missable achievements | 13. None of the weapon achievements are listed as missable on the official list, but you can definitely miss them. |
Does difficulty affect achievements? | No difficulty options. |
During your first playthrough of Origins, the only ending you're able to earn is the Good Ending, so feel free to play through and enjoy the game at your own pace. However, I do recommend making this playthrough your 75% Fist Kill playthrough, as basic melee weapons break very easily and the melee/ranged weapons we unlock for completing certain accolades will make the gun and melee playthroughs much easier. You're free to do these kill% playthroughs in any order you see fit, I just found this to be the easiest for myself.
In this playthrough, you want to make sure to aim for the following accolades to set up for your next run(s):
Accolade | Requirement | Reward |
---|---|---|
Savior | See the Good Ending. | Moon Gauntlets melee weapon. |
Stalker | Beat the game using the flashlight for less than 3 hours. | Night Vision Goggles. |
Collector | Collect 300 items. | Collector Outfit. |
Brawler | Beat the game with 50% of your kills coming from your fists. | Brawler Outfit. |
Explorer | Travel a distance of 25.5km or more. | Explorer Outfit. |
Fireman | Rescue Alessa from the fire in 80 seconds or less. | Fire Axe melee weapon. |
The accolades you really want to aim for are Brawler and Fireman. Everything else (besides Savior) is optional, but will help in speeding up any future playthroughs, as you won't need to worry about their requirements. Also note that the Brawler accolade unlocks for 50% kills, but the achievement is for 75%. Refer to the Brawler achievement section for a trick to make things easier on yourself.
Now that we've beaten the game once and have an unbreakable melee weapon, we can start going for secret endings and speeding up the process. For this playthrough, I suggest going for the UFO ending so you can unlock the infinite ammo Tesla Rifle, to make your 3rd playthrough as easy as possible.
The accolades you're aiming for this time around are:
Accolade | Requirement | Reward |
---|---|---|
Ambassador | See the UFO Ending. | Tesla Rifle ranged weapon. |
Weaponsmith | Beat the game with 75% of your kills coming from melee weapons. | Weaponsmith Outfit. |
Codebreaker | Input the Konami Code during a subsequent playthrough. | Codebreaker Outfit. |
Alright, your last full playthrough. Now that you have the infinite ammo Tesla Rifle, this playthrough should be a breeze. During this step, you want to use your new overpowered weapon to speedrun the game without saving or using the map too often.
Accolade | Requirement | Reward |
---|---|---|
Butcher | See the Bad Ending. | Great Cleaver. |
Sprinter | Beat the game in 2 hours or less. | Sprinter Outfit. |
Sharpshooter | Beat the game with 75% of your kills coming from ranged weapons. | Sharpshooter Outfit. |
Cartographer | Beat the game having looked at the map less than 25 times. | Cartographer Outfit. |
Daredevil | Beat the game without saving. | Daredevil Outfit. |
Now that you have the Great Cleaver unlocked, you'll need play until you get 25 kills with it. If you're missing any other achievements by this point, now is the time to clean them up, as well. By the end of this step, you should have a brand new Mastery for your collection!
Let me burn (5) Rescue Alessa from fire in less than 80 seconds.
MISSABLE
A near perfect run-through of this section takes ~50 seconds, so 80 is very generous. I'll outline the route below in text, but I'll also have a video guide listed if that's easier for you to visualize.
- As soon as you enter the house, run up the stairs on your right.
- Go through the door straight ahead of you.
- Zigzag through the following furniture in a serpentine pattern, then simply walk up to Alessa.
- Zigzag back through the furniture in the opposite direction.
- After the cutscenes, curve around the chair on your left.
- Curve around the couch on your right.
- Turn left and go through the doorway.
- Run straight, then hook a left and run out of the front door.

Make a save before entering the 1F Doctor's Office in the Hospital otherworld!
This is an incredibly easy no damage achievement, as you can simply melee stunlock the Straight-Jacket to death. As soon as the fight starts, prep yourself to melee and attempt to start swinging. If it grabs on to you, don't mash! Just wait for the prompts to show up. If you hit both successfully the grab won't count as damage. Once it falls over, make sure to stomp it for a quick execution!

Warning
Make a save before entering the Female Seclusion in the Sanitarium Otherworld!
Another pretty easy no damage achievement. There's plenty of room in the cell to run around and keep Momma on the opposite side of the room from you, even when she's attacking. I used the shotgun and it took about 10 or so shots to kill her.
Flauros II (10) Take the Past Piece in Sanitarium.
STORY RELATED
Just like the first piece, this will be on the floor after defeating the Momma boss. Pick it up and the achievement is yours.
Lisa Garland (5) Let's get the hell out of this crazy town... We could be so good together...

This will unlock after chatting with Lisa inside the theater.
Service Pistol (5) Take the Service Pistol.
MISSABLE
This weapon can be found in the Director's Office of the Artaud Theater.
Hunting Rifle (5) Take the Hunting Rifle.
MISSABLE
This weapon can be found in the hallway outside of the 2F Storage in Artaud Theater Otherworld.
Sun Totem (5) Unlock the door with two square holes without accessing the Balcony Corridor in Artaud Theater. (Starting on the first Ariel)
MISSABLE
This achievement requires you to perform a speedrun skip to get past the specified door with only the Sun Totem in your inventory. Thankfully, this skip is extremely easy to pull off and only takes a few minutes to earn this achievement.
- The path starts as soon as you step foot in the hallway outside of the dressing rooms, green room, etc. When you take a few steps in, the mannequin (Ariel) inside will come to life and attack you.
- After dealing with it, make your way down to the Director's Office in the same hallway and grab the Sun Totem from inside.
- Go back to where you dispatched the first Ariel and enter the Men's Dressing Room. Interact with the mirror inside to travel to the otherworld.
- Exit the room and make your way to the south-east staircase (just right of the Cloak Room on the map).
- Climb to the top and enter the next room where the door we're looking for is located.
- Deal with the Ariel, then slot the Sun Totem into the right hole.
- Now, to perform the skip, all you need to do is go back to the staircase and immediately re-enter the room with the door. That's it.
- The door will unlock and you can walk right through for your achievement!
Theatre of Cruelty (5) Solve the theater spotlight puzzle.

Caliban (10) Kill Caliban without taking damage and without equipping an unlockable weapon in Artaud Theater.
MISSABLE
COMBAT
Warning
Make a save before entering the ice cave scene on the Stage in the Theater!
Another boss, another easy no damage achievement. Unlike the previous bosses, we're going to have to bait Caliban to attack before we shoot him. The best way is to get some distance, adjust your camera towards him, then run at him and to the side so he charge past you. Once he does, run up to him and load 2 shotgun blasts into his body. It took ~12-14 shots to put him down for good.
Flauros III (10) Take the Falsehood Piece in Artaud Theatre.
STORY RELATED
After defeating Caliban, this will be on the floor in front of you. Scoop it up for the achievement.
Assault Rifle (5) Take the Assault Rifle.
MISSABLE
This weapon can be found on the cardboard cutout in Andy's Book Store.
Redeemer (5) Take the Redeemer.
MISSABLE
The final weapon of the game can be found in 1F Room 108 at the Riverside Motel.
A stalker!? (5) Look through a specific peephole in Riverside Motel.
MISSABLE
This is found at the very end of the Maintenance Tunnel in the Riverside Hotel, when the camera transitions to show you a note and a key lying on the table. On the left side of the screen will be a hard-to-see peephole you can interact with. I'm looking at it in the screenshot below.
The Butcher (10) Kill the Butcher without taking damage and without equipping an unlockable weapon in Riverside Motel.
MISSABLE
COMBAT
Warning
Make a save before entering the Kitchen in the Riverside Motel!
Once again, a boss fight with a very easy no damage. All you need to do is loop the Butcher around the long table in the center of the screen and take shots at him when you have a direct line of fire. I used the Rifle and it took exactly 13 shots to put him down. Even when he got close to me, he didn't really attempt to attack.
The Laundry (5) Solve the Washing Machine Puzzle in Riverside Motel.

COMBAT
Warning
Make a save right after entering Room 500 in the Riverside Motel!
Compared to most other bosses in the game, this is by far the hardest to no damage. Not because it's a difficult boss by any means, but because it's extremely easy for the boss to spit on you, especially after getting grabbed by his tentacles. I HIGHLY recommend using your Redeemer and Assault Rifle. The method that ended up working for me went as follows:
- As soon as the fight starts, run to the left corner, pray the tentacles don't come down, and lay 4 Redeemer shots into him. If you go for 5+ you're very likely to get hit.
- Run side to side and bait out his spit attack, then reload the Redeemer from your inventory.
- Run to the right corner and repeat the last few steps.
- Run to the left corner and repeat. You should now be out of Redeemer ammo.
- Quickly switch to your Assault Rifle and lay roughly half of the clip into him to kill him.
Flauros IV (10) Take the Truth Piece in Riverside Motel.

Like all of the other pieces, this will be on the floor in front of you after killing Sad Daddy.
Flauros V (10) Take the Present Piece in Alchemilla Hospital and solve the puzzle.

Warning
Make a save right after crawling through the long tunnel in the Green Lion!
This is another boss that can cost you a few attempts, simply because of its wacky fire rain attack. The hitboxes on that attack are a bit wider than the circles on the floor, and it's very easy to accidentally walk into one or get cornered. My best recommendation is as soon as you see it prep for that attack, run a few steps in one direction, then quickly run in a different one. More often than not, this would trick the orbs into spawning behind me, allowing me to safely run in a small circle. I recommend using the Assault Rifle for this fight. It will take roughly 6 full clips to kill the boss.
We'll call her Cheryl (50) Get the Good Ending.
STORY RELATED
This is the default ending of the game and will unlock simply for defeating the final boss. You're locked into this one on your first playthrough no matter what you do.
Serial Killer (25) Get the Bad Ending.
This ending is only possible on an NG+ save file. In order to earn the bad ending, you simply need to kill 100+ enemies, then kill Alessa's Dream. That's it!
The Crescent Moon (5) Take the Room 502 key.
This key is required for the UFO ending and only spawns on an NG+ save file. You can find it as soon as you wake up in town. Run over to the Post Office and you'll notice a fire escape you can run up. Head to the top to find the key on the floor, next to a moth covered door.
Ruff Ruff (25) Get the UFO Ending.
This ending is only possible on an NG+ save file. After collecting the 502 Key, play through the game until you reach the Riverside Motel. Continue through this area until you use the mirror in room 503 to return to the normal world. As soon as you do, exit the room and interact with the door to room 502. Use the key and the ending will play!

Twoback (25) Kill 250 enemies. (No NG+)
COMBAT
Unlike the item achievements, you will have to seriously go out of your way for this one. I killed 99% of enemies I came across, as well as a bit of farming during the street sections when I was exploring for items to collect, and even with all of that I still needed ~50-60 kills by the time I reached the Otherworld Streets section of the game. I highly recommend farming up to ~200-220 kills before you enter the Riverside Motel. Doing that should net you the 250, or at least close to, if you kill everything in the Motel. If you end up like me and still need kills by the time you hit the Otherworld Streets, I recommend running up and down Simons and farming Twobacks, as they can easily be melee stunlocked.
Health Drink (5) Take 50 items.
COLLECTIBLE

Energy Drink (5) Take 100 items.
COLLECTIBLE
See Ampoule for more info.
First Aid Kit (10) Take 175 items.
COLLECTIBLE
See Ampoule for more info.
Ampoule (25) Take 300 items.
COLLECTIBLE
300 items is actually a fairly generous amount to collect, assuming you're very thorough in searching all of the areas and rooms in the game. I recommend attempting this on the same playthrough you go for every collectible, as each note counts as an item, so that's just 50 free pick-ups. If you do it that way and ensure you collect every single item you come across, you'll have this unlocked early into the Riverside Motel section of the game.
Parking Ticket (5) Take 10 notes.
COLLECTIBLE
Refer to the collectible guide below for a list of every note in the game.
Child's Drawing (10) Take 25 notes.
COLLECTIBLE
Refer to the collectible guide below for a list of every note in the game.
Yellowed Page (25) Take all 50 notes.
COLLECTIBLE
Refer to the collectible guide below for a list of every note in the game.
Codebreaker (5) Do the Konami code anytime during a subsequent playthrough.
On any NG+ save file, simply enter ⇧⇧⇩⇩⇦⇨⇦⇨BA. I didn't need to hit Start at the end, but if for some reason that code doesn't work, try that.
Stalker (10) Finish the game using the flashlight for less than 3 hours.
I recommend turning up the brightness a bit to make this easier. Thankfully, the flashlight really isn't all that necessary to see or progress through the game. At various points, usually after cutscenes, the flashlight will automatically turn on. Make sure to pay attention for this and turn it off as necessary. Alternatively, you can leave the flashlight on and simply earn this in an NG+ run as those shouldn't last more than 2 hours, if that.
Fireman (10) Finish the game rescuing Alessa from fire in less than 80 seconds.
Refer to Let Me Burn for more info. Simply finish the game in the same run to earn this.
Explorer (10) Finish the game travelling a distance greater than 22.5 km.
This will likely come naturally on your first playthrough, as you explore the game for items and collectibles. On my first run, I ended with just over 33km travelled.
Collector (10) Finish the game collecting more than 300 items.
Refer to Ampoule for more info. Simply finish the game in the same playthrough to earn this.
Sprinter (25) Finish the game in less than 2 hours.
2 hours is a very generous amount of time to finish the game. On my 2nd playthrough, I wasn't trying to speedrun and ended up finishing in 1 hour and 19 minutes, simply because I knew what I was doing the second time around. On a serious attempt, I ended in 57 minutes, and that was without using the Track Suit or map, and making quite a few mistakes. I highly recommend finishing the UFO ending before you attempt this, as the weapon you get from that has infinite ammo and melts pretty much everything in your path.
Sharpshooter (10) Finish the game killing at least 75% of enemies with firearms.
I recommend completing the UFO ending before attempting this, as it unlocks a Tesla Rifle gun that has infinite ammo and kills almost every enemy in the game very fast. Simply go through blasting everything in your path and the achievement is yours!
Weaponsmith (10) Finish the game killing at least 75% of enemies with melee weapons.
I recommend attempting this after completing the game once, as you'll unlock the Moon Gauntlets. These things can kill pretty much everything in the game in 2 swings. Just make sure you get the kill while punching and not by stomping on them! The Great Cleaver is also a great weapon choice, but you'd need to complete the Bad Ending o NG+ to unlock it.
Brawler (25) Finish the game killing at least 75% of enemies with fists.
This achievement sounds harder than it is, thanks to the fact that we can abuse the stomp mechanic. I actually played my entire first playthrough fisting everything in my path (besides bosses and larger enemies), and had minor issues getting through. However, you can use melee weapons/guns to drop enemies on to the floor, go into your inventory and unequip the weapon, then stomp them to death. Stomping an enemy (as long as it's your foot) counts as a fist kill.
Cartographer (10) Finish the game looking at map less than 25 times.
After beating the game once or twice, this really isn't as hard as it sounds. By that point you should know decently well where to go and what to grab to progress. To make life easier, I've listed maps of every area in the game at the bottom of the page for reference. You can also watch my video in the Sprinter section (or anyone else's speedrun) alongside your playthrough. Simply pause the game, watch where I/they go and copy the route.
Daredevil (25) Finish the game without saving.
Much like a lot of the other accolade achievements, this one is incredibly easy after a playthrough or 2. I recommend pairing this with your 2 hour speedrun attempt, as you'll likely be skipping save points during that, anyways. Just make sure you have a full hour or two to commit to the run!
The Lonely Moon (5) Kill 25 enemies using the Moon Gauntlets without returning to the main menu.
COMBAT
The Moon Gauntlets are unlocked after completing the default Good Ending. It will automatically be in your inventory when you start an NG+ run. Simply equip them and get 25 kills in a single session. A great place to farm kills if you need to is just after the hospital. Head over to Town Hall and run around it clockwise. A full loop will net you 3 Straight-Jacket kills and you can just keep running in a circle.
911 Emergency (5) Kill 25 enemies using the Fire Axe without returning to the main menu.
COMBAT
The Fire Axe is unlocked after completing a run where you saved Alessa in 80 seconds or less. It will automatically be in your inventory when you start an NG+ run. Simply equip it and get 25 kills in a single session. A great place to farm kills if you need to is just after the hospital. Head over to Town Hall and run around it clockwise.
