2) Introduction
Klonoa Heroes: Densetsu no Star Medal is an action role-playing game developed and published by Namco for the Game Boy Advance and released exclusively in Japan in 2002. It is the first (and only) game in the Klonoa series to combine both standard action-gaming elements with role-playing features.
This set was released in 2024 thanks to developer Gudra, with the set featuring both progression, completion based on every Vision, items, and the bestiary, and custom challenges for each boss, both during their initial fight and their second match in a location called Momett House. It's a straightforward set, but due to the game being Japanese-only to this day, information found on the internet is sparse. So I took it upon myself to make the ultimate guide, one that will have everything you need for mastering this set!
This step will lead you through all the Visions in the game, with complete data over the chests, the enemies to find and how many, and the Mamett Dolls. All generic information such as the complete amount is displayed right in your face, with data for every screen being under a toggle.
The following achievements are missable as they have do be done flawlessly on your first attempt. Make a save before the Vision to avoid missing them:
These are all the guides for the boss achievements. During the story, you can only fight the boss once, making the challenges they have all missable. The game will let you know well in advance when you will be facing a boss, so just make a save and make sure you are prepared to take on the challenge.
Every boss also has a secondary achievement for the Momett House. Here, bosses can be refought as often as you like, making them not missable. Every achievement will have a guide with my recommendations on how to approach them.
All of these achievements either can be done at any time, or are something involving completion that will be ongoing throughout the entire game, such as the Mamett Dolls and bestiary. The latter two will have additional tips for some of the more tricky monsters and dolls, so be sure to check them out if you are missing something!
4) Additional Notes
Play with achievement challenge icons enabled. I can't stress this enough, because this will make your completion journey much easier. Developer Gudra has made it so that when all enemies are cleared on the screen, an icon will appear notifying you that you did. The game itself will not tell you.
Mamett Dolls are found in chests, but can also be obtained as drops from monsters, usually by clearing out the entire screen or a specific area. Make sure to pick up every chest that is dropped, and be absolutely sure that you defeat all enemies before leaving the screen. If not, the enemies respawn and defeating the monsters you ignore before will not make them drop the dolls.
For the extermination achievements however, you can easily leave and re-enter a screen to only defeat the missing monsters.
The chest achievements only count static chests, and of these only the ones that contain weapons/accessoires. Chests containing food will respawn upon leaving the screen, and are therefore not counted with these achievements.
If you are missing Mamett Dolls near the end, check out Vision 6-2 and 6-EXTRA first and foremost. They are the most likely suspects for missing dolls.
Step 1: Vision Achievements (4 Missable) | Total points: 429
You need to do this on your first try, so make a save before attempting this. There are a total of six puzzle screens, where you need to kill each Gael in a specific order. When one of them has you in their line of sight, it's back to the beginning. I won't tell you step-for-step how to do it because it would remove the idea of the achievement, but I can give you some vague hints:
Screen 1: Bottom-left, middle, top
Screen 2: Top, the one below it, middle, the one below it
Screen 3: Left, right, top, bottom
Screen 4: Top-left, top-middle, bottom, middle
Screen 5: Top-left, top-right
Screen 6: Middle-right, middle-left, the one above it, the one above that, top-right
A bit of a hybrid level, as the first three screens are regular screens, while everything after is a stealth section. Like before, make a save either before entering the vision, or after having done screen 3 because you need to do it first try. The vague hints this time around are:
A bit of a hybrid level, as the first four screens are regular screens, while everything after is a stealth section. Like before, make a save either before entering the vision, or after having done screen 4 because you need to do it first try. The vague hints this time around are:
Screen 1: Top-middle, bottom-middle, bottom-middle next to it, top-right x2
Screen 2: Top-right
Screen 3: Right-middle, bottom-left
Screen 1 has 2 chests, screen 2 has 3 chests, screen 3 has 1 chest, and screen 4 has 3 chests.
Mamett Doll 1 is found in a chest on screen 2, Mamett Doll 2 in a chest after defeating all enemies before the silver key door that has a golden key and chest behind it.
You need to do this on your first try, so make a save before attempting this. There are a total of five puzzle screens, where you need to kill each Gael in a specific order. Screen 5: Bottom-middle, top-middle, bottom-left, middle-left, bottom-right, middle
Give a weapon of your preference to Guntz, and put everything into full offense. This can be done at any time, so if the boss is giving you too much trouble early on, just return later at a much higher level with better weapons.
Grown-up Talk (10)Defeat Evil Pamela in Jugkettle Sea Vision 4 with Guntz's Death God Fire using only Guntz
-=MISSABLE=-
Story boss, can only be done once. Spread all of Guntz's stats across attack and special, then get Pamela's health as low as you can. Finish it off with Guntz's special attack, and the achievement is yours.
Dynamite Fishing (5)Defeat Evil Pamela in Momett House without using items using only Pango with a Mite weapon
Give a Mite weapon to Pango, and put everything into full offense. This can be done at any time, so if the boss is giving you too much trouble early on, just return later at a much higher level with better weapons.
The Right Way! (25)Defeat Boxmean in Moon's Ruins Vision 5 after having destroyed all its colored parts using only Klonoa
-=MISSABLE=-
Story boss, can only be done once. Boxmean will regularly spit out one of its colored parts or extend his arms to you. Attack with the correct style as Klonoa and after all four are destroyed, whale on Boxmean. Make sure to put everything into offense.
The Quick Way (10)Defeat Boxmean in Momett House without destroying any colored part using only Pango
Give a weapon to Pango that has a low spread to avoid accidentally destroying one of the colored parts, and put everything into full offense. Ideally, you want to wait with attacking until it has extended its arms or spit out a colored part. This can be done at any time, so if the boss is giving you too much trouble early on, just return later at a much higher level with better weapons.
Unparalleled Victory (25)Defeat Joka's hands in Sky Temple Vision 4 with a singular Tornado Attack, and defeat Joka before he regenerates them using only Klonoa
-=MISSABLE=-
Story boss, can only be done once. What you want to do for this one is to bring both hands as low as possible and then use Tornado Attack near the end to finish them off. Make sure you have enough stats put into both offense options, and use a yellow stone or one of the other two colours. Once the hands are gone, use the time fireflies you have in your inventory to stop time, then continously attack Joka until he's out. Ring/Hammer weapon is preferred for this one.
Look Ma, No Hands! (10)Defeat Joka in Momett House without ever destroying his hands using only Guntz
Give a dedicated weapon to Guntz such as a Laser or any guns. Personally, I preferred giving him a Yellow item to boost his special attack power as well as all stats into special, and then continously attack him with Guntz's second special attack. This can be done at any time, so if the boss is giving you too much trouble early on, just return later at a much higher level with better weapons.
Photosynthenope (10)Defeat Flower Joka in Volk City Vision 4 without letting him heal once
-=MISSABLE=-
Story boss, can only be done once. Flower Joka heals himself with the blue hand, so make sure to give one of your characters a Blue item with strong offense to quickly take it out, preferrably someone like Klonoa or Pango so you can have a full special build for Guntz and his second special attack to quickly deal high damage to Flower Joka. Using a Time Firefly is definitely also an option if you're struggling.
Handicap (25)Defeat Flower Joka in Momett House without destroying his hands
Give a dedicated weapon to Guntz such as a Laser or any guns. Personally, I preferred giving him a Yellow item to boost his special attack power as well as all stats into special, and then continously attack him with Guntz's second special attack. This can be done at any time, so if the boss is giving you too much trouble early on, just return later at a much higher level with better weapons.
Predestined Duel (10)Defeat Janga in Moon World Vision 3 using only Guntz with an MG weapon
-=MISSABLE=-
Story boss, can only be done once. Equip Guntz with an MG weapon and put everything into full offense, then defeat Janga. I preferred giving him a Yellow item to boost his special attack power as well as all stats into special, and then continously attacking him with Guntz's second special attack.
Brought a Bigger Gun (25)Defeat Janga in Momett House without healing yourself using only Guntz with a Lazer weapon
Not much different from the main boss, now you just can't heal yourself and are limited to the Lazer weapon. Like before, just put everything into a special build and spam away at him. This can be done at any time, so if the boss is giving you too much trouble early on, just return later at a much higher level with better weapons.
Can't Touch This (10)Defeat Garlen's Bugpod in Lunar Base Vision 3 without being caugh by the Beetles using only Pango
-=MISSABLE=-
Story boss, can only be done once. The beetles only appear during the first phase, and what you ideally want to do to avoid them is to use a special attack when they're on screen as they will be unable to catch you (and you'll most likely destroy them). Alternatively, Time Fireflies will do the job too. Put full offense into Pango, and whale away at the remainder of the boss once phase one is done.
Hero's Payback (10)Defeat Garlen's Bugpod in Momett House using only Klonoa with a Hero weapon
Can only be done after having found one of the weapons in the EXTRA visions. Once you got one of them, go into full offense mode as Klonoa and whale away at the boss. This can be done at any time, so if the boss is giving you too much trouble early on, just return later at a much higher level with better weapons.
Story boss, can only be done once. As the achievement indicates, pick Pango for this phase and don't switch off of him. Give him all the best items you can give him, as there will be a checkpoint between every phase so you can switch items around. A Blue or Yellow build is preferred.
Story boss, can only be done once. As the achievement indicates, pick Guntz for this phase and don't switch off of him. Give him all the best items you can give him, as there will be a checkpoint between every phase so you can switch items around. You need both Red and Blue attacks for this boss... or my favourite build, just dump all special stats into Guntz and whale away with the second special attack.

Hero's Courage (25)Defeat 100 minions summoned by Nahatomb in Momett House in the same battle
An endurance test where I generally recommend to put everything into special to easily get rid of all enemies on screen. If you are not anywhere close to the required amount and Nahatomb is about to die, wait for him to summon the Heart Magis to heal himself. Make sure you also put enough stats into defense, and bring enough healing items. This can be done at any time, so if the boss is giving you too much trouble early on, just return later at a much higher level with better weapons.
Sage's Wisdom (10)Defeat both halves of Nahatomb's Heart in Momett House within 0.5 seconds
What you want to do for this boss is similar to the Joka fight: get both sides to low health, then finish it off with a special attack. Any of the characters work for this, and preferrably pick one that's quick or has AoE damage. As always, big fan of Guntz's second special attack. This can be done at any time, so if the boss is giving you too much trouble early on, just return later at a much higher level with better weapons.
Warrior's Power (25)Defeat Nahatomb Dunkles in Momett House in a single special attack
This achievement is not possible to do until you have found all 100 Mamett Dolls, as this will give you a special item that will boost your special attack higher than any other item. With that item equipped as well as a Yellow item, everything put into special, and 9 Honey Juice, head in with (who else) Guntz. Trigger his second special attack and don't let go of the button, then drink from Honey Juice whenever your special is low. As long as you don't shoot into the abyss, this achievement shouldn't be too much trouble.
Step 3: Miscellaneous Achievements | Total points: 215
A good place to do this achievements is during boss fights that spawn enemies, such as the Boxmean fight, as all the shadowy blobs count as one enemy, as well as Garlen and Nahatomb. Charge up a special attack (make sure you have a high enough special stats + accessories), then unleash it when enough enemies are on screen.
Have a Flying Moo grab you, then spam either the Red or Blue attack and this should trigger no problem. If it does, just get back later with better stats to make sure you kill them in one hit.
Try to find a Giant Moo that is near a horizontal wall preferrably, then use one of Klonoa's weapons like a Ring or Sword to have it pinball away. If it bounces against a wall, it will come back in the same direction, so just stand prepared to hit it again until it is defeated. Make sure you don't kill it before it starts spinning.
This sidequest features Namco characters and starts by talking to Susumu in Moon's Ruins. He will redirect you to Sky Temple, where you will be redirected to Volk City. Once here, you can go back to previous locations to eventually finish the sidequest. The characters will all tell you where to go, so head to the locations and talk to the townsfolk resembling Namco characters (Tower of Druaga, Taiko no Tatsujin, Legend of Valkyrie etc.). They will stand out from the rest of the cast, so this should generally be easy to figure out.
You will very likely get to level 50 no problem when going through the EXTRA visions or completing the bestiary but if not, try to go to a location where you can easily exit and re-enter a screen with a good amount of (strong) enemies nearby, such as Jugkettle's extra vision with the Giant Phalanxes. The advantage of that place is that you don't have to pick up the experience items as they are automatically drawn towards you. If really necessary, you can get experience-boosting items from handing in Mamett Dolls.
The complete list of enemies can be found in the dropdown below. The guide is setup in such a way that you can search for these names with Ctrl+F, and it will tell you exactly in what Vision to find the enemy. There are a few exceptions:
Rare Moo LV1: These only spawn randomly. My most consistent location to find them is in Vision 4-4 on the second screen. Take the teleporter to the small island with the chest, and there will be a random amount between 0 to 4 Rare Moo LV1s here. You can exit and re-enter the screen to try again. Make sure you bring a character with high special attack to actually take them out.
Rare Moo LV2: These only spawn randomly. My most consistent location to find them is in Vision 7-3 on the fifth screen. Near the exit to the next screen is a small alclove with a treasure chest; this is where you will find between 0 to 2 Rare Moo LV2s. Since you are relatively close to the exit, just re-enter the screen over and over again. Make sure you bring a character with high special attack to actually take them out.
Rare Moo LV3: These only spawn randomly. To my knowledge, they appear in only one location in the entire game and this is Vision 4-EXTRA on the first screen. Near the exit to the next screen is a small alcove to the bottom-right fo it. You will find between 0 to 2 Rare Moo LV3s here. Since you are relatively close to the exit, just re-enter the screen over and over again. Make sure you bring a character with high special attack to actually take them out.
Unyo: The shadowy blobs that only appear during the boss fight with Boxmean.
Garlen Vespa and Garlen Beetle: The enemies that only appear during the boss fight with Garlen.
Death Spiker: Only appears during the second phase of the Nahatomb final boss battle.
I've listed the Mamett Dolls per Vision, and there are also eight you can get for defeating each boss in Momett House at least once. If you have defeated all enemies on a screen without leaving the screen and have picked up the chest they dropped, you should very likely have them all or be close to done.
If you are still missing Dolls, I would recommend checking out the time limit levels first in Moon World (6-2 and 6-EXTRA). While certainly possible, it's not unlikely that you didn't defeat all enemies at the same time while underlevelled, and every single screen has a Mamett Doll here for defeating all enemies.
Remember, if you have all achievements for getting every chest in an area, then you are only missing dolls from Momett House or enemy drops. Make sure you have checked this first and foremost.
