Paper Mario (Nintendo 64) - RetroAchievements/guides GitHub Wiki

enter image description here

Welcome to the achievement guide for Paper Mario! This is a really lenghty but fun set and I hope this guide will help you master this game.

1) Overview

Set difficulty | 6/10: lots of collectables and some missables

Minimum numbers of playthroughs needed: | 1

Number of missable achievements:| 19

Does difficulty affect achievements: | No difficulty

Hardest achievement of the set: | Encyclopedia (50)

Most of the missable achievements are about defeating chapter bosses in some unique way, collectables or specific story events such as the "Why Spike?"

2) Walkthrough

Grind/Miscellaneous achievements

MISSABLE!

Encyclopedia (50)

Do a tattle to all enemies

Easily the most challenging and time consuming achievement of the set. You need to tattle with Goombario all the 110 enemies of the game. It's very easy to forget to tattle even one missable enemy, but luckily, there's a list of all the enemies from each chapter made by "Lycanroc" https://retroachievements.org/viewtopic.php?t=4701&c=133026#133026.

You can copy this list on a .txt file and mark every enemy you tattled so far so you don't lose track of anything.

Star Piece Collector (25) and Star Man (50)

Collect 80 star pieces/Collect all 160 Star Pieces

Another annoying collectable, but at least this time there's nothing missable. This guide is very organized and also in chapter order: www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Star_Pieces_in_Paper_Mario

If you don't know which star piece you're missing, go to Merluvlee and try asking her.

Pop Quiz (1) and Quiz Master (25)

Answer your first Chuck Quizmo question/Answer all 64 of Chuck Quizmo questions

This is strictly connected to the star pieces achievements, since you obtain 64 of them through quizmo's questions. You can find all the answers here: https://www.mariowiki.com/Chuck_Quizmo#List_of_questions_and_answers Here's a good way to get Quizmo to spawn:

  1. Need Super Hammer for access to the 3 blue pipes in Toad Town Sewers (Desert, Koopa, Goomba pipes)

  2. Go down right pipe(Goomba) and check for Quizmo spawn to the left.

  3. Go back to sewer, then go down middle pipe(Koopa) and check for Quizmo spawn to the south.

  4. Repeat 2 & 3, just go back and forth between Goomba & Koopa villages and look for the spawn, either way go to the other one right afterwards.

Hidden Goodies (10)

Find every hidden block (Must grab item from each box at least once)

This one isn't too bad as you also get some good items and badges from some of them. The guide: https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_hidden_blocks_in_Paper_Mario

As the description says, you need to pick up the item in order to trigger the counter.

MISSABLE!

First Class Scout (5), Star Scout (10) , Life Scout (10) and Eagle Scout (25)

Obtain 20, 40, 60 and all of the 80 Badges

This will take a lot of time and you will get them all going on in the story. Like others have said, if you pick up any of the Peach badges and don't put them in the chest after the Chapter 6 intermission, you will miss out on them. Either put them in the chest or don't pick them up and wait for Chapter 8.

List of all the badges: https://mariopartylegacy.com/guides/paper-mario-64/badge-list-and-locations/

Kitchen Nightmare (50)

Make all recipes

These links are useful for this achievement: https://retroachievements.org/achievement/79593 https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Tayce_T._recipes

For this one you need to make all of the meals, fortunately not every combination of them, so just a pick one recipe for each meal and you're good to go.

To The Max!(25),

Power up all your party members

This one isn't too bad, most power up spots can be found easily and if you need it: https://mariopartylegacy.com/guides/paper-mario-64/super-block-locations/

Coin Collector (5)

Collect more than 1,000 coins throughout your adventure

This isn't too hard but could take a while; best way to do this is to sell Volt Shrooms you cooked from Tayce T., sell Whacka's Bumps or try your luck in Jump/smash attack.

Max Power! (25), All Beefed Up (10), Flower Power! (10) and Badge Points (10)

Max out your HP, FP, BP and Level

Shouldn't take too much time and you are probably going to max the stats by the end of the game, but the best way to level up is through defeating the Amazy Dayzees in Chapter 6 and through the Bullet Bills in Chapter 8.

MISSABLE!

Here's the Mail that Never Fails (5)

Read all Partners letters

Easy achievement, but if you hit Whacka too many times (see You're A Monster) without having talked to him with Parakarry, you will miss his letter, hence locking you out from obtaining all of them.

Prologue

ENEMIES TO TATTLE: 6

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: 6

As soon as Bowser defeats you and you fall off the castle, you can earn your first achievement:

Loading Screen Aficionado (1)

Wait on any Chapter introduction and hear the classic Mario Bros. theme

This is the first achievement you can obtain, just wait for the Mario bros jingle right when you get the "PROLOGUE" screen. If you somehow manage to miss this, just wait until the next chapter.

STORY

Hammer bro (5)

Get the Hammer

Unmissable story achievement, rewarded just right after you get the hammer.

First Time Strike (1)

Get a first strike

Just jump on an enemy after defeating Jr. Troopa and you will earn this.

STORY

Boy Scout (1) and First Friend (5)

Get your first badge/Have Goombario join your party

Both unmissable that you will obtain when you get to Goomba village after defeating Jr. Troopa.

Now that you have Goombario, remember to tattle the missable enemies from now on for the Encyclopedia achievement.

After defeating the Red and Blue Goombas in Goomba Road, we have our first missable boss achievement of the game:

MISSABLE!

Goomnutless (10)

Defeat the Goomba King without the use of the Goomnut

The easiest boss cheevo, just don't hit the Goomnut and make sure to tattle the Goomba Bros if you didn't before.

There's really nothing else you can do at Toad Town at this point, so this marks the end of the Prologue. Begin Chapter 1 by entering Pleasant Path.

Chapter 1

ENEMIES TO TATTLE: 12

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: 5

Ring Around the Rosie (2)

Play Ring Around the Rosie with a Candycane to get some life

On your way to Koopa Village, you will find this place: image

The first candycane follows where you go, and as soon as you spin around it, you will get the achievement along with some hearts to recover health.

STORY

Never Koop a Kooper (5) and A Blast With My Gal (5)

Both partner achievements unlocked in Chapter 1.

During the fortress, I would reccomend levelling up a bit for the upcoming fight, so that you're around 15 HP and FP. Use the Bullet Bills just before the Koopa Bros. fight to get an easy level. Equip the Power Bounce badge, set Bombette as your partner and begin the fight.

MISSABLE!

P.O.W.-erless (10)

Defeat the Koopa Bros. without using any items

Tip: If you struggle with doing both Encyclopedia and this achievement, save before the fight, unlock this achievement first without tattling, reload and beat the fight however you want with also tattling every enemy.

For the first fake bowser phase, just attack it normally, save FP, and block its attack. Finish the phase with Mario so Bombette can attack with Bomb and knock the Koopa Bros on the ground. Once they're on the ground you can attack them with Power Bounce or Bomb. Note that you cannot use any item whatsoever, not even for healing, so play this one smartly.

Shoutout to CassetteCobra for this strategy!

STORY

Old Age Wisdom (5)

Free Eldstar from the captivity of the Koopa Bros. and gain his power

First Star Spirit. Refresh is pretty decent early game restoring 5 HP and FP for 1 energy bar.

That's it for Chapter 1. There's a couple of extra achievements you can obtain in Toad Town before going into Chapter 2:

Oink! (5)

Win an Item from an Lil Oink

Make sure you do not have a full inventory or this won't pop. Just buy a Lil Oink and have it drop any item. Lil Oinks can be useful later in the game to farm more rare items. Here's a drop list:

image

Power Bouncer (25)

Bounce 25 times consecutively

This can technically be done as soon as you get the badge, but i reccomend getting the Dodge Master badge first to make the whole process easier. Practice, and you will get this one eventually.

I Feel Like I've Been Scammed (3)

Get an 'Upgrade' from Chet Rippo in Toad Town

Save before doing this one. Lots of players don't even know the existence of this guy, as he doesn't really do anything too beneficial.

Chet Rippo on X: "@Lawakuwuoffici1 https://t.co/4Scp5Yi9ig" / X

You can find him on the left on the south part of the town that was blocked before. Just select one of the option between HP FP or BP, and it will pop. Reload the save afterwards.

When you're ready, blow up the rock at the station with Bombette to start Chapter 2.

Chapter 2

ENEMIES TO TATTLE: 11

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: 7

STORY

Turtle Mail (5)

Have Parakarry join the party

Now that you have Parakarry, you can get Whacka's letter, the only missable one. Hit Whacka a few times then interact with him when you have Parakarry as your partner to get the letter. Go back to Toad Town to make sure you got it, then you can start doing this achievement.

You're A Monster

Deal enough damage to Whacka and cause him to disappear

Make a save just in case you mess up and you don't get the letter, or simply reload after you get the achievement. Whacka's Bumps are excellent healing items, so stack up on them.

MISSABLE!

Buzz off! (10)

Defeat Buzzar

This is missable if you choose any other option than "Mario" when you talk to Buzzar. Fight isn't too hard but he has some annoying attacks.

By this point of the game you probably should have the First Class Scout achievement.

She Does Spells, but Not for Free (3)

Purchase a 'Special Course' Spell from Merlee in Dry Dry Outpost

As soon as you get to Dry Dry Outpost go to Merlee and do this.

Before entering the Ruins, stock up on 6 Thunder Bolts in the Outpost shop for the next boss battle.

STORY

Super Hammer Bro

Get the Super Hammer

MISSABLE!

Bury The Dead (5)

Defeat Tutankoopa by harming him only with items (Tattle is ok to use)

One of the easier boss achievements. Use all the Thunder Bolts on Tutankoopa, while you tattle and attack the Chomp with Goombario. It is said that Tutankoopa damaging himself has caused trouble to players, locking them out of the achievement; retry the fight if it didn't pop up, that's my suggestion.

STORY

Motherly Instinct (5)

Free Mamar from the captivity of Tutankoopa and gain her power

Mamar's ability is one of the worst of the bunch, but it could still be useful in some situations. Not much to do in this post chapter, so let's get to Chapter 3!

Chapter 3

ENEMIES TO TATTLE: 10

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: 9

STORY

Super Jumpman Mario! (5)

Get the Super Boots

AS SOON as you get the Super Boots, come back to Toad Town for a missable achievement:

MISSABLE!

Sorry, Bro! (5)

After getting the Super Boots, go and find Luigi's secret diary BEFORE meeting Lady Bow

Before meeting Bow, get to Mario's house and you will see a panel in the room on the left:

enter image description here

Double jump on the panel to trigger the achievement.

Since we're still in Toad Town, buy Speedy Spin badge and get the Quick Change from Merlon if you didn't already for a later achievement.

Return back to Boo's mansion:

STORY

Frightful Woman (5)

Have Bow join your party

Old School House Party (1)

Become 8-Bit Mario in Boo's Mansion

In the right room on the first floor, you will find a vase. Enter in it and you will turn 8-Bit.

Secrets and Unlockables - Paper Mario 64 Walkthrough

Mild Shock (5)

Use a Thunder Rage from a 'Mystery?' item (Cannot use Double or Triple dip)

After you get Bow buy some Mysteries from the boo shop and save your game. Reload and repeat on a random Forest enemy until you get it.

Onto Blubba's castle.

Afraid of Ghosts (4)

Get to the chest without using Bow or Lakilester at Tubba Blubba's Castle spikes room

Impossible to do without Speedy Spin badge. This is tricky, but with some practice you're gonna get it. Video for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifPlp4Y74K4

For the upcoming boss fight, equip Mega Rush, Quick Change, set Goombario as your partner and get to Peril in the cave before Tubba's Heart.

MISSABLE!

Sheer Heart Attack (10)

Defeat Tubba Blubba's Heart in 4 turns or less

Unlike before, it's easier to do both the tattle and the strategy for the boss in one go. Here's the plan for each of the 3 turns:

  1. While in peril, tattle Tubba's Heart with Goombario. With Mario switch the partner to Bow and attack with Power Bounce. Get 6 bounces (6+5+4+3+2+1 =21 damage).
  2. Do a jump attack with Mario for 12 damage while Tubba's Heart is charging for the next attack. Use Outta Sight with Bow.
  3. After the Heart's attack, do another jump for 12 damage, and the fight will end. The boss has 50 HP but after dealing 45 damage the fight will end either way.

STORY

The Life of a Scholar (5)

Free Skolar from the captivity of Tubba Blubba and his Boos and gain his power

Star Storm is actually pretty decent. For 2 SP it does 7 damage to every enemy. Useful in some boss fights and situations where you're out of FP.

Let's get back to Toad Town.

If you've been keeping up with the Koopa Koot favors, after Chapter 3, you can get the Gold Credit, which means you can now do this achievement:

Jackpot (10)

Won a total of 250 coins or more in the Smash Attack Minigame

RNG, but not that bad. Fortunately you don't have to earn 250 coins in one go, but in total, so you should be able to get this with some patience.

Moving on the next Chapter!

Chapter 4

ENEMIES TO TATTLE: 12

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: 9

Around this point of the game you will probably earn:

Battle Hardened (25)

Fight your way through 250 battles throughout your adventure

Star Scout (10)

Obtain 40 badges

Inside of the Toy Box:

Mighty Morphin' Shy Guys (5)

Defeat the groups of two Red, Pink, Yellow, Green, and Blue Shy Guys IN ORDER in the Blue Zone of Shy Guys Toybox

The order on where they are is a little confusing, so here's a map made by Bushando64:

STORY

My Little Sweet Night Light (5)

Have Watt join the party

Now that you got Watt, you can try defeating Anti Guy:

Anti-Antiguy (25)

Defeat Anti Guy

There are two main strategies to beat him:

  1. Use Sleep Stomp/Watt's Power Shock to stop him for a few turns, Shrink Stomp to reduce damage and play it safe by using Power Bounces.

  2. Stryder7x's strategy requires you to be in Peril with Mega Rush and use Watt's Power Shock. Bring Quick Change for both strategies to switch from Goombario to Watt.

Shroomy Slots (10)

Earn a Mushroom from the Slot Machine in Shy Guy's Toybox

This one took a bit for me, luck wasn't on my side. You need either two or three stars for this, and you must pick up the mushroom in order for the achievement to unlock. If you're getting a lot of Shy Guys, it's a good time to farm for:

Preemptive Striker (10)

Get a total of 100 first strikes in a game

MISSABLE!

General Guy's Bright Idea (10)

Defeat General Guy without damaging his Light Bulb

This one is not hard at all as some people did this achievement without knowing about the Light Bulb. Proceed as normal through the boss fight, switching between Goombario and Watt, and when you get to General Guy use D-Down moves, hammer, or Watt's attack.

STORY

Time to Chill (10)

Free Muskular from the captivity of General Guy and gain his power

Chill Out is particularly useful, as it decreases the enemy's attack power. Good against bosses like Kent C. Koopa, Lava Piranha, and Crystal King.

Buckle up for Chapter 5!

Chapter 5

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: 11

ENEMIES TO TATTLE: 13

The first achievements you can obtain at this point are when you are about to enter Mt. Lavalava. With the Ultra Stone Raphael gave you, you can obtain any of the following achievements:

image

In this chapter you can power up to Ultra rank around 2 partners (5 if you to backtrack after defeating Lava Piranha).

This is a list to keep track of all the Super Blocks: https://mariopartylegacy.com/guides/paper-mario-64/super-block-locations/

After speaking with Raphael, head to Mt. Lavalava.

STORY

Ultra Hammer Bro (5)

Get the Ultra Hammer

You find this on the room to the left all the way down.

Rolling in the Deep (3)

Destroy all spinning flames at Mt. Lavalava

This is a fun one. You need to jump over the fire bars until they are gone, kind of like in a game of jump the rope. As you jump more and more their speed will increase making it harder to time. Destroy all 5 of them and you will get the achievement.

For this boss achievement, be sure to stack up on at least 2 Whacka's Bumps, equip Ice Power, Double Dip and Quick Change. Set Goombario as your partner and get 2 Thunder Rages (15 coins at the Yoshi shop).

MISSABLE!

Hot Footed Hero (10)

Defeat Lava Piranha without using Sushie, the Snowman Doll, or the Fire Shield Badge

As you may have noticed from the description, Ice Power is NOT banned. It is extremely useful for the 2nd phase of the boss fight when they all become on fire. With a good strategy this is manageable.

Start the fight by tattling one of the Lava Buds with Goombario then do a Thunder Rage double dip with Mario to defeat both.

Next turn tattle Lava Piranha, and with Mario damage him by doing Power Bounces. Heal with a Whacka's Bump if needed before the next phase, and charge Goombario a couple times.

In phase 2, use a jump combo Ice Power on Lava Piranha to remove the fire, and do charged headbonk/multibonk with Goombario on it. Your main priority with Mario is doing jump combos/Power Bounces on Lava Piranha to stun him so he can't attack. Lava Buds are going to shoot little red things called Petit Piranhas, TATTLE THEM. After that you can switch out Goombario for Bow/Watt. A jump ice power combo on either Lava Buds is going to defeat them, but they will recover soon after. Use Chill Out or equip Damage Dodge before the fight if you're having trouble with them dealing too much damage. Use Whacka's Bump when necessary. Good Luck!

In the Peach intermission:

Make sure you deposit the badges you picked up either now or in the next intermission, otherwise you won't be able to get the Eagle Scout achievement.

64th Trivia Quiz-Off - Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia

MISSABLE!

Survery Says...! (3)

Answer all of the questions correctly in the 64th Trivia Quiz-Off

For this one mash a before the question to make sure someone doesn't respond before you. I've written all the answers in A B or C:

  1. B
  2. A
  3. C
  4. A
  5. C
  6. A
  7. B
  8. B
  9. A
  10. A

Responding correctly to everything will grant you a Jammin' Jelly and the achievement.

When you're back to control Mario, make sure you got 8 spaces left for coconuts, 7 for Jr. Troopa and 1 for the side quest. Get a coconut by smashing any tree.

Back in Toad Town:

MISSABLE!

That Guy Got Hit in the Head With a Coconut! (10)

Defeat Jr. Troopa (chapter 5) after returning to Toad Town from Yoshi's Village with only coconuts

Very funny cheevo, enter the fight with Goombario to tattle and just spam coconuts.

99.7 FM (5)

Get the last reward from the Trading Event Toad

This is a side quest you can do. The last reward can be obtained in Chapter 5. To trigger this, go in Koopa Village and enter the house of the Koopa with the radio. Interact with it 3 times to trigger the Information Station. This will mention various reward for anyone who brings said items to this pink Toad.

  1. Bring a Koopa Leaf (from the Koopa Village bush) in the Toad Town main gate.
  2. Bring a Nutty Cake (cook a Goomnut) to the Dry Dry Ruins entrance. If you have trouble finding it here's a map: (D7 is the Outpost start and A3 is the ruins)

Dry Dry Desert Map from Kellye_Marie - hosted by Neoseeker

  1. Bring the extra coconut from the Island to Club 64.

In case you missed a Magical Seed for Chapter 6:

Toad Town - 1 screen south of the flower garden

Mt. Rugged - 1 screen west of Buzzar. Before the hill that leads to the top area, head right and use Parakarry to get to another area where the Bub-ulb is.

Forever Forest -

Lavalava Island - After you beat the volcano, the chest for the treasure of the volcano, the Volcano Vase, appears where you found Sushi. Give Kolorado the Volcano Vase for a seed.

Onto Chapter 6!

Chapter 6

ENEMIES TO TATTLE: 12

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: 17 (Yeah this one is big)

There's three Super Blocks in this chapter so you can get another 3 of the power up achievements.

MISSABLE!

Why Spike? (1)

Don't forgive Lakilester

After defeating Lakilester, simply choose Don't Forgive after the fight.

STORY

Riding the Cool Breeze (5)

Have Lakilester join your party

Now that you got Lakilester, it's time to backtrack to Toad Town Sewers to get the Ultra Boots.

Ultra Jumpman Mario! (5)

Get the Ultra Boots

Paper Mario Clip: The Ultra Boots! - YouTube

Go back to Flower Fields after getting the Super Block.

Dayzee'd and Confused (5)

Defeat an Amazy Dayzee

Now is a good time to talk about Amazy Dayzees: they're the best SP farm of the game, as you can get to max level in around a hour.

You can find them in the south-east area of the Flower Fields, here:

image

They are quite easy to defeat:

First equip Mega Rush and Power Plus, then lower your hp to 1 with the vines on the left. Once done do a first strike to it, a Mega Rush boosted jump combo will do just enough damage to defeat the Amazy Dayzee. If you don't do enough damage with a jump combo or didn't do the first strike, do a Power Bounce.

This is a really effective way to level up and eventually, if you want, get the four level related achievements.

Max Power! (25), All Beefed Up (10), Flower Power! (10) and Badge Points (10)

Max out your HP, FP, BP and Level

With your level at max and with the Ultra Boots, you can try tackling two bosses, considered to be some of the toughest of the game.

MISSABLE!

Hard Shelled Bully (10) and No Sleep for Ol' Four Eyes (10)

Defeat Kent C. Koopa/Defeat Kent C. Koopa without using any status effect

A good strategy for defeating Kent C. without putting him to sleep, his by doing as much damage as possible with D-Down Jump (powered by Power Plus and All or Nothing), then attack its tail with Parakarry's Shell Shot or Bombette's Bomb. Repeat for some turns and make sure to heal if health is low, although if you maxed your HP and equipped some defense badges you should be good.

Back on Flower Fields, grab the S. Jump Charge on the sky once you're done with the backtracking of the flowers storyline.

Badge List and Locations - Paper Mario 64 Walkthrough

Return to Toad Town:

Graduate (25)

Prove yourself worthy to have your Diploma

In other words beat the final form of the master. Now that you have got tons of HP and FP, the Ultra Boots and S. Jump Charge, this fight becomes a piece of cake. I reccomend starting with Goombario then switch to Watt, to charge Mario or attack for 5 damage. With Mario simply charge yourself a lot, debuff the Master's damage if you need and Power Bounce him to hell. This strategy works for each of his phases.

MISSABLE!

Off Cloud Nine (10)

Defeat Huff N. Puff without the use of Bow or Lakilester

The same strategy you used for the Master can be used for Huff N Puff. Simply tattle with Goombario without switching to either Bow or Lakilester, meanwhile super charge and Power Bounce with Mario.

As Peach, there's the last achievement with her:

MISSABLE!

Quite the New Look (1)

As Peach, disguise yourself as an enemy and look at the mirror in her room

Very straightforward. With the parasol you got from the Trivia Quiz-off, disguise as a Koopatrol and go back to your room. Interact with the mirror to trigger the achievement.

Don't forget to also put the badges in the chest if you have picked them up, this is your last chance.

STORY

The Book Worm (5)

Free Klevar from the captivity of Huff N. Puff and gain his power

Not a lot to do left here so go talk to Merlon and then follow the Ninji to the pipe leading to Shiver City to begin Chapter 7.

Chapter 7

ENEMIES TO TATTLE: 10

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: 6

In this chapter you will probably obtain:

Life Scout (10) and Star Piece Collector (25)

Obtain 60 badges/Collect 80 Star Pieces

In this chapter also lie the two final super blocks (one in the cold pipe, the other in shiver mountain), so you can obtain:

To the Max! (25) for upgrading every partner and the achievement for the last partner upgraded (likely lakilester)

MISSABLE!

Let's Kick Some Ice (5)

Stop time on Crystal King, then deal 7 or more damage in a single attack while he is frozen

This one is very very simple. Make sure you have full Star Power before the battle, and make sure you have equipped Power Plus, All or Nothing, P-Up D-Down and D-Down Pound.

When you're in the fight, use Time Out, tattle and then do a D-Down Pound. The achievement will pop as soon as the indicator of the damage is higher than 7.

If Time Out does not work any of the 3 times you do it, reload the save file and try again. Using a D-Down Pound is a good strategy in general against Crystal King as it does 9 damage.

STORY

Stay Calm (5)

Free Kalmar from the captivity of the Crystal King and gain his power

Now it's entirely about side content before defeating Bowser.

For organizing purposes, let's do everything extra in Chapter 8.

Onto the Grand Finale!

Chapter 8

ENEMIES TO TATTLE: 11

ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINABLE: 11

To trigger Chapter 8, go to Shooting Stars Summit and then fly up to Bowser's Castle in Star Haven. Once you get the Chapter 8 screen, come back to Toad Town. If you didn't already, pick up the badges you deposited with Peach in the box at Shooting Star Summit. Ignore this if you didn't

MISSABLE!

Here's the Mail That Never Fails (5)

Read every letter dedicated to your partners

The reason for this backtracking to start Chapter 8 is that so you could get this achievement earlier. For some reason, the last letter to Sushie from Raphael only appears after you come back after entering Bowser's Castle.

Unwanted Mail (5)

Read all of Mario's letters

Simple, just go into Mario's house and check his desk to read each of his letters. Some of these are pretty cute.

image

These next achievements are pretty lenghty/grindy, so take your time with them.

Quiz Master (25)

Answer all 64 of Chuck Quizmo questions

This might take a while but it's pretty fun and essential for the Star Pieces. Strategy to spawn him:

  1. Go in the Toad Town Sewers, in the 3 pipes room, go to the rightest one (Goomba Village) to see if he spawned there.
  2. If not, go in the one on the middle (Koopa Village) and check if he spawned near the pipe or one screen left.
  3. Once you answer the question, repeat the process and he should spawn in either of these places depending on where you answered the question.

Star Man (50)

Collect all 160 Star Pieces

Big points! Just follow the guide for this one and i suggest writing down which star pieces letters have you picked up so you don't lose your mind searching them.

Kitchen Nightmare (50)

Make all Tayce T. recipes

Title is right, this cheevo is a nightmare, easily the worst along the tattles. Again, take your time with this one and use some fast forward if needed. Tips i can give:

  1. Write down recipes you have done so that you don't waste resources on items you already cooked.
  2. For Jellies and Ultra Shrooms, farm them with Lil' Oinks and do the Laki clip so you don't waste 100 coins everytime. Save before doing it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiPYw3FHd7g
  3. If you see a recipe missing but you're sure you cooked it, try cooking the cake again.

Time for the grand finale. Onto Bowser's castle.

Hidden Goodies (10)

Find every hidden block (Must grab item from each box at least once)

You are going to find the last hidden blocks in the castle. Check the guide to see where they are.

MISSABLE!

Eagle Scout (25)

Collect all the 80 badges

If you collected all the badges so far, the last Deep Focus should be right before the castle entrance obtainable after the lava goes away.

Time for the last Bowser battle. Don't be afraid to use every healing item you got, like ultra shrooms or jelly combinations. Set goombario as your partner before the fight.

Encyclopedia (50)

Do a tattle to all enemies

The feared cheevo is finally over. If you tattled every enemy so far, right as you do it with Bowser (story or final phase) it should pop.

Full Energy Bowser (25)

Defeat Bowser without using your Star Energy (Final part of the battle)

This is obviously excluding Peach Beam as you need it to defeat him. This should be pretty manageable as the only star powers you would use are Time Out and Smooch. You can easily replace those by getting HP Plus badges or Damage Dodge. I reccomend switching between Sushie and Watt for your partners as they provide very good damage.

This should be missable in theory but this is basically the last time you can save so you can easily reload back here before the fight.

Dennis the Menace (5)

Read all of Luigi's diary

Just go into Mario's house before the party, Tornado Jump on the panel in the room and read the last pages that Luigi wrote.
