2) Introduction

In this section, you can give a short synopsis about the game, your feelings about the set, as well as placing credits to the achievement set makers if you so desire.

LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge is an action-adventure multiplatformed game released in 2001 and is a sequel to the 1997 PC exclusive LEGO Island. Whereas the original was essentially an activity center with a first-person, nonlinear world acting as a hub for the games, the sequel changes the perspective to third-person (Or in the case of the GBA port, a top-down perspective) and is more goal-oriented. You play as one of the protagonists from the first, Pepper Roni, as he tries to stop the titular Brickster and his Brickster Bots from terrorizing LEGO Island and find the Constructipedia pages he's torn out.

The GBA port follows the plot of the console and PC versions in a watered down fashion. The new islands introduced are incredibly reduced, there's only 5 Brickster bots across the main island, you can't really leave the sidewalks unless the lets you, etc. Most of the game is either doing fetch quests for the islanders (be it finding certain items for them or the constructipedia page for their building) or playing mini-games (though you can actually back out of most of the mini-games and the game will progress or give you the reward anyway). The game is also very buggy and I even managed to soft-lock myself a few times by complete accident (Once I got into a car and it allowed me to keep driving past the street and fully off-screen, never letting me leave it even if I was near a place I could potentially hop out).

3) Walkthrough

Step 1: Progression (29 Achievements)

MISSABLE

Safety First (1)
Obtain the Hard Hat and show it to the Workers.
You should lower your Costs (1)
Pay three Toll Bridge Coins to be able to pass the Toll Bridge.

These are primarily the achievements relating to the fetch quests you'll need to do throughout the game in order to progress, be it their associated items (Skateboard trophy for skater kid, Infomaniac's letter, Laura Brick's radio, etc) or the Constructipedia pages. For the most part, these are all required to do in order to beat the game. The only ones that I'd say that could be potentially skipped without any consequence are the radio and the letter, as the former just gives you a trading card (more on those later) and the latter doesn't give you anything in-game (besides the achievement, of course).

Pressing the L Button will show you the map of the 3 sections of the Island, with up and down moving between them and left and right swapping the cursor to each point of interest.

Step 2: Minigames (16 Achievements)

MISSABLE

A Trip Down Memory Lane (10)
Score >650 points in Matching Mummies without failing a combination after guessing your first one, current high score !=>650

For the most part, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the required scores for these achievements. Some of them I managed to get without even trying on my first attempt. You can skip them by pressing B in the info screen and get the reward for them or progress, but this can cost you the chance of unlocking them in Pepper's house to replay them. However, barring maybe the OGEL minigames at the end of the game, you should be able to replay them at any point after the fact (I single out OGEL because I tried re-entering the area that takes you to the final sequence after beating the game and could neither enter it nor could I take the train car back to the rest of the island, effectively softlocking my save file).

Step 3: Miscellaneous Collectibles (4 Achievements)

These are the rest of the achievements and are completely optional tasks on the main island (Changing the flowers, getting the fish, the brickster bots, and the cards). These can only really be done once you can explore all three parts of the island, but can be done at basically any point after you do.

Step 1: Progression | Total points: 72

160059

Are you Jack? (1)
Find the Jackhammer and bring it back to the Workers.

Go to "Beach 3" near the south middle of the island to find the Jackhammer. Once you get it, go to the north bridge to give it to the construction worker and he will allow you to pass through, earning you the achievement

Can I get some Information now? (3)
Rebuild the Information Center.

You'll get the page from the construction worker after getting him his jackhammer. Head to the Information Center's location on the map at the east side and you'll earn the achievement.

Take care of you Back, Funberg (1)
Help Mr. Funberg weeding his Garden and obtain your Reward.

Infomaniac will tell you to check the Allotment (which is north-ish to Beach 3) to help Mr. Funberg weed his garden. Head over there, pluck a couple of the weeds, and he'll hand you a coin for the Toll Booth, netting you the achievement.

Pepper the Mailman (2)
Bring the Informatic his lost Letter.

You can find the letter north of the Allotment, as it's marked on your map with "Man with letter". Talk to him, then head back to the Infomaniac at the Information Center to earn the achievement.

Have fun with your Newspaper (2)
Find the Glasses and bring it back to the Old Man.

The glasses can be found near where the ferry to Castle Island is. Head north from there, then west, then down to an area with a bunch of benches. It's in the southwest corner of here. Then check your map for the Old Man's location on the middle island. Head there to hand him the glasses and net the achievement.

Do I get some Fruits for free? (3)
Rebuild the Orchard House.

Your reward for getting the Old Man his glasses is the page for the Orchard. Head to the location on the map and you'll receive a shuttle piece and the achievement.

Now I can hurt my Leg (3)
Rebuild the Hospital.

North-middle of North Island, find Darren's House and pick up the page from his backyard. Then head to Middle Island and bring it to Hospital lot (which is left of the the tracks on the right side of the island). And be careful not to get softlocked near the entrance like I did before the Hospital was rebuilt lol.

To Infinity... or just the Tree Top (1)
Use the Ladder to obtain a Constructiopaedia Page.

Near the top left corner of the North Island, you can collect a Flashlight from a citizen for free. To the west is a manhole you can only go through once you've got the Flashlight. Talk to the old lady near the lighthouse and you'll start the "Apple Grapple" minigame in order to earn the ladder. You can skip this if you want by pressing B at the info screen. Once you get it, head back to the Orchard and go to the northwestern part of the garden to find a tree with a page in it. The ladder's used automatically, allowing you to get the page and the achievement.

You are Tentacool! (1)
Find the Sick Squid and bring it back to Mr. Lockitt.

In the area you get to when you take the Manhole, head south of the Lighthouse to find Mr. Lockitt. Westmost of him on the coast will be his Sick Squid. Pick it up then head back to him to unlock his minigame, Hoop Hoop Hurray, and the achievement.

Bill Ding is building his Building (3)
Rebuild Bill Ding's House.

Once you get the page at the orchard, you can head to Bill Ding's lot on the Middle Island (The blue house near the top west of the map, right of the tunnel) to give him back the page and get the hard hat and the achievement.

Safety First (1)
[MISSABLE]
Obtain the Hard Hat and show it to the Workers.

Once you've gotten the Hard Hat, head to the tunnel south of his home to talk with the construction workers, who'll let you pass to the South Island now that you have one to protect your head.

This can be missed if you end up getting your license from the Police Station before talking to the workers, as they will despawn afterwards (I suppose to allow you to drive anywhere without a problem).

You should lower your Costs (1)
[MISSABLE]
Pay three Toll Bridge Coins to be able to pass the Toll Bridge.

You should have the first coin from helping Funberg. The other two can be obtained once you get the Ferry Ticket. Go to North Island and find the Ferry's dock in order to head off to Castle Island. Head east to play "Fan Fling" for one of them and west to play "Brick Dive", then "Joust" in order to earn the other. Once you got the coins, head to the toll booth bridge on the south east side of Middle Island and talk to the operator. He'll raise the gate and you should unlock the achievement.

While I hadn't missed it on my playthrough, given the construction workers vanish when you get the license, I imagine the same goes for the toll operator if you were to get the license before paying him.

Back where we came from (3)
Ask the Wizard on Castle Island to return you to LEGO Island.

Once you acquire the coins from Castle Island, a wizard appears near the "Joust" entrance. Speak to him and he'll return you to the main island, earning the achievement.

Getting back to Work (3)
Rebuild the Pizzeria.

You can find the page for the Pizzeria as your heading down the Toll BirThe Pizzeria's just slightly east past the bridge, you can't miss it.

Enough Work for Today (3)
Rebuild the Skate Park.

After getting the Pizzeria rebuilt, talk to Papa and he'll have you deliver a 4 pizzas around the island. You'll be put on a timer and given an arrow pointing you where to go. After returning to Papa to give him his pizza, he'll give you the Skate Park page as a reward. The park itself can be found on middle island, east of the toll booth.

Tony Roni's Pro Skater (2)
Obtain the Skateboarding Trophy and bring it to the Skateboarder.

You'll need to rebuild the Skate Park by getting the page from Papa and the key to unlock it. The key can be found nearby Lockit at "Beach 2" (the beach on North island only accessible through the Manhole). Just go north from his place and you should find it. Return to the park and enter it to play the "Skate Park" minigame (or skip it, you'll still get the prize if you do lol). The Skateboarder is in between the park and the toll bridge. Get the Police Station page and the achievement from him.

The Brickster's halfway in Jail again (3)
Rebuild the Police Station.

The page for the station can be found with the Skateboarder. Get it from him then head to South Island, where the Police Station can be found at the south east section of this island.

Can I get your Number? (2)
Find Laura Brick's Phone and bring it back to her.

Laura Brick is one of the police officers at the station (the one directly in front of the station when it is rebuilt. Her radio can be found in the grass area across the Toll Booth. Go all the way to end of it and you can find her radio. Give it to her to receive a trading card and the achievement.

Still broken but better than before (3)
Rebuild the Radio Station.

You'll get the page from doing the "Hoop Hoop Hooray" minigame from Lockitt after getting his squid for him. The radio station can be found at the north-west of North Island, above where the man with the Flashlight is.

We are live now! (3)
Find all four Radio Antenna Pieces and bring them back to the Radio Station.

The Antenna pieces can be found throughout the map. They shouldn't be too hard to find and you'll probably have picked up or seen a few while you're exploring around the map and doing other quests. The specific locations, however, are:

  • (South Island) At the beach, nearby the dock where Johnny Thunder is
  • (Middle Island) In the woods west of the bridge leading to North Island
  • (Middle Island) North of the Information Center, near the lake
  • (North Island) On the west side, there's 3 houses nearby each other. Go north of them into the woods to find it near the house up there

Bring all 4 back to the man at the Radio Station and you'll be rewarded with a Spanner and the achievement.

Octan and more (3)
Rebuild the Garage.

To get the Garage page, enter the Info Center to start "Whack-A-Bot" (which can be skipped if you press B in the instruction screen or exit the mini-game). Infomaniac then gives you the page afterwards. You'll find the Garage after going through the Toll Bridge or northeast of the Pizzeria.

Why do you need four of them? (3)
Find all four Spanners and bring them back to Nubby.
  • (South Island) Just a little south of the left tunnel that exits to South Island is "Man Fixing Car", as the map puts it. Talk to him to get a Spanner
  • (South Island) West-most of the island, by the green square near the bottom of the sidewalk.
  • (South Island) West of where the Fire Station is, under the man in the grey shirt and black hair
  • (North Island) As mentioned earlier, you'll get a Spanner if you give the man at the Radio Station his Antenna parts

Once you collect all 4 Spanners, head to the "Garage" to get the Fuel and the achievement.

A real Adventurer (3)
Return to LEGO Island after you visited Adventurer's Island.

You get can get to Adventurer's Island once you get the fuel from Nubbins at the garage for getting him his spanners. Head to the southwest part of the island where the dock is, give the woman the fuel, then talk to the man in the hat at the dock to start the Adventurer's Island sequence. The first two mini-games can be skipped, but you will need to play the last one, "Bongo!", but don't worry about your score for the time being. Once that's done, you'll return to LEGO Island, netting you the achievement.

3... 2... 1... Gonna Blast! (3)
Rebuild all Railway Stations.

The Railway Stations will all be rebuilt at once if you bring the page obtained from Adventurer's Island to any of the three stations around LEGO Island.

What are you looking, Darren? (3)
Rebuild Darren's House.

Go to Platform 2 on Middle Island, it's on the west-most side. You'll earn the page by doing the "Train Trouble" minigame (which can be skipped). Darren's House can be found on North Island, west of the Manhole.

Fish 'n Bricks (2)
Catch a Fish and bring it to the Lighthouse Keeper.

With Darren's house rebuilt, you're rewarded with a fishing pole. Go to any pool of water with fish hopping out of it (such as the lake behind Info Center), press a to start a brief fishing qte and keep the bar in between the arrows. Once you get a fish, head back to the Manhole on North Island and give the man at the Lighthouse a fish to receive the page for Margaret's Shop and the achievement.

Another Delivery Job (3)
Rebuild Margaret's Shop.

Get the page from the Lighthouse man after giving him a fish you catch with the fishing pole from Darren. The shop can be found along the west side of South Island.

Convenient Bridge (3)
Rebuild the Fire Station.

You'll need Margaret's shop rebuilt and a license from the Police Station in order to get the Fire Station's page. The license test is easy enough, just follow the directions given, keep under the speed limit in the corner, and hold the direction of whatever turn is required. Once that's done, talk with Margaret to drive in a van picking up foot scattered on the street. You're on a timer, but there's an arrow pointing to the closest fruit and each fruit you collect extends the time limit. Once you've collected all 10, you'll receive the Fire Station's page. The station's on South Island, all the way on the top north-east.

Now we can finally jail him again (3)
Rebuild the Jail.

The page for the Jail could be obtained all the way back at Castle Island, when you had to dive for bricks to rebuild the bridge. You can't miss it if you've beaten the mini-game. Once the Fire Station is rebuilt, you'll be able to reach the Jail. Head down the south-east-most section of South Island and cross the ladder put over the broken bridge to rebuild the Jail.

Pepper's Revenge (5)
Defeat the Brickster and bring him back in Jail.

Once you've rebuilt the Jail, head back to Platform 2 on Middle Island. A train car will appear and allow you to reach the other side. You'll have to go through a series of mini-games. First one, just place the ship in the bottom right corner, you'll avoid everything (pretty sure this one can be skipped as well to progress). Second one is simply hover onto one of the targets. You'll then be taken to the first of two mazes, both of which are very linear and have you avoiding being seen by Bricksterbots. Once you're past the first, you'll play another mini-game that can be skipped and do the last maze. Once you're past that, you'll have a basic platformer challenge and then the final "fight" with Brickster. Beat him and congratulations, you've beaten LEGO Island 2: Brickster's Revenge for the GBA!

Step 2: Mini-Games| Total points: 86

Terminating Session 404 (5)
Score at least 650 points in Whack-A-Bot

It's whack-a-mole. Just hit the D-Pad wherever a Bricksterbot appears and don't hit Infomaniac. You'll hit the high score needed in no time

Preparing The Ingredients (5)
Score at least 650 points in Apple Grapple

Basically whack-a-mole again, only you're trying to avoid grabbing any apples that may have a worm in them. Apples with a bite mark may or may not have a worm in them, give em a second to see if they do. If you grab one with a worm, you're temporarily unable to grab any more apples for a few seconds. Red apples give more points then green do.

Pizza Throwing Training (5)
Score at least 600 points in Hoop Hoop Hurray
Sharpshooter (10)
Score at least 500 points in Hoop Hoop Hurray while hitting a pole, a crab and a shark at least once

Left and right-most rings give 5 points, ten for the two in the middle, and farthest back one is 15. Hold down for the closest, up for the farthest, and neither to hit the two in-between. If you hold up and throw a ring at the shark, it's 50 points. A crab will appear close to the closest two poles and can be hit by holding neither direction for 25 points. 100 points are earned if you manage to hit all 5 rings in a row before hitting the side of a screen, with an additional 200 at the end for doing this twice.

Tip regarding hitting the crabs, I manage to get them usually when they stop nearby one of the closest two poles. You gotta be quick, though. You've only got a minute before the mini-game ends. Also, getting the 5 ring bonus will reset the shark and crab. So hold off on getting all 5 poles before getting the crab, then try and use the reset to get more points off the shark's fin.

Sum 41 In The Back Of My Mind (3)
Score at least 250 points in Skate Park

This one I still don't entirely get how it works. You hold left or right to speed up the board and press B or A to do tricks on either the rail on the left, over the stairs on the right, and the ramps on either side. You're likely only gonna be able to do one trick on any, two at most if you're lucky on the ramps. Failing a trick is only really possible on the ramps in my experience. While Infomaniac says to do a variety of tricks to impress the judges, there's only so much I could do with the two directions and two buttons. You can't hold or press the other two directions nor do the shoulder buttons do anything. I couldn't even get any more speed to go higher up the ramps. And what tricks you can do only give piddly amounts of points. So just try to squeeze in as many tricks as you can before the time runs out.

Darkmoon Faire (5)
Score at least 650 points in Flan Fling

Basically a shooting gallery, but you choose which color targets to hit. Hit the king and knights of the color you choose, don't hit the color you didn't, and avoid hitting either blank spaces or ones with Pepper on them. The game goes on long enough you should be able to get this first try.

Into The Deep (5)
Score at least 500 points in Brick Dive

Dive deep for LEGO bricks to help rebuild the bridge, using A to go forward and B to go back. The first brick can be found off to the right behind a Jellyfish. Go left and down some to find the second across the cannon shooting cannonballs at you. To the right of the cannon is the third brick, inside the ship it's on. Beneath the boat, past the swinging anchor, manta rays and shark to the left is the fourth brick. Go further past that and to the deepest part of the trench lies a giant crab guarding the last brick you'll need. Any damage you take from these obstacles will cause you to drop the brick, knock you around, and, in the case of the mantas, electrocute you for a few seconds.

This was probably one of the most annoying mini-games to play, even when before I tried going for the achievement. Slow swimming speed, very easy to get hit by obstacles, and the bricks past the ship falling all the way back down to the bottom and bouncing around to make finding them again much more tedious. The rays in particular are the worst part, given their wide, erratic patterns the fact they tend to swim near each other, them hanging around where the biggest gap is as well as sometimes by the shark and anchor, and the electrocution causing you to be stunned for longer then any other obstacle. The cannonballs can also be a pain, with them bouncing around making trying to grab the brick across from them a hassle as just when you're about to re-grab it, another one knocks you back again.

Your score seems to be entirely based on how much oxygen you have left by the time the bridge is built. So do your best to avoid hitting anything and familiarize yourself with the area to know where to go and where the obstacles move. I'd recommend at least going from bottom to top in terms of progression, just to get the most annoying bricks outta the way first.

Defender Of The Crown (3)
Score at least 600 points in Joust

Alternate A and B to build up speed for a few seconds, then keep the lance balanced to win. If you hit your opponent, you'll win and likely have enough points to get the achievement.

Graverobber (5)
Score at least 650 points in Matching Mummies
A Trip Down Memory Lane (10)
MISSABLE (?)
Score >650 points in Matching Mummies without failing a combination after guessing your first one, current high score !=>650

Basically just a matching cards game. Flip two cards over, if they match you get points. If they don't try again. For "A Trip Down Memory Lane", I recommend for you to make sure to keep track of where the cards are with paper or smth to the side and reset if you get a match before finding out all their positions.

According to the set dev, if you get a high score over 650 before this, you won't get the "A Trip Down Memory Lane" achievement because of how the memory is stored. The comments mention the achievement's logic was edited, but to be on the safe side, I'd recommend keeping a save before heading to Adventurer's Island and resetting if you manage to get something above 650 before getting this achievement.

Primal Instinct (5)
Score at least 650 points in T-Rex Racing

Basic auto-running mini-game. Up and down to move through the lanes and A to jump over obstacles. Hitting them just knocks you back some and causes you to lose some time. Score depends on how much time you have left by the end, but I managed to get this one first try. So it seems pretty generous. If you fail, just replay it at Pepper's House after beating "Bongo!"

Pepper Kong - Island Beat (5)
Score at least 650 points in Bongo!

Incredibly basic rhythm game, just press A or B when it's in the red square. I recommend just mashing or using turbo buttons. I used turbo and I managed to get enough in spite of all the misses by the end of it lol.

Houston, We Do Not Have A Problem! (5)
Score at least 950 points in Jet Lander

Hold A to boost jet pack up, hover to a target on the minimap to score. Furthest yellow one on the right gives most amount of points. Replay at Pepper's House if you miss it.

Mamma Mia! (5)
Score at least 200 points in Pizza Panic

It's a Tapper-styled minigame. Customers appear at counters demanding a certain topping, grab said topping, slide it down, grab the plate when they're finished by holding left, and dump it in the trash can at the bottom by pressing right. Miss one and you lose points as well as a life. Lose all lives and it's over. There's no real end point, it just goes on till you run outta lives. The game is at least nice enough to have them slide back some if they get to close to the end of the counter but you gave them the order before they make it past.

Tower Of God (5)
Score at least 600 points in Brickster's Tower

Platform to the top while throwing pizzas at Bricksterbots, who'll try and stop you by throwing bricks from above. Points seem decided by how long you took as well as how many bots you defeated along the way, though you won't see any score till you reach the top. The knockback caused by bricks is rather annoying, as it'll cause you to slide back if you're still in your damaged state and on the ground. Also, using the turbo A button lets you double jump, so that's handy to get up faster at least.

Dodge This! (5)
Score at least 650 points in Brickster Bash

The final fight with Brickster and the last mini-game! And it is incredibly easy. Just dodge the falling bricks and shoot the pizzas at the bricks protecting him as well as the Brickster himself. I got this first try without even being hit once

Step 3: Miscellaneous Collectibles | Total points: 35

Magic Thumbs (5)
Customize 100 Plants across LEGO Island.

Throughout the island, the flowers and some of the trees can be changed with the press of the A button if you're close enough to them. Just do this once for each object and it'll count to your total. If it reverts to the original color or shape it was, it'll remove that point till you change it again. You'll likely only be able to get this once you've reached North Island.

Breaking the Brickster-Bots (2)
Find and catch all five Brickster-Bots.

As far as I can tell, you never need to destroy all these guys and you'd get nothing from it if it wasn't for this achievement. The 5 here don't cause any issues for you or the other inhabitants, so that's why they're down here rather then considered a part of progressing the game. Regardless, here's where to find all 5:

  • (Middle Island) At the Beach 3, should see it before you find the Jackhammer.
  • (Middle Island) West of the Toll Booth, you can find it wandering around the grassy area where Laura's radio can be found.
  • (North Island) Bellow Platform 1, along the dirt path between the road and the red house.
  • (North Island) At the area you reach through the Manhole, can be found wandering in the grassy area above the beach and left of the Key to the Skate Park.
  • (North Island) Still at the Manhole area, go past the bridge while you're on the beach and you'll see it wandering near where the squid is.
Gotta get 'em All (3)
Catch a Large Fish, a Normal Fish and a Small Fish.

As mentioned earlier, you have to get the Fishing Rod from Darren and fish in water that has a fish hopping out of it. You'll randomly be given one of the 3 sizes. Should only take a minute or so to catch all 3.

The official LEGO Island Trading Card Game (25)
Collect every LEGO Card in your Album at least once.

This is by far the hardest achievement of the game. There are 40 cards in total, most of which can be found out around the three sections of the island. of the island. There spawning is seemingly random and I cannot tell what can cause them to spawn or respawn if they are collected. Some spots will give you 2 cards instead of just one. It also seems entirely random what card you will get from anywhere and if it will be new or not. Progressing the main quests seemed to make new ones pop up, but I can't tell if it's tied to progress, time accumulated, or both. I hadn't bothered to try and keep track of every card I collected or the locations of the cards, since I got the achievement before I decided to make a guide for the game. But, most locations tend to be in dead-ends or random spots that aren't connected with the main quests or hidden alcoves that have small gaps indicating you can walk through them.

There are at least 3 guranteed locations to get cards, two of which can be done infinitely.

  • At Funberg's garden, once you get the Toll Booth Coin, you can go off screen and respawn the weeds. De-weeding the garden will cause him to always give you a trading card afterwards.
  • During "Hoop Hoop Hooray", a spade will appear on one of the poles. Land a ring on it and you will get a card when the mini-game ends.
  • Giving Laura Brick at the Police Station her radio will cause her to give you a card.

Funberg's garden allowed me to grind out about half of the trading cards. If I kept pushing on, I might've been able to get every card from this if I tried hard enough, but it didn't seem like it was going to give me anything new by the time I hit 22. I recommend trying to hold off on collecting any cards until you've beaten the game if you can. If you try collecting them at any point, save near by it beforehand and just save-scum until the notification says you got a new one.
