[Disclaimer]
** This guide is written on the intention that you have already played the main set to its entirety and know of all possible spoilers. **
While most of the main storyline achievements are in order as TheMysticalOne has them listed on RetroAchievements, some may be gotten at different times depending on your style of playing. This guide is how I personally played through the entirety of the game and is not intended to be a direct way you should play, only a suggested way in getting the achievements the fastest way I could find for 100% completion. If you are a casual player and do not care about mastering sets, I would suggest experiencing this subset without the use of my guide. If you are wanting to master the set then continue on. I will provide many notes and important things necessary to unlock each achievement. Be sure to collect all items and treasures you come across, including the mini medals. These are crucial to unlocking all achievements!
There are four sections in this guide
- I. King Trode's Battle Menu Achievements
-
II. Main Storyline Achievements
- [Chapter I] Let’s Start Chatting
- [Chapter II] Chat Pickin' Thieves
- [Chapter III] Trode's Tunnel Tunes
- [Chapter IV] Holy Chat!
- [Chapter V] Chitty Chatty Charmles
- [Chapter VI] Deadly Dark Dhoulmagus Dialogue
- [Chapter VII] Jessica Left Us on Read...
- [Chapter VIII] Carrie and Cash's Casino Chat
- [Chapter IX] Ghosted by Red
- [Chapter X] Muting Marcello
- [Chapter XI] Rhapthorne's Raging Rant
- [Chapter XII] Dragontalk
- III. The Dragon Drubber Achievement
- IV. Extra Notes / Thanks
Please be aware that because all of these are one-time only chats, it should go without saying the entirety of the achievements on this set are missable. I would highly recommend making plenty of back-up saves during your adventure. While RetroAchievements has recently introduced the multi-set functionality, I would also advise that you play this particular subset on a new standalone file as some instances could interfere or lock you out of getting certain achievements on the main set. From my experience, it is far too difficult to keep up and manage all of the achievements to be playing this subset in conjunction with the main.
One last thing – It should be obvious but you will need each character alive for their specific party chats. How are they supposed to chat if they’re dead? xD Anyhoo!
These particular party record chats will appear when you select the Battle Menu option. King Trode has a plethora of dialogue depending on your overall battle stats, distance traveled, time spent adventuring, etc. While they're not necessarily connected with the main storyline achievements, it is still suggested that you check this menu periodically during your lengthy adventure. There are a total of 23 Battle Menu Achievements.

King Trode imparts his first bit of battle wisdom. |
Open the battle menu upon entering Farebury for the first time. |
![]() |
King Trode ponders how many miles you'll cover before the journey comes to an end. |
Open the battle menu once Distance Traveled is 10 miles. If you travel too far early on in the game, this can easily be missed. There will be more of these distance traveled achievements to come, so be sure to check frequently as they can easily be missed if you travel too far. |
![]() |
King Trode recognizes your battles with praise. |
Open the battle menu once Battles is at least 1,000. |
![]() |
King Trode comments on your escaping prowess. |
Open the battle menu once Flees is at least 1,000. |
![]() |
King Trode comments on how scary you are. |
Open the battle menu once Intimidation is at least 1,000. |
![]() |
King Trode comments on how you and the Grim Reaper will be on first-name terms soon. |
Open the battle menu once Times Wiped Out is at least 100. I recommend doing this on a new file and rushing over to the Infamous Monster Hackzilla/Axoraptor repeatedly just outside of Farebury. It can wipe your party out in just a couple of hits making this the fastest way to achieve. Use Fast-Forward. |
![]() |
King Trode comments on an impressive adventuring duration. |
Open the battle menu once Time Spent Adventuring is at least 100:00 |
![]() |
King Trode comments on your extraordinary ability to prolong your adventure. |
Open the battle menu once Time Spent Adventuring is at 999:00. I would suggest leaving the game on Fast-Forward with speed set at x1,000 while you are not playing. Just like most of these other battle messages, this is a ONE-TIME message only. Save your game once you are getting close to the time in case something goes wrong (aka internet disconnect, etc). Funny enough, this achievement is obtainable at the very beginning of the game if you have around 15-30 battles before even obtaining the Crystal Ball from Geyzer. Out of curiousity, Kinzy tested this and even leaving the game on at x1,000 speed this took just about 10 days non-stop to reach the required time. Forty Days Achievement Unlocked. Depending on your computer specs and emulation settings, it could go faster I believe. I would hold this one off for last and once you have beaten the game though. |
|
Fabulous, Nitwit, Delight to Hold, Not Skin Deep King Trode has quite a few things to say about the maximum level the heroes have achieved during your adventure. |
Open the battle menu once the Hero, Yangus, Jessica, and Angelo reach level 99. It does not matter who reaches the maximum level first. Just check the battle menu once each hero hits level 99. If you are able to keep all party members alive throughout the duration of your adventure, Yangus will typically reach this first. Followed by the Hero, Angelo, then Jessica due to their experience curves (and with Jessica being temporarily removed from the party during the Arcadia sequence should you choose to battle a lot). If you're playing this subset, then chances are you already know of good methods of leveling up quickly with the Metal King Slimes. Howlwind Hill and Dragon Graveyard are my preferred spots. |
|
You Would Do Rather Well, Circumnavigating the Globe, On Our Own Two Feet...Or Four, To The Moon King Trode has quite a few things to say about the distances you've traveled during your adventure. |
Open the battle menu once Distance Traveled is 100, 200, 300, and 400 miles respectively. Be sure to check this frequently once you are close to hitting the required numbers as these can each be missed if you travel too far. |
![]() |
King Trode impatiently awaits the acquisition of Jessica's bunny suit. |
Open the battle menu once Jessica is equipped with Bunny Suit and Bunny Ears. Alternatively, you could have Bunny Suit and Fishnet Stockings or Bunny Ears and Fishnet stockings. Just as long as you are missing one final piece for her complete set, this will pop. |
![]() |
King Trode comments on skinning a rabbit. |
Open the battle menu once you have Jessica equipped with the Bunny Suit, Bunny Ears, & Fishnet Stockings. |
![]() |
King Trode senses a heat wave. |
Open the battle menu once you have Jessica equipped with the Dangerous or Divine Buster. |
![]() |
King Trode wishes you weren't so impatient about alchemy. |
Open the alchemy pot menu as soon as you arrive to Peregrin Quay for the first time. |
![]() |
King Trode advises you to believe in yourself and fight. |
Open the battle menu after defeating Marcello and the Black Citadel emerges in the sky. |
![]() |
King Trode comments on you being quite the connoisseur of items. |
Open the battle menu once you have acquired all 356 items. This includes the Gospel Ring you receive from Trode for defeating all enemies as well. |
![]() |
King Trode comments on your extraordinary monster hunting. |
Open the battle menu once you have defeated every single monster at least once. This includes the Ultimate Dragon in the Dragovian Trials. |
Back to Achievement Categories
As previously stated, these achievements are listed in order the fastest way I could get them and may not reflect the order listed on the subset achievement page itself. I cannot stress this enough, but be sure to make plenty of additional save files just in case you need to backtrack and get something you might have accidentally overlooked or skipped even with the use of my guide. This is a very lengthy game and missing just one achievement could cost you hours of time to go back and get. I will provide additional notes underneath specific achievements where creating a back-up save file is absolutely necessary. In comparison to the Battle Menu achievements, these will all be obtained by pressing the Start Button to open the party chat with who is currently in your party. Again - make sure each member is alive and present so you will earn the achievement for their specific chat dialogues.
Our first chapter of the lengthy chat adventure begins at Farebury and will eventually end after the events at Maella Abbey. There will be a couple of achievements which are mandatory for skipping ahead without Angelo present in the party, but I will let you know when that occurs. For now, collect all items and battle every enemy you encounter to get a jump on gaining experience. Collect everything and win all of your fights! There are a total of 9 Achievements in this first Chapter.
We've come but just a short distance on our journey in obtaining all necessary chats to master the set. By now, you should be used to frequently checking not only the Party Chat Menu, but the Battle Menu option as well. This chapter will begin with the conclusion of the Maella Abbey sequence and will follow along until we are able to finally make our way to Trodain Kingdom. There are a total of 19 Achievements in the second Chapter.

Check party chat once you bust open the door to Abbot’s building BEFORE going upstairs to his bedroom. |
![]() |

|
[Jessica] Viewed a party chat with Jessica reminiscing. [Jessica] Viewed a party chat where Angelo can't believe the Abbot is dead. |
These two can be gotten after Angelo joins the party. Once you leave Maella Abbey, Zoom or just run up and enter Simpleton and check the party chat. Both achievements should pop-up one after another. |
![]() |
[Jessica and Angelo] Viewed a party chat after a young maid asks for your help. |
Check party chat immediately after the cutscene with Emma at Ascantha and make sure Angelo is in your party otherwise this will not pop. Do not go up or down the stairs until you get the achievement. This must be done during night-time. |
![]() |
[Jessica, King Trode, Yangus] Viewed a party chat after setting out to help a young maid. |
After getting the last achievement, head outside of Ascantha on the world map. After King Trode’s dialogue, check the party chat. |
![]() |
[Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Angelo ponders the possibilities of a private location. |
Check party chat once you enter Ishmari’s Realm from Wisher’s Peak. |
![]() |
[Jessica] Viewed a party chat where Jessica resolves to see her brother with a smile on her face. |
After the scene with King Pavan and Sasha, you will be brought into a room where the party is feasting away on a banquet of food. All you need to do is exit this room and immediately check your party chat. Don’t go up or down the stairs until you do this. |
![]() |
[Yangus and King Trode] Viewed a party chat where Yangus talks up Pickham for the King |
Zoom or walk to Pickham from Ascantha, BUT DO NOT ENTER. Open the party chat in front of the town and you will get the achievement. Afterwards, make your way to Red’s house. Again, do not enter Pickham yet. |
![]() |
[Yangus, Jessica, Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Yangus just can't relax and thinks you should leave. |
Check party chat once you are at Red’s house. If you've previously entered Pickham and allow Medea to be stolen, this cannot be obtained. |
|
[Yangus, Hero] Viewed for the first time a party chat where Yangus asks if you're a bit of a gambler. [Angelo, Jessica] Viewed for the first time a party chat where Angelo is dismayed there's no poker. |
Now you can finally head into Pickham and get the cutscene with Trode. Afterwards, all you need to do is check the party chat once you enter the casino the first time. Both will pop one after another. |
![]() |
[Jessica and Angelo] Viewed a party chat in Pickham before returning to King Trode |
Head to Brain’s place. After Yangus notices he isn’t there, check the party chat before heading back upstairs. |
|
Before progressing any further, make a back-up save file now! The next achievements will require you to talk to Red prior to getting the Venus Tear, and another where you avoid talking to Red and then get the Venus Tear. I would recommend doing these in the order I have listed below. This is a mandatory back-up save! |
||
![]() |
[King Trode, Yangus, Jessica, Angelo] Viewed a party chat after setting out to recover the Venus Tear |
Check the party chat after talking to Red and leaving her house and you are back on the world map. |
![]() |
[Angelo, Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Angelo wonders why Red hasn't gone to get the Venus Tear |
Check the party chat once you enter the Swordsman Labyrinth. |
|
Now you can reload your old save file to where you have NOT talked to Red yet. After reloading your save, head straight to the Swordsman Labyrinth having not talked to Red. This will guarantee you get the next achievements. Defeat the Trap Box boss and obtain the Venus Tear. Let's head back to Red's house now! |
||
|
[Trode, Yangus] Viewed a cutscene where Trode doesn't understand why Yangus didn't hand something over. [Angelo and Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Angelo suspects foul play, which angers Yangus |
After obtaining the Venus Tear, head to Red’s place and speak with her. Exit her place and you will automatically get a cutscene with Trode for the first achievement. Turn back around and go straight to Red’s once again (don’t go inside her house yet). Open the party chat to get next achievement. |
![]() |
[Yangus, Jessica, Angelo] Viewed a party chat hoping Brains is home this time. |
After getting Medea back, enter Pickham and check the party chat. |
After we have wrapped up the events in Pickham, we'll now make our way back home to Trodain Kingdom. We're making good progress thus far, but there are still many more chatty achievements to acquire. This chapter will end after the events of Trodain and once we have obtained the legendary Ancient Ship from the wastelands near the Hilltop Hut. There are a total of 12 Achievements in the third Chapter.

|
[King Trode, Medea] Viewed a party chat between King Trode and Medea in the courtyard of their ruined castle. [Jessica] Viewed a party chat where Jessica is amazed at the destruction Dhoulmagus caused. |
Upon entering Trodain Kingdom the first time, you will get a cutscene about Dhoulmagus covering the kingdom in thorns. After the cutscene, check the party chat for the …Neigh achievement. Once you get this achievement, all you need to is walk back a few steps. Even if you get a battle encounter, check the party chat right after and you should get How Strong around the entrance of the castle. |
![]() |
[Trode] Viewed a cutscene where Trode gets mad at his minister. |
Talk to the Minister covered in vines in the central room at Trodain. |
![]() |

After talking with Ishmari from Trodain Castle portal about the magical harp, simply exit Trodain back to the world map and check the party chat. |
|
[Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Angelo wonders if he's feeling overly sentimental. [Hero, Marcella] Viewed a cutscene where Marcello gives you an actual clue that is helpful. |
After getting Part of My Kingdom achievement, zoom to Maella Abbey and check the party chat once entering to get the Alien achievement. From here, continue inside Maella Abbey and speak with Marcello to get Rings a Bell achievement. Note that it must be daytime in order to visit Marcello in his room - there is a guard blocking his room during the night. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Jessica hates thieves. |
After discovering King Pavan’s treasures have been stolen, enter the cave directly ahead. Once you are in the cave, check the party chat. |
![]() |
[King Trode, Angelo] Viewed a party chat where King Trode comments on a long tunnel, and Angelo questions his morals. |
After exiting the cave behind Ascantha, check the party chat for a message from King Trode. |
|
This next achievement requires you to die. If you are the type like me who wants a perfect battle record, now would be a good time to make another back-up save. This is the first of a few other boss battles which require you to die for one-time unique party chats. Create a back-up save should you choose to do so! |
||
![]() |
[Trode] Viewed a party chat where King Trode is surprise at who stole something. |
Make your back-up save file at Ascantha should you choose to do so. Then continue to fight Don Mole as normal. Allow yourself to get killed by Don Mole – pretty embarrassing, yet required. After he kills you to death with his bad music, leave the Ascantha church and head out to the world map. Immediately check the party chat for this achievement to pop. Afterwards, reload your old save file if you wish. |
![]() |
He Lives In My Castle, Doesn't He? [King Trode, Jessica] View a party chat where King Trode declares Ishimari his subject. |
After defeating Don Mole, use Evac to go outside the Mole Hole and check party chat. |
![]() |
[King Trode, Medea] View a party chat where King Trode praises Medea for getting the party shipborne. |
As soon as you are in control of the ancient ship, immediately check the party chat. |
Before progressing any further – now that you have the ancient ship you are free to traverse wherever you want. I will try to keep these next achievements listed in order as how the game is intended to be played. You may do whatever you want from here on out, but this is how I played the set and what worked for me and the best way to grab the achievements quickly. For now, let's sail to Neos! There are a total of 10 Achievements in the fourth Chapter.

|
[Jessica] Viewed a party chat where Jessica is impressed by a large statue. [Jessica, Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Jessica find a situation scary at night and Angelo tries to flirt with her. |
*NOTE You must first enter Neos during the daytime to initiate the HOLY COW achievement. After you get this, wait until nighttime to initiate the Worship at Night achievement. DO NOT initiate the cutscene with Marcello at the entrance of the Neos cathedral until you get both of these achievements! |
![]() |
Trickster Written All Over Your Face [Jessica, Angelo, Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Jessica deduces that gambling his Yangus's forte. |
From Neos, make your way towards the Seaview Church. Once there, feel free to rest up but DO NOT initiate the cutscene with the young boy inside the church. Doing this will cancel out this achievement. After leaving the Seaview Church, make your way to Baccarat and check the party chat as soon as you enter. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Yangus, Angelo] Viewed a party chat where the companions wonder what Dhoulmagus is really like as a person. |
Upon entering Baccarat, go upstairs in the hotel to start a cutscene with the bartender. Once it ends, immediately open up party chat. *Note – Dhoulmagus is NOT a good bloke (lol). |
![]() |
[Angelo, Yangus, Jessica] Viewed a party chat about what may await on the Isle of Darkness. |
After the scene at Baccarat, head outside town and immediately open party chat on the world map. From here, let's get back on the ship and sail towards the Savella Cathedral. |
![]() |
[Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Angelo prefers a casino to a church. |
Check the party chat once entering Savella Cathedral for the first time. |
![]() |
[Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Angelo doesn't want to share his thoughts with you. |
After the cutscene with Marcello in Savella Cathedral, you will need to check the party chat immediately after, or, once you initiate the two guards scene afterwards. Just make sure you get this before leaving Savella Cathedral. |
![]() |
[King Trode] Viewed a party chat where King Trode Marvels at an invention. |
Exit Savella Cathedral after the cutscene with Marcello and immediately check the party chat once you are back on the world map. Note – If you have already visited Dark Ruins and was told about the Sun Mirror then another message from King Trode will take priority over this one. If this happens, reload an older save file and try again. This is why I have these listed in order the way I do. |
|
[Yangus, Jessica] Viewed a party chat where Yangus and Jessica talk about catching up to the villain. [Yangus, Angelo, Jessica, Trode] Viewed a party chat where the gang wonders if ol' Toad-face and the 'orse princess be changed back when they win? |
Zoom back to Seaview Church and take the ship to the Dark Ruins island. Talk to Golding’s guard by their ship to begin a short cutscene. Afterwards, make your way to the Dark Ruins to get another scene where Dhoulmagus enters the ruins. Check the party chat after for Blimey Lummy achievement. Now go inside the ruins and run until you get teleported out. Talk to Golding’s guard once more for another cutscene. Now immediately exit this area back to the world map and check your party chat for the Worry About Appearances achievement. |
While the main set requires us to first visit the Mystical Spring before the Royal Hunting Ground sequence to obtain all of Medea spring scenes – This is NOT required for this subset. In fact, if you visit the Mystical Spring before, you will miss out on one particular achievement later on and will have to reload from an old save. Having said that, DO NOT visit the Mystical Spring yet. We will do that a little later on from here. For now, just head into the Argonia castle. The quickest way to get to Argonia would just be going from Princess Minnie's Castle to the outer ledge west of Neos. There are a total of 18 Achievements in the fifth Chapter.

![]() |
[Angelo, Jessica] Viewed a party chat where Angelo wonders if the hero should pretend to be friend to a King |
Check the party chat after a short cutscene where King Clavius reminds you of someone. Make sure you do this before actually talking to King Clavius. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Yangus, Angelo] Viewer a party chat where Jessica goes on a long rant about Princes Charmles |
After the second cutscene where King Clavius has his men search for Charmles, talk to him one more time. Now check the party chat and Jessica will complain about Charmles and you will get this achievement. |
![]() |
[Angelo, Yangus, Jessica] Viewed a party chat where the gang discusses one heck of a shriek. |
After dropping a lizard down ontop of Charmles head with the help of Munchie, return to the Hero. Once you are in control again, head down one floor. Check the party chat. While you get a similar message immediately after gaining control of the Hero again, you must head downstairs in order for this correct message to pop for the achievement. |
![]() |
[Angelo, Yangus, Jessica] Viewed a party chat where Angelo and Yangus ponder a princeling's fighting power. |
After the cutscene where the guards escort Prince Charmles out of the castle, follow behind. This chat can pop-up either on the first floor of the castle or as soon as you immediately exit the castle. Just make sure to get it before leaving Argonia. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Charmles] Viewed a party chat where Jessica tries to be friendly to Prince Charmles. |
Check the party chat outside of Argonia once Prince Charmles joins the party. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Yangus, Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Jessica laments that Medea will be cursed even if uncursed. |
I got this achievement to pop by zooming to Farebury and entering the town and then checking the party chat. It will probably work in any town you enter, but Farebury worked for me. After getting this achievement, head to the Royal Hunting Ground. |
![]() |
[Angelo, Charmles] Viewed a party chat where Angelo tries to convince Prince Charmles to try to fight |
Check the party chat once you enter the Royal Hunting Grounds. |
|
[Jessica, Charmles] Viewed a party chat where Jesscia asks why Prince Charmles hates lizards. [Angelo, Trode] Viewed a party chat where Angelo and King Trode discuss Angelo's interest in jewels |
Check the party chat after defeating the first Argon Lizard. Both will pop as long as you keep chatting to the group. |
![]() |
[Yangus, Charmles] Viewed a party chat where Yangus tries to get Prince Charmles to be a decent human being. |
Once the Great Argon Lizard appears, drop down and take a few steps towards it, but DO NOT begin the battle. Just get fairly close to it and check the party chat. Getting too close will activate the battle. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Charmles, Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Jessica tries to get Prince Charmles to show some gratitude. |
Check the party chat after defeating the Great Argon Lizard. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Charmles, Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Jessica asks Prince Charmles about his arranged marriage. |
Zoom to Argonia but DO NOT enter yet. Check the party chat first on the world map. If you enter Argonia before getting this, you will have to do the entire Royal Hunting Grounds sequence again. |
![]() |
[Yangus, Angelo, Jessica] Viewed a party chat where the gang discusses cheating. |
Check the party chat after the cutscene where Prince Charmles buys another Argon Heart. |
![]() |
[Yangus, Angelo, Jessica] Viewed a party chat after a true heart is revealed. |
Check the party chat once you reveal to King Clavius the real Argon Heart. |
![]() |
[Angelo, Jessica] Viewed a party chat where Jessica and Angelo discuss a royal engagement. |
Check the party chat as soon as you obtain the Magic Mirror. Make sure you check the party chat before you exit the castle. |
![]() |
[Angelo, Trode, Jessica, Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Angelo asks if Trode may reconsider a decision. |
After obtaining the Magic Mirror, exit Argonia and check the party chat on the world map. |
![]() |
Odd Bunch of Flea-bitten, ill-begotten, Ne'er-do-well Weirdos Viewed a cutscene where you are heavily insulted trying to head through a gate. |
From here, make your way towards Arcadia. You will get a cutscene with two guards at the gate entrance who will scold you for traveling with a monster and refuse to let you enter. This achievement will only pop if you have not visited the Mystical Spring yet. |
After wrapping up the events at Argonia, we are now ready to restore the Magic Mirror to finally gain access to the Dark Ruins. Before doing so however, we need to take care of a few more one-time party chats. This chapter also includes another boss battle in which we are forced to lose. As a reminder, make sure you are checking your Battle Menu frequently for achievements from King Trode as well. I may sound like a broken record at this point but make BACK-UP saves! This chapter will end once we defeat Dhoulmagus once and for all! There are a total of 15 Achievements in the sixth Chapter.

[Angelo, Jessica Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Angelo ponders where to settle down. |
As with the Rather Stay a Horse achievement we gotten earlier, all I did was Zoom to Farebury town and check the party chat. This will probably work in other towns, but Farebury worked for me. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Angelo, Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Jessica comments about who is guarding the dark ruins and Angelo comments how waiting for Dhoulmagus would be foolish. |
Zoom back to the Dark Ruins with the Magic Mirror (not charged yet). Check the party chat. After doing so – try to place the mirror on the stone and receive a message from Golding's guard that it will not work yet. While I do not believe it is 100% necessary to do this, I would advise doing it either way just to be on the safe side for a future achievement. |
![]() |
[Yangus, Jessica, Angelo] Viewed a party chat where Yangus wouldn't mind the guv joining him were he to go back to being a bandit. |
Head to the Old Seer’s house before the Mystical Spring but DO NOT ENTER YET. Check the party chat right before entering the house. This is the achievement that I mentioned in the previous chapter that can be missed if you first visit the Mystical Spring before beginning the Royal Hunting Ground sequence. I don’t think anyone wants to replay the Royal Hunting Ground and listen to Prince Charmles whine again so make sure you followed my instructions from earlier! |
|
[Yangus, Jessica, and Trode] Viewed a party chat where Yangus and Jessica wonder what King Trode really looks like? [Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Yangus expresses his displeasure about the mirror. |
After the cutscene at Mystical Spring where Princess Medea’s true form is revealed briefly, exit the spring and check the party chat for the Regal Appearances achievement. From there, return to the Seer's house. After learning about the Sea Dragon spell from the Seer, all you need to do is exit his house and check the party chat once outside for the Dud Piece of Glass achievement. |
![]() |
[Angelo, Yangus, Jessica] Viewed a party chat where the group wonders if this mirror will need them to fetch even more things? |
Once you have gotten the Dud Piece of Glass achievement, Zoom to Farebury for another party chat inside the town. As stated before, I think other towns will work but Farebury did it for me. While I am not 100% certain, if you forgot to place the mirror on the stone as previously mentioned in the Drawing the Shortest Straw achievement (before recharging the mirror), I do not think this will pop. I could be wrong however. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Angelo, Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Jessia wonders what you'll do if the mirror doesn't work. |
Immediately after getting the Magic Mirror recharged into the Sun Mirror, while still on the ship, check the party chat to get this achievement to pop. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Angelo, Yangus] Viewed a party chat where Jessica asks Angelo about his plans after completing his Templar task. |
After getting the Magic Mirror recharged into the Sun Mirror, zoom to Farebury and check the party chat inside the town. |
![]() |
[Jessica, Angelo, Yangus] Viewed a party chat where the gang comments on hero's position in Trode's castle guard. |
After putting the Sun Mirror in the stone, exit the Dark Ruins area and check the party chat on the world map. Do this before actually entering the Ruins once litten. |
![]() |
[Angelo, Yangus, Jessica] Viewed a party chat where the gang comments on Jessica's un-ladylike mission. |
Afterwards, Zoom to Farebury town and check the party chat. Yangus and Angelo will proceed to make fun of Jessica. |
![]() |
[Angelo, Jessica, Yangus] Viewed a party chat Angelo is concerned that not everyone might make it out alive. |
Afterwards, Zoom back to the Dark Ruins and open up the party chat before entering the temple. |

The Casino Quest! With this upcoming sequence, you will have the option of choosing either Cash or Carrie to protect while making your way through the Dragon Graveyard. Obviously, there will be unique dialogue depending on whom you pick so this will require two runs through the entire graveyard and beating Red Horn and Blue Fang twice as well. Before going any further, best make a back-up save now. There are actually two achievements before we select a sibling to assist. After we get these, then we will proceed to first help Carrie. We will help Cash a bit later. This chapter will end once we've completed the quest for each sibling. There are a total of 15 Achievements in the eighth Chapter.

[Yangus, Jessica, Angelo] Viewed a party chat where the party may just have saved the world? |
CHECK THE PARTY CHAT IMMEDIATELY AFTER DEFEATING LITTLE RHAPTHORNE. The timing on this is very strict! This has to be done before you trigger the building falling apart otherwise it will be missed. |
Congratulations! You have beaten the main game. If you might have missed any of the main storyline achievements prior to reaching this point (minus King Trode’s Battle Menu stuff), I would suggest going back on previous saves and trying to get what you missed. Feel free to ask any questions or send me a message if you are stumped or confused on how to get a certain achievement. With Rhapthorne finally defeated, we will now focus on the post-game achievements. It's been a long journey but we are not quite done yet! There are a total of 6 Achievements in the final Chapter.
The holy grail achievement of the Party Chat Subset. With it being worth 50pts and only being gotten at the very end of the game, I figured to make this lone achievement its own section. If you are struggling, or have any difficulties, I would advise going back and farming more Metal King Slimes to further advance your party's overall stats. Make sure you have the best available equipment on hand - minus weapons.. cough. That will be explained momentarily..

King Trode imparts the honorary title of 'The Dragon Drubber' upon thee. |
Here we are - The Dragon Drubber Achievement. This lone achievement will require you to defeat the Lord of Dragovians in is human form - and any dragon form with having absolutely no weapons equipped on any of the party members. Armor, accessories, and items are fine to keep equipped and in your belongings. You will know you are good to go when the Lord of the Dragovians gives a unique dialogue asking if you are certain you wish to battle him with no weapons equipped prior to the fight. I would store all weapons in your bag prior to the fight just in case. You are free to use healing items, healing spells, and stat buffs – nothing else. Using attacking abilities like Dragon Soul will cancel this out and you will not get the achievement. Psyching up and Timbrel of Tension is still allowed (and definitely recommended!) The earliest we can get this is the first stage - The Vermillion Dragon. Upon defeating the first Trial, you will be teleported back to Dragovian Sanctuary. From there, open up the Battle Menu to receive the achievement from King Trode. |
Note - It has recently come to my attention, that during the trials, you only need to defeat the Lord of Dragovians in his human form with no weapons equipped. If you defeat his human form and then were to die against his dragon form (at any stage during the trials), you will still receive the achievement once opening the Battle Menu. Special thanks to TheLooseGroose for addressing this incase the challenge was much harder than you expected. However, it will tarnish your times wiped out record if you care about it. |
As this guide comes to an end, I would personally like to thank TheMysticalOne for creating one of, if not, the best sets, on RetroAchievements. I may be a bit biased since this is one of my favorite games, but the progression and way he has developed the set makes it truly one of the best on RetroAchievements. Another shout-out to Gollawiz for making some very creative achievement badges which work awesome in this set. I would like to thank the other users who voiced their input and suggested many of these achievements - Overkill2301, Slime95, and Gudra. As much as I’ve played this game over the years, there was TONS of dialogue and special cutscenes I had never seen before, nor would I have ever gone out of my way to even see them had it not been for this subset! This has truly been a great experience for tearing apart an old RPG and digging through every possible chat scenario. You won’t find this stuff on any other FAQ’s or 100% Guides online. This is why I love being a part of the RetroAchievements community. I would also like to give a shout-out to bdjeffyp and Nepiki. This was the first guide I have ever written for RetroAchievements and I followed a similar formatting style which bdjeffyp had in the base set. Nepiki then gave me instructions on how to begin the process of creating the guide following all RA guidelines. Thank you all so very much for the hard work and support you have given to make RetroAchievements a wonderful community to be apart of! Having said that – I think there are even more special chats and cutscenes we’ve yet to discover within this game. Once we find them and make necessary revision changes, I will update this guide. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who has contributed to this awesome game over the years! Ya’ll have been awesome to have been a part of this!
But wait….
…. Low level subset challenge possible?
STAY TUNED!!!
