2) Introduction

Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town is one of the most solid games in the franchise. Even with some questionable design choices (the mountain cottage and town cottage are clear examples of it), the game holds itself as one of the best farming simulators out there.

While the set achievements are very straightfoward, some proper planning will help in the long run. This guide aims to help players that are willing to get all achievements, and don't want to waste too much time grinding in-game years to get specific items and events. Be warned, while not hard to get, some achievements are unavoidably grindy to get. Problematic achievements will be 🚩highlighted . Ones that are missable will be ❗️marked as well.

Achievements will be grouped per category. Since this game is pretty "sandboxy", it's not necessary to follow a walkthrough. For the most part.

3) Activities

Things related to farming, mining, cooking, fishing, husbandry, shopping and a few miscellaneous ones. This session includes the most of problematic achievements of the set, keep an eye out for those, marked with a 🚩. No missables ❗️ here.

I'll elaborate better on the "Specific Achievements" session, but don't forget to store a little of everything you get on your shelves and refrigerator. Special attention to the following:

- Mines: Mythic Stone, Pink Diamond and Alexandrite

We need to be serious here. I want you to give a good look at the following screenshot, of what is needed for each Sun.

I'm sure you can see the MONSTROSITY that the Autumn Sun is to be made. You'll have to grind for those X items, especially the wool and yarn. More details on the "Important Achievements".

Mining

There is a guide on the "Important Achievements" on how to proceed in the mines with more efficiency. Be sure to check it out if you don't want to waste a trip just to get the Recipe item. But just a heads up, IF you want to get to the bottom floor sometime, do the Lake Mine first. There is no reason to explore the Spring Mine beyond floor 100 early on.

It's PAINFUL to grind for the Kappa Jewel on floor 0, be warned. You'll need a lot of luck to get it.

- 6. In Mary's Library, 2nd floor, middle set of shelves, furthest one to the right
The following Jewels aren't required for the achievement:
- 7. Play the New Years gameshow on the tv inside of the Town Cottage.
- 8. Drops from the calendar in the Mountain Cottage
- 9. Take all 8 to Thomas' house and check the refrigerator

(You won't need to be married for 50 YEARS, or spend 100.000.000G on a house for this achievement.)

First of all, to obtain any cursed tool, you need to have all of your tools on Mystril tier. They are obtained by digging on floors 29, 39, 49, 59, 69 and 79 of the Lake Mine. 5) Friendship and Marriage

This page is dedicated to the achievements for maxing friendship with the villagers. Important characters to befriend are marked with "🤝", mostly because there are missable achievements and important events related to them. Be sure to keep them in mind, and max their friendship out as soon as possible.

To marry the Goddess, you'll need to do the following:

Catch all the different species of fish, including the 6 Kings
Ship at least 1 of every shippable item
Collect all 9 of the Goddess Jewels and receive the Gem of Goddess
Own the Big Bed for your home
Dig up every type of item from the Lake Mine
Dig up every type of item from the Spring Mine
Be in your 5th year (or later) on the farm
Ask Carter for permission to "Marry the HG" during his Confessional times

The most time-consuming part is to be on year 5 and beyond, and get permission to marry her on the confessional.

To do so, skip to year 5, go to the church on Mondays and Wednesday, around 1pm, and save in front of the confessional. Now you gotta try to get the option to confess to marry her, AND need to have approval for doing so. If you didn’t get the option, or have not been approved to marry her, reload your save until it happens. Be warned, this is VERY GRINDY AND REPETITIVE.

Harvest Sprites

There doesn't need to be time wasted here with explanations about the sprites. Just buy 7 flours at the supermarket and gift it to them from time to time. You should be aiming to do it as soon as possible, since their help on the farm is very valuable.

7) Important Achievements

Now, the most important thing for this set is planning ahead. If you do it properly, there are about 5 achievements that will pop consecutively if you play your cards right while storing your items and cooking them.

Animal Planning: Shipping and Cooking

To start things off, there are two achievements that will be your main goal on your farm activities:

Versatile Seller (25)
Ship one of every shippable item

Cookpad (25)
Learn and cook every recipe from the cookbook

Most of the stuff you need to get are just part of the normal gameplay. But you will need to start planning ahead as soon as possible on achieving those goals. Be sure to check this animal page and this recipe page to be sure of the process you'll need to do.

Small (S) products won't be a problem, since you can just buy a new animal and you'll almost immediately get that quality tier. Store about 6 of each, just to be sure.
Medium (M) products takes time to be collected, and will be the first ones you need to be aware of how much you have, because you'll need to decrease the heart level of your animals if they're giving large (L) products, or they are still on small (S) and need time to improve. Try to store 6 of each as soon as possible.
Large (L) won't be a problem as well, since they are tied with the natural progression you'll have with your animals. Store about 6 of each, just to be sure as well.
Golden (G) products are your first priority. You get them with animals that have between 8 - 10 hearts, and have won their respective festival, BUT they haven't spent 600 hours outdoors. If they do, they will produce Platinum ( P ) products and WILL NOT get back to Golden (G). PERIOD. Do the following:
- Name each of your first animals something like "Gold". NEVER take those out of the barn/coop. They will take a while to get hearts, but you will be 100% sure that when they get to 8-10 hearts, and win their respective festival, they will produce Golden (G) products and will not skip straight to Platinum ( P ). Remember to store 6 products as well.
Platinum ( P ) products, as you have guessed, are made when the animal has 8-10 hearts, won their respective festival, and have spent 600 hours outside. It's possible that you'll get those products naturally, but don't forget that your initial priority is Golden (G) products. It's up to you if you wanna store any quantity, but do it anyways.
(X) products... You have a 1 in 255 chance to get it instead of the Platinum ( P ) your animals are producing. The thing is, you don't NEED to get all of them naturally. You can cook (S) + (M) + (L) + (G) + ( P ) on the kitchen, and you'll get their (X) relative. That's why you have stored all those products, to avoid waiting for luck to be on your side, and to complete the cookbook as well. There is a problem though. You will still need to get 4 Wool (X) . One to sell, one for the Autumn Sun, one to transform into a Yarn (X) that will be sold, and another that will be used in the Autumn Sun as well.
- Best way to get is to save in front of the sheep that produces Wool ( P), shear it, reload until you get the Wool (X), and wait a week to get another. PAIN, I know.

And that's it for this part. Basically, following this guide, you won't need to wait A WHOLE YEAR to participate in the festivals, just because you got another chicken producing ( P ) Eggs and you haven't yet obtained the (G) Eggs.

Triggering specific events.

Advice for Manna (1)
Learn about Aja from Manna at Rose Square

This event triggers only on the first year, before Fall 14, on a sunny day. It happens if you walk to the plaza from south, between 1pm and 4pm.

Following NamelessPlushie's advice on the achievement comment session, it's possible that you need to be friends with Sasha, Anna and Manna for the event to trigger. The event can happen on Spring 8 if you give gifts to the women every day. Give Flowers to Sasha, Flour to Anna and Honey to Manna.

In the meantime, if you started a new game, I suggest starting to work on the following achievement as well:

Celebrate Ann and Cliff's wedding

Blue heart event can ONLY be triggered during Spring and Summer of Year 1. You will want to watch both the Black heart and Blue heart events before skipping to year 4. You can find how to trigger those events on the Rival Marriage session. Step by step guide on what to do is found ahead.

Doctor And Nurse (10) Celebrate Elli and Doctor's wedding

More Than A Friend (10) Celebrate Karen and Rick's wedding

Romantic Novel (10) Celebrate Mary and Gray's wedding

Ebony and Ivory (10) Celebrate Popuri and Kai's wedding

For the remaining rival marriages, you will NOT get those achievements playing normally. Your game needs to be at least on year 4 for Orange heart events to trigger, and you'll need some complicated relationship and love points with the bachelorettes and rivals to trigger the rival events. Realistically, you'll play the game normally for just 3 years. After that, most of the stuff that needs to be done will be realized after you do a some fast forward for days or seasons ahead.

The following is the best steps you can do to start working on the achievements.

Start a New Game
Talk at least once to the bachelorettes and rivals. The events won't trigger if you never talked to both of them.
Watch black heart and blue heart events for Cliff.
Skip to Fall 14, accept the job at the winery, and recruit Cliff.
Fall 15, at 10am, go to the winery and play the cutscene.
Sleep until Spring 2, Year 4. Save your game.
Follow the guide on "Rival Weddings and Events" page for each candidate.
After seeing the Orange heart event, they will get married in a week. You will not get invited, but you still can crash at the wedding. If there is a festival happening on the day, go to the church on the next day.
Don't forget to watch their post-wedding event, since there are achievements for that as well.
Work on the next couple.

I suggest working on the candidates on the following order:

Ann/Cliff first, because you'll need heart events that have happened on Year 1 AND to make friends with Doug to trigger the post-marriage event (reload save);
Elli/Doctor and Mary/Gray second and third, since they are very straightforward (reload save);
Popuri/Kai fourth, because it needs to be Summer AND is required for the next couple (DON'T reload save);
Karen/Rick last, because Popuri needs to be married to trigger the last event.

Mine efficiency

If you follow the next guides, you'll descend deep into the mines just twice for each mine. Be mentally prepared, because you will need to hammer and dig A LOT on floors that are very big. It's important to use both save slots, since there is a chance you will not find desired items, and need to reload a save that your character is on a previous floor. It also helps to know the shortcuts to quick change your tools (L + B).

Spring Digger (10)
Get every type of item from the Spring Mine

Requirements for first time going deep:

Blessed all of your tools;
For tools, bring just your hoe and hammer;
For food, bring a few Bodigizer XL and a few Turbojolt XL. You'll probably throw them out when finding valuable items in the mine.
Exit on floor 123, no need to go deeper than that until year 3.

Items you will need to find:

Power Berry on floor 100 (save on previous floor if you don't find it);
Goddess Jewels found on floors 60, 102 and 123 (save on previous floor. You got the drill);
At least 3 Mythic Stones found of floors 60, 102 and 123, your priority is to upgrade the Watering Can, the Hoe and the Fishing Pole. If possible, try to get 4 or 5, because the next time you deep descend, you might run out of space on your inventory with all the Goddess Jewels collected.

Requirements for second time going deep:

Be at least on year 3;
For tools, just your hoe and hammer;
For food, a few Elli Leaves, and the remaining slots of Bodigizer XL, Turbojolt XL;
You will be exiting on floor 255. Good luck.

Items you will need to find:

Teleport Stone on floor 255;
Recipe on floor 255;
Goddess Stones on floors 152, 155, 171, 190, 202, and 222;
Mythic Stones found on floors 60, 102, 123, 152, 155, 171, 190, 202, and 222. You will need at least 5 more (three for upgrading the remaining tools, one to sell, one to use on a recipe)

Lake Digger (25)
Get every type of item from the Lake Mine

Requirements for first time going deep:

Upgraded all of your tools to Mystril,
For tools, bring just your hoe and hammer;
For food, bring a few Bodigizer XL and a few Turbojolt XL;
Bring your Basket, you will want to sell stuff you find and not waste inventory space.
Exit on floor 80

Items you will want to find:

Cursed tools, found on floors 29, 39, 49, 59, 69 and 79. STOP USING (L + B) TO CHANGE YOUR TOOLS AFTER FINDING ANY OF THE CURSED ITEMS.
Kappa Jewels found on floors 40, 60 and 80.
Alexandrite found on floor 50. Get at least two if possible;
Pink Diamond found on floors 30 and 70. Get at least two if possible;
If you have empty slots on your inventory, keep one of any of the following jewels:
Diamond, Sand Rose, Moon Stone, Emerald.

Requirements for second time going deep:

For tools, just your hoe and hammer;
For food, a few Elli Leaves, and the remaining slots of Bodigizer XL, Turbojolt XL;
You can bring your Basket, but it will be more of a nuisance than any help,
You will be exiting on floor 255. Good luck.

Items you will want to find:

Kappa Jewels found on floors 120, 140, 160, 180, and 255;
Alexandrite that you find on floors 50, 100, 150, 200, 251 and below;
Pink Diamond you find on floors 30, 70, 90, 110, 130, 170, 190, 255
Any of the following jewels that you still haven't stored:
Diamond, Sand Rose, Moon Stone, Emerald.

Lastly, there is a Kappa Jewel on floor 0. It is VERY RARE to be able to find it. Believe me, your game is not bugged if you don't find it. It really is that rare to get.

8) Conclusion

Always keep in mind that this set is a beast to master. It IS possible, and it is possible to play it casually without worrying too much about the achievements.
