A mini-sequel to EarthBound, starring Mr. Saturn and Jeff. Short but sweet, Hat Quest is one of the most advanced hacks released to date. It’s also the first finalized hack to make liberal use of map editing, advanced event-based changes, and a bevy of other recent discoveries. This game was made with classic puzzle adventure games in mind, so expect a lot of old-school LucasArts-style action. Released by Mr. Tenda in 2005.

Quest of Hat features a few game breaking bugs, here are most of the ones players have encountered. The solution for all of these is either reload or start from the beginning.

• Dropping the following key items: Envelope, ATM Card, Small Key, Paino Spray, ID Card, Whiskey, Tomato Juice, Glasses, Car Keys, Fork, Titanium Key, Bad Key Machine, Cheese, Red Sword, Dusty Key
• Exiting the room behind the waterfall without talking to Hint Guy
• Walking behind Everdred in his house.
• The mouse outside Everdred's house doesn't move to the nearby tree.
• Inventory full upon recieving a key item.
• Dying to the final boss.

Buying the Peanut Cheese Bar from the Mr. Saturn at the start of the game glitches the game into haivng you keep your cash post-mugging. Alternatively, once you have an ATM Card, ring the Saturn Save Foundation after acquiring the paino spray and they will transfer infinite money into your account. Thanks guys!

Interact with hat on the table.

Exit the house and get the number for the Saturn Save Foundation and your first photo. Talk to the Mr. Saturn beside the hot spring sign to get a cup of Coffee. Head left and through the cave, talk to the Mr. Saturn at the foot of the ladder who tell's you the password for a door behind a waterfall. Talk to the Mr. Saturn by the left exit and buy a Peanut Cheese Bar. Buying this now could be essential to holding onto your cash later. It's taking up valuable inventory space, however, so eat it and continue. Exit the cave on the left. Exit Saturn Valley from the entrance south, walk through the cave to the left until you reach Grapefruit Falls.

You need to talk to this Mr. Saturn to gain access to the next area

Walk behind the waterfall to the north, when prompted to say the password, wait for 3 minutes. Inside, talk to the Hint Guy to get Dr. Andonuts's number. Walk back to your house and give Jeff a call.

Patient Password (1)

Once you get this prompt, relax for 3 minutes. If you don't get it, go back and talk to Mr. Saturn

Exit the house and go south.

Head to the centre of town to get your second photo and talk to Dr. Andonuts, who will bring you to Onett.

What a Ride! (3)

Head up towards the police barricade and defeat the guard. Talk to the mayor to receive the envelope. Head down the path to Twoson, picking up a Hamburger from a present on your way.

Buy an ATM card for $5. After a scene, talk to Jeff and have him open the lock on the door.

Make your way to Door C. Take the key from the bin. Exit Room C and head through the doors to Door H. Use the key on the door.

Factory Guide, Get the key from behind door C to unlock door H

Exit the house and talk to the kids. Leave Burglin Park and head up to the northmost house in the city. Head to the first room on the second floor and speak to the robot.

Mayah (3)

You need to talk to the kid on the right to enter the Mayor's House.

Exit the house and head to the department store. Go up 2 floors and buy a bottle of Windex from the clerk. Talk to the kid at the arcade machine closest to the window for a photo. Head outside and downtown to Apple Kid's house. Trade the windex for Paino Spray.

Head to Golden Day and examine the Paino Spray in your inventory. You'll notice the label is mispelled and says "Piano Spray". After learning this, spray it on the pianist.

Talk to the grey-haired man and then head to the hospital to the north, talk to the identical grey haired man on the second floor.

Mugsy (1)

Head to Polestar across the road from the park for a missable photo. The other 3 photo ops you need here are;

1.) Examine the sign outside apple kid's house

2.) Outside the theatre

3.) Talk to the boy on the top floor of the dept. store.

There's an item box south of Twoson far down the road that contains a Skip Sandwich. Lastly, check in on Orange Kid.

Back at Golden Day, use the paino spray on the man across the table from the grey haired man. Mug him and head to the pizzeria south of the bar. Open the present for a cookie, then go through the left door. Talk to the prisoner then go back to the bar and use your ID card to get whiskey. Bring it back to the prisoner. Leave the pizzeria and return to the house you entered Twoson from. Give Everdred your small key and exit Burglin Park.

Identity Theft (3)

Head for the hotel and use the Paino Spray on the hotel receptionist to rest. Pick up the Tomato Juice from the hotel room and return to Everdred's house. Buy and eat a Banana from the banana vendor in the park for an optional achievement. Pick up a Big Battery and a Jar of Hot Sauce from the vendors too while you're here. Try not to talk to the vendor second from the left, he will give you a For Sale Sign that you can't drop. It's not softlock-inducing, but it could be a bit of a headache if you're struggling with inventory management. Talk to Everdred and use the key he gives you to open the door to the factory. If you're having trouble opening the door using the key, keep trying - the hit detection on the door is a bit off but you can definitely open it.

Head down the ladder and head right. Head up the ladder.

Underground (3)

Exit the house and head south to Onett Town. Head south down the road from the man and the car towards the hotel for what should be your last photo op. If its not triggering for you, examine the sign outside the hotel.

Photogenic (5)

Head to the bakery below you. Give the jar of hot sauce to the cashier and open the presents, specifically the Glasses and the Fork in the boxes to the left. DO NOT DROP THE FORK, IT IS A KEY ITEM. Head to the cliff to the west of town and use the fork on the first box.

Too Hot to Handle (3)

Inspect the bin beside the pizzeria for an item. Go left for another. Go back up to Chet Hanks by the car in the north part of town and give him the Glasses. Talk to him. Check the car for a ticket and keys, DO NOT DROP THESE KEYS, THEY ARE A KEY ITEM. Head to the cliff to the west of town to use they Keys on the second box. Head back to Twoson using the Titanium Key.

Enter the movie threatre and show the lady your ticket. See both movies before exiting the back door. Head back to Onett.

Double Feature

A man outside a house on the west side of town will ask you some questions before letting you past. Answers are as follows: McMurphy, 1164, Mr. A, Open it, Bat, Baskerville, Carla. Give the Big Battery to the kid inside, leave and return to open the present for a Bad Key Machine. Enter 10135 into the Improbability Drive to gain access to the Pizzeria. Head to the cliff west of town and use the bad key machine on the rightmost box.

Inventor Kid's House | Present #10

Head to the pizzeria to the south-east of the kid's house and pick up the cheese outside. DO NOT DROP THIS CHEESE OR YOU ARE TOAST. Enter and buy the Red Sword. In the southwest corner of town, use the following items on the three usable boxes if you haven't already: Fork, Keys, Bad Key Machine. Approach the remaining obstacle, the red rabbit, and use the red sword on it. Head back to Twoson.

Keys to Success (5)

Give the cheese to the mouse by the tree in Burglin Park to recruit him, return to the house on the cliff in Onett.

Check the rock by the door for a key and use it to enter the house. Check the mousehole to receive the Dusty Key. Be sure you have a free inventory space before entering this house.

Piece of Cheese (3)

Enter the basement. SAVE YOUR GAME, THERE ARE ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE FINAL BOSS THAT CAN BE MISSED Check the box and use the dusty key on the door in the save room 4 times to open it. Fight the Chimneysweep normally, during the pokey battle use Tomato Juice and then Red Sword to defeat him.
