2) Introduction

This guide is written more as an achievement guide. This is a game of skill and no real techniques on how to play can be given well through text.

3) Controls

There are three elements to your bowling attempt that are within your control.

First is position. Using the left and right d-pad buttons, you can move Nester or Hester left and right respectively. While you do this, a meter will be set up on the lane with a bar bouncing back and forth. This is the spin gauge and it determines the spin of your ball, meaning how much the ball deviates left or right after throwing. It is NOT a meter for where you with to aim and will deviate the ball from the line in front of your character. Hitting A will then bring up the power gauge, which will fill completely then empty. If you have not pressed the A button before the gauge empties, your character will throw the ball at minimum power.

Scoring is the same as normal bowling. Each pin knocked down in a frame is worth 1 point. A Strike is earned when the player clears all pins in a frame with a single ball and is worth 10 points plus the value of the next ball thrown - a maximum of 30 in the case of three Strikes in a row. A Spare is picked up when the player takes two balls to clear all the pins in the frame and is worth 10 points plus the value of the next ball thrown - a maximum of 20 points if a Strike is bowled immediately after.

4) Achievements

Character Setup Achievements

image Several achievements are based upon scoring a strike under various circumstances, based upon your character settings at the beginning of the game. By default, you will be in the "Enter Your Name" box. By pressing R, you can cycle to character selection, handedness/ball weight, and back to name entry.

When character is selected, use left/right to choose your character. When the ball is selected, use left/right to choose your handedness and up/down to choose ball weight from 8 to 16 pounds.

By default, the player is set up to play as Nester, right-handed, with a 12-pound ball. Should you need to play with the same settings again, the game will remember your settings until the game is turned off.
