Jeanne DArc (PSP) ‐ Postgame Notes - RetroAchievements/guides GitHub Wiki
Put together by rozhestvensky - feel free to PM with any questions.
This guide includes some details on end-game achievements. Details on basic completion of the main story can be found elsewhere (e.g. GameFAQs). There are some missables to keep in mind as you play through the story, however:
- In general, don't sell anything (unless you have a ton of duplicates and are desperate for cash). Money is not scarce after the first several chapters.
- Har, Well Fought! requires you to defeat Talbot during Stage 5 (The Road to Chinon) - it's possible to skip right past him and escape the area. Defeating him is pretty easy, though.
- Ni! requires you to defeat Slinker during Stage 15 (Chalons and the Ruse) - you can also escape without fighting him. This is also fairly easy, and you can grind a bit beforehand if you're having trouble.
- Make a save before Stage 18 (Vicissitudes). Immediately following your win, you'll have to choose between two paths:
- First, select the "St. Pierre-le-Moutier" route to recruit Claire and unlock The Magician Girl.
- Reload your pre-Stage 18 save and select the "La Charité" route to recruit Rose and unlock Narrow Roads.
- Whip Master requires that Rose joins your party. She comes equipped with a Snakeskin Lash, which is not available anywhere else in the game. If you follow through with the St. Pierre-le-Moutier route, you cannot get this achievement.
- This won't affect achievements, but Cuisses' Gem of Azure can be missed if you win it from the Colosseum while he's not in the party. This is only possible if you complete the Colosseum immediately after you get Jeanne back, between Stages 21 (Fated to War) and 22 (Hopes Unattained). Just save the Colosseum for the postgame.
- The Creator's Armlet requires that you find a hidden treasure during Stage 26 (Queen Isabeau). Find the sparkles at the far north end of the map (behind the altar), then Wait on them to receive the Gem of Life. This is your only chance!
- There's another set of branching paths after Stage 28 (Shade and Light), so make a save that you can revert to. You can choose either path this time - there will be no impact to achievement unlocks:
- Follow the "Alrond Wood" path to unlock Hunted Down and Vying for Light A
- Follow the "Gwygone Mines" path to unlock The Dwarves' Test and Vying for Light B
- Hoarder requires you to possess at least one of every useable item. There are a few rare items which you can't find or purchase, but they are all awarded to you after story missions, so you can only miss out if you don't keep at least one of everything. This should unlock after completing Stage 34 (The Fifth Hero) and receiving a God's Grace.
- For Any Occasion can be missed if you do not find the Goddess Armor. It's only available as a hidden item on your first visit to the Cemetery map, which unlocks after you load your cleared game save. Find the sparkles in the far northwest corner of the map, near the wooden shack, Wait on the tile to retrieve the Goddess Armor, then complete the mission. This armor cannot be found on repeat visits to this area!
Beating the final boss will require party levels in the 50-60 range. When you load your cleared game save, enemies in all Free Combat locations will increase in levels accordingly. The rewards for clearing a Free Combat encounter will improve, too - start by revisiting every area and clearing it out at least once. This will help you level up, earn you some equipment and skill stones, and may upgrade local shop inventories (if you're using the lists below to find something in a shop, but it doesn't show up, try beating the local free combat encounter one more time). You can also revisit the Paris Castle field to replay the final three main story Stages - there are a few unique items to be found at treasure spots.
As mentioned above, be absolutely certain to collect the Goddess Armor when you first battle in the Cemetery location. There are two other good treasures to find here - the Caduceus and the Bow of Artemis - which you should also grab now. These weapons aren't missable, but you'd have to find them as treasures in the field during later Colosseum runs. Much easier to grab them now.
Consider grinding the Châlons location for a while - its guaranteed rewards are HP Recovery and EXP Bonus II skill stones. With enough of these, you can do some skill binding and outfit your main party with HP Recovery III and EXP Bonus IV.
Regarding your party: You've probably already found some favorites during the main story, but here's who I went with for the postgame, in this order (depending on how many fighters were allowed per encounter):
- Rufus - Far stronger than every other character, and can solo a lot of things when maxed out.
- Gilles - Takes care of larger monsters with Sweep!
- Colet - Fairly strong, but also rarely gets hit.
- Marcel - Very strong from a distance. Sky Dart remains useful throughout the game.
- Richard - For healing and Cyclone II use as needed.
- Jeanne - Gets to use some of the best equipment in the game, but otherwise average.
- Rose - Not as good as Colet, but still evasive and mobile.
Take some time to work through the equipment, item, and skill stone lists. If you stick with one team and keep EXP Bonus IV stones equipped, you'll reach Level 99 in short order. When powered up and equipped with high-level skills, you can take on the Colosseum.
There are three versions of the Colosseum, each with ten Rounds to complete. The first Colosseum run will have you battling enemies on par with those you'd fight during the main story - if you've saved the Colosseum until now, you'll breeze through this.
My Name Is Gladiator (10) Complete all 10 rounds in "Free Combat" stage: "Colosseum 1"
The second Colosseum run has enemies up to Level 70, which you should handle easily with maxed characters. The only possible roadblock is the Round 10 boss, Luther, who has Counter II and HP Recovery III skills. You may get some unlucky rolls, but you should be able to overpower him soon enough.
Shadows and Dust (25) Complete all 10 rounds in "Free Combat" stage: "Colosseum 2"
Clearing the Colosseum for the second time will reward you with some powerful equipment and a gem for Jeanne. Assuming you've:
- found the hidden Gem of Life during Stage 26 (Queen Isabeau), and
- cleared the Valdor Temple free combat area,
you should have all five of Jeanne's transformation gems.
The Creator's Armlet (10) Gather all 5 of the gems for Jeanne's armlet
One reward from the second Colosseum series is a "Charred Amulet". With this, return to the Cemetery to revive Liane! She'll replace Cuisses in your main party - just return to the Cemetery again if you'd like to switch back.
Necromancer (3) Bring someone back from the dead using the cemetery
You will still have to complete the Cemetery free combat encounter after reviving Liane, but it's nothing special.
With Liane in tow, you'll have four female characters. Head to an easy free combat map (such as Chapel in the Woods) and complete the encounter with these criteria:
- Only the four women (Jeanne, Liane, Beatrix, and Rose) are deployed
- No weapons are equipped (you'll need to use Magic skills to clear the area)
- No one transforms
- No one is killed in battle
If successful, you'll unlock this:
I Am Strong, I Am Invincible, I Am Woman! (10) Complete any "Free Combat" stage with all possible female units only, with no weapon equipped, no transforming and with all units alive at the end of the stage
Several achievements are linked to the free combat encounter in Troyes. You'll need to complete the encounter in various ways:
- A single-character challenge run: This should be simple with a max-level physical fighter.
- A single-class challenge run: Clear the encounter using only Marcel and/or Beatrix; only Jean and/or Gilles; etc., without any characters dying.
- A speedrun: Clear the encounter in five turns or fewer.
Archer Challenge: Even with Marcel at max level, I had trouble clearing this stage within the 20 turn limit. Bring Beatrix along (she should be at a respectable level due to bonus EXP) and just have her hang back to provide supplemental damage. When the enemies swarm, have her back into the small nook right next to the start area, then have Marcel stand between her and the enemies. Once the big horde has been cleared, head outside the walls and clean up the last few guys.
Crack Shot (10) Complete the "Free Combat" stage: "Troyes", in the post-game, with only archers and with all of your units alive at the end of the stage
Lancer Challenge: A max-level Gilles can solo this easily. Sweep! will make quick work of enemies when they group up near the entranceway. Jean is available if needed.
Keep Your Distance! (10) Complete the "Free Combat" stage: "Troyes", in the post-game, with only lancers and with all of your units alive at the end of the stage
Spellcaster Challenge: Since you recruited Rose for achievement purposes, your only spellcaster is Richard. If you don't clear the single-character challenge with Gilles or Rufus, you'll certainly have to get it here.
As with the archers, you'll want to play defensively. Give Richard the Thor's Hammer skill for offense; some HP Recovery, HP+, and MP+ skills for survival; and some HP- and MP-restoring items. Back into the little nook near the start to limit the number of enemies that can attack you on a single turn. You're just waiting for your MP to get high enough to cast Thor's Hammer, which hits every enemy on the field - my Level 99 Richard cleared out all but one opponent with two casts.
I Put a Spell on You... (10) Complete the "Free Combat" stage: "Troyes", in the post-game, with only spellcasters and with all of your units alive at the end of the stage
The Chosen One (10) Complete the "Free Combat" stage: "Troyes", in the post-game, with only one unit
Axe User Challenge: A maxed-out Rufus will tear it up, and you have La Hire and Bartolomeo in reserve if needed.
'Cause I'm the Axeman (10) Complete the "Free Combat" stage: "Troyes", in the post-game, with only axe users and with all of your units alive at the end of the stage
Swordsman Challenge: I hadn't prioritized any sword-users during the postgame, so no one was maxed out... but with Jeanne, Cuisses/Liane, Roger, and Bertrand all available, this challenge proved very possible.
Live by the Sword... (10) Complete the "Free Combat" stage: "Troyes", in the post-game, with only swordsmen and with all of your units alive at the end of the stage
Knife/Whip User Challenge: A max-level Colet could easily solo this; having Rose to assist makes it a cinch.
Slasher and Lasher (10) Complete the "Free Combat" stage: "Troyes", in the post-game, with only knife and_or whip users and with all of your units alive at the end of the stage
Speedrun Challenge: The key is to use the Godspeed skill stone, letting any character move again after defeating an enemy. If you have a very strong character (like Rufus) who can kill an opponent in a single hit, you're golden - just make a circuit around the area, wiping everyone out. If you're not quite that strong, you can bring Richard with Thor's Hammer and pump him full of MP-restoring items so that he can weaken all enemies ASAP, then have your strong character make the Godspeed rounds.
Speed Battler (10) Complete the "Free Combat" stage: "Troyes", in the post-game, in 5 turns or less
The third round of Colosseum battles feature the (mostly) same enemies, but all of their levels have increased, with Luther all the way up to Level 90. At this point, you should have mostly finished the equipment and skill stone achievements (Sections 3 and 4, below) so that you can fully outfit your team. My setups for the last few rounds:
| Name | Equipment | Skill Stones |
|---|---|---|
| Rufus | Lucifer, Firedrake Armor | Helm Splitter, Dire Swing, Desperation III, HP Recovery III, Man-Eater, HP +150 |
| Gilles | Gae Bulg, Saint's Armor | Take Flight!, Sweep!, HP Recovery III, Three Rounds, Man-Eater, HP +150 |
| Colet | Assassin's Knife, Devil's Frock | Four Hits, HP Recovery III, Man-Eater, Critical Edge, HP +150, Evade +30 |
| Marcel | Bow of Artemis, Angel's Frock | Recovery Shot, Range +1, HP Recovery III, Three Rounds, HP +150, MP +100 |
| Richard | Caduceus, Sage's Frock | Revivify, Swap, HP Recovery III, HP +150, MP +100, Heal II |
Round 7 of the third Colosseum includes five treasure spots which can be looted for rare skill stones and ultimate weapons. This is the only place that you can find the following:
- Bow of Artemis, the ultimate bow (if you didn't get it during the first battle in the Cemetery)
- Caduceus, the ultimate staff (if you didn't get it during the first battle in the Cemetery)
- Tsukikage, the ultimate dagger
- Rose Whip, the ultimate whip
- Range +2 innate (purple) skill stone
- HP +300 stat (blue) skill stone
- MP +150 stat (blue) skill stone
- Mobility +3 state (blue) skill stone
You will probably need to play through the Colosseum several times to get all of these, as each treasure spot can give you one of three different prizes. If you get something good during your early Colosseum playthroughs, you might consider Yielding after the match so that you can keep the items.
Rounds 8 and 9 start to get a little tougher. Play more conservatively, and keep Richard away from the action so that he can charge MP and use Revivify if needed.
The final round against Luther is the game's final challenge. In a perfect world, Gilles and Marcel will attack Luther and have Three Rounds activate each time, thus stacking multiple burning auras on one square. Have Rufus lower Luther's defense with Helm Splitter, then use aura'd Dire Swing and Four Hits attacks to take Luther out.
Luther will protect himself with HP Recovery III (healing 450 HP per turn) and Counter II (interrupting your up-close attack attempts). There's a lot of randomness to this battle, so keep Richard back to use Revivify if necessary. Don't be stingy with items - you should already have the Hoarder achievement, and there's nothing else to save them for at this point.
If you can down Luther quickly, mopping up the rest of the enemies is simple. Bedford will probably get in your way while fighting Luther, so feel free to take him out early. The Dragon and Tiamat enemies will surely start attacking you while you're engaged with Luther, but they're easy to take down with Helm Splitter and Sweep! when they're the last ones standing.
Clearing the Colosseum's third run will net you another Godspeed skill stone, and this achievement:
What We Do in Life Echoes in Eternity (50) Complete all 10 rounds in "Free Combat" stage: "Colosseum 3"
And... that's it! Continue on with the collection achievements if they aren't yet finished. Any other achievements you've yet to unlock should be self-explanatory.
You'll need to acquire one of every weapon, armor, shield, and consumable item to unlock these achievements. They must be in your inventory - equipped items are not counted towards the achievement (just Remove things as needed). Again, it's important to hang on to all items and equipment, as the achievement tracking isn't recording which things you've acquired in the past - you have to own them all at the same time.
The "Acquired?" columns are not exhaustive - I've listed just one shop or mission where you should be able to grab the item easily.

Hoarder (25) Obtain all single use items
You'll need to collect each of the Coup de Grâce (red), Latent Skills (purple), Magic (green), and Status Boosts / Extra Abilities (blue) skill stones. You'll also need to create all possible skill stones at least once through Skill Binding - you'll be working on these goals simultaneously.
You do not need to completely fill out the Skill-Binding "View Formulas" page - as long as each skill stone appears in the list on the left, it's fine to have "??? + ???" entries on the right.
A Beacon of Knowledge (50) Create all skill stones possible through skill-binding
Some skill stones cannot be created through skill binding; some cannot be found or bought elsewhere. This list below has been adapted from other sources to try and put useful info into a single table. For the few skill stones only found when dropped by (or stolen from) an enemy, I've just listed one option.
