Achievement Guide • Dr. Muto

🏆 Achievement Count: 73
🔢 Points: 561
📅 Set Release Date: February 21, 2026
🎮 Game Release Date: November 11, 2002
- This is a long game but transloaders are positioned across your path fairly frequently, allowing you to save the game and fast travel back to that location.
- There is no penalty for dying. Most items you've collected remain collected through death, and there are checkpoints when entering most rooms. The worst you'll suffer if you die is a slight setback and enemies having respawned.
- If you're shooting for 100% (which is required for some of the achievements) make sure you are thorough in your search for collectables. Although there are no areas that get blocked off and the game always allows you to backtrack, it is much more difficult to find a missing isotope if you return to an area later than if you pick it up your first time through.
Isotopes, terra, Genitor parts, and DNA are the four main resources you'll want to keep your eyes peeled for. To restore Planet Midway you'll need to collect all the terra and Genitor parts, and at least 85% of the isotopes (at least 3612 isotopes, specifically). You'll also want to grab any scrap you can find to build fancy new gadgets with.
For a detailed listing of the locations of every isotope and DNA creature, I'll point you toward DocTabasco's excellent guide over on GameFAQs without which this set would have taken significantly longer to make!
Caution
Be careful when opening Splizz Crates. If any of the isotopes they release disappear before you can collect them, they are gone forever!
A Reactor Full of Isotopes (1) Collect 15 isotopes to prevent the reactor from melting down
A Lab Full of Isotopes (5) Collect 100 isotopes
A Junkyard Full of Isotopes (5) Collect 1000 isotopes
An Ocean Full of Isotopes (10) Collect 2182 isotopes
An Atmosphere Full of Isotopes (10) Collect 3782 isotopes
A Solar System Full of Isotopes (25) Collect all 4232 isotopes
Lost but Not Forgotten (5) Collect "all" 282 isotopes in the Hydro Station on Aqeum
Note
No matter how thoroughly you scrounge every corner of the Hydro Station, you will find that you'll come up 18 isotopes short of the 300 total. Read the FAQ in DocTabasco's guide for more info, but basically the layout of the level was changed after the isotopes were placed and those 18 became inaccessible. After many long attempts at finding them myself, even searching out of bounds and scouring the game memory, I have been unable to find any trace of these isotopes.
If you find any of the lost isotopes, please contact me!
Caution
In the second area of the Hydro Station you will need to break open some crates on top of gas vents to retrieve a terra. Each of these crates contains 5 isotopes. Be warned, if you break open a crate but die before collecting the isotopes inside both the crate and the isotopes will be gone when you return. Much like a Splizz Crate, once these isotopes are gone they are gone forever!

Head inside the cave to the right of the upper conveyor. Behind a pillar, next to an Airbag that is stuck in the floor, you'll find a wooden crate. Inside this crate is a Boing! scrap. Collecting this scrap after you have already collected 7 Boing! scrap from normal scrap crates will cause the scrap counter to increase to 8.

Don't worry about missing anything though. Frickin Laser Beam Barrier Thingy (3) Reach the Lagoon Ending transloader before disabling the water wheel security lasers on Aqeum
Caution
Spoiler | Solution for Frickin Laser Beam Barrier Thingy
After reaching the Lagoon Interior transloader, proceed to the back of the area. To the right, past the water wheel, is a small outcropping with a Rocket Boots powerup. Instead of using the Rocket Boots to reach the Landing Zone, use them to launch up and back toward the water wheel. There is a ledge above you with barrels and landmines. Landing on this ledge will give you access to the top of the water wheel and from there the Lagoon Ending transloader is straight ahead across the reservoir.
That's a Cool Move (5) Complete Cut the Chains without knocking down the steel girders in The Furnaces on Flotos
Note
This achievement comes courtesy of Cool Moves from PlayStation Underground Disc 67! Huge thanks to Sandra Mitchell for being an awesome Game Tester and sharing your findings with us!
Caution
Spoiler | Solution for That's a Cool Move
From the Furnace Interior transloader, in the opposite corner of the room, across the lava, is a doorway. Hop across the islands to reach a platform directly beneath the doorway. There is a Chopper enemy patrolling on the ledge above. Using the ArachniDoc morph, grapple up to the Chopper and collect the terra.
Toilet Humor (0) Flush the toilet in The Lab
Thank You, John! (1) Find John's gift in The Junkyard on Totltec
Caution
Spoiler | Location of John's gift in The Junkyard
Just past the Junkyard Ending transloader there is a smashed car half-submerged in the goo that sinks in further when you stand on it. While standing on this car, transform into a mouse and wait for the car to rise back up fully. Once it does, you will receive a message from John and a number of health potions will appear.
More Gifts from John (1) Find John's gift in The Vats on Totltec
Caution
Spoiler | Location of John's gift in The Vats
Next to the Vats Entrance transloader, there is a platform with a number of pillars and a Gomer switch. Activating this switch will turn off the gas emanating from the pipes sticking out of the goo. Jump across these pipes to a platform, and on the left side of this platform you will find a splizz switch. Flip this switch to move a platform into the next area and spawn a Gomer. Head up the elevator near the transloader, then use the Gomer to trigger the switch across the platform at the top of the stairs. This will extend another platform. Cross the platform, jump through the broken fence, and head left. On your right will be an open container with two Guard Dogs inside. Activate the switch on the back wall of the container, but don't leave yet. Quickly zap the switch a few more times in succession (the electricity should be clearly targetting the switch but does not necessarily need to actually make contact with it.) After about 4 zaps, John will appear behind you along with a few health potions.
I Think You Forgot Something (1) Find the lost transloader on Flotos
Caution
Spoiler | Location of the lost transloader
From the Jupiter City Ending transloader, there is a cave just below the nearest conveyor belt. There are two conveyors coming out from this cave, one above and to the right of the other. Land on the platform to the right of the upper conveyor. Stand about halfway between the conveyor and the edge of the platform and walk towards the cave. The rocks framing the cave entrance should be just slightly to your left. Before you reach those rocks, you will see your morph indicator get jammed, and the prompt to activate a transloader will appear.Better hurry Dr., before the rest of the planets blow up too!
Warning

By entering passwords into the cheat menu, a variety of different effects can be triggered ranging from changing Dr. Muto's appearance to making the Dr. completely immune to damage. Note that while the usage of cheats will not immediately disable all achievements, they will be selectively disabled if the cheats used would trivialize the task required to earn them.
