Arc Rise Fantasia Missable Achievements Guide - RetroAchievements/guides GitHub Wiki
Set developed by OpheliaEnigma, guide written by benit149
Hello, and welcome to my missable achievements guide for Arc Rise Fantasia, a turn-based JRPG for Nintendo Wii developed by Imageepoch and Marvelous Entertainment. It is highly akin to Namco’s Tales series where you’re advancing through an epic story while meeting many characters, learning about them through skits, and fighting battles against complex enemies. In fact, I’d go so far as to call this a discount hybrid of Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Vesperia due to certain allusions I made throughout my run. The plot has you controlling L’Arc, a mercenary working for the Meridian Empire tasked with fighting monsters and guarding a strange girl named Ryfia on the side, while also contending with the three-way struggle between different factions over deciding the world’s ultimate fate.
The combat system involves using Action Points (AP) between your characters to perform any number of things like attacking, casting magic or defending, although the Tactics menu can be set up so you don’t have to distribute AP every single time. While this is fine for regular encounters, I suggest doing manual inputs for bosses and specific challenges so you don’t mess up any particular requirements.
This set has a lot of missables, so it can be frustrating to keep track of everything in a single playthrough. I can definitely say that this rivals Final Fantasy X-2 for how much of a completionist’s nightmare this is. I’ll walk you through everything to hopefully make this journey a bit easier, but if you’re not good at keeping track of so many details, this might not be the best game for you to play. Just a friendly warning, that’s all. In particular are defeating 256 unique enemies and watching 230 skits, along with unlocking outfits for nine party members, so you better be good at organizing information and come prepared for the long haul. You also need to be extremely careful with missables tied to some absurdly tight story triggers. I’ll do my best to cover everything as thoroughly as possible, but be on your toes at all times.
For items found in odd locations like barrels and crates, a ??? notification will come up indicating that something can be found there, so you don’t have to search every single nook and cranny ‘til you drive yourself up the wall. Still, explore every town thoroughly, and make revisits after particular story points. Yeah, this game can be quite cruel with finding treasure, but I’m here to help you out. Ophelia was also gracious enough to allow for 80% of all items to be found in particularly large locations due to how obscure and poorly documented a lot of items are because of all of the backtracking and time-sensitive story triggers. There isn’t much reason to panic if you miss too many items, but follow along here and/or in each achievement’s comments just in case. A major shout-out goes to bryandelmond and Chocoboy94 for documenting their finds for me to source off of. Thank you for your work, guys! You saved me way more time than I could've imagined! <3
There is something else I would like to make special mention of, and it’s one of your party members. Specifically, Niko. My protip is to not rely on him for boss battles. He leaves the party right before boss battles commence so many times that it’s ludicrous. I’m pretty sure it happened four times for me, but I don’t distinctly recall the actual number of times this occurs. He can be used in regular battles, particularly to level up his guns, but he is completely unreliable for boss battles. His personality got on my nerves even early into the game, so I benched him a lot of the time anyway.
Without further ado, let’s get into this.
There will be major story spoilers involved from now on due to heavy reliance on plot triggers. If you wish to enjoy the story for the first time, please stop reading here.
MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
Outfit Achievements
All of the playable party members have outfits that can be unlocked throughout the story. Since there are nine allies, and some characters come and go as the plot dictates, that’s a lot of outfits to look for. I won’t cover every single one here, but I will highlight some of the trickier ones that might screw you if you miss them. In addition, there is a GameFAQs guide by Kiariy that explains everything you need to know. There are some outfits found on the world map that are next to impossible to find unless you know about them, so I’ve provided screenshots for those rather than try to explain where they are, because some of their locations are downright ridiculous.
The really tricky ones to watch out for are Alf’s Mystery Armor, Adele’s Matching Dress and Mystery Nurse, and Niko’s Kopin Costume, so keep those in the back of your mind going forward. I’ll explain those at the appropriate times.
Fight 100% of the 256 enemies available in a single playthrough
You’ll be working towards this throughout the entire game, but there are certain areas that will become inaccessible after particular points in the story, so you want to comb every location as thoroughly as possible before moving on. Fortunately, there’s an in-game bestiary found in the Library section of the menu, though it isn’t available until you do a guild quest in Antrax Parish. That’s about 5 or 6 hours into the story, so you won’t be able to check the entries until then. Just fight everything you come across both on the overworld and in dungeons, with a special mention going to Talos in Dragon Prison in the early game.
I've compiled a comprehensive monster checklist for those wanting to keep track. Some enemies are missable, while others have more vague requirements for appearing. There are inherent spoilers involved for the entries if you would like to avoid being spoiled though.
Watched 230 skits in a single playthrough
Another one that will be completed at the end of the game, but you can view a large number of mini conversations calls skits, very much akin to what’s seen in the Tales series. When you see a message at the bottom right of the screen, press the L1 button to initiate the conversation. The Arc Rise Fantasia Wiki has a checklist (beware of inherent spoilers) of all of the skits and when they occur so you can keep track. There are other incremental achievements associated with watching skits, but 230 is the maximum, so I’ll truncate those and feature just this one here. Certain skits involve some incredibly obtuse triggers, which I’ll highlight throughout this guide. If you’re fearing that you need to perfectly watch every skit that’s available in the game without missing a single one, don’t worry. As long as you’re meticulous with the outfit-related ones, there are more than enough skits to get you this achievement.
Find all item pickups in Retea Forest
Once Ryfia joins the party and you’re free to explore, exit the first screen and fight the mandatory battle, then double back to the first screen and fight the Mandragora to get it out of the way. A Feldragon Scale will be found on the ground where the Mandragora was. This isn’t well documented in existing guides, so watch out for this one. I made a screenshot to show where it is. Proceed south until you see a sparkling object on the right to pick up the Map: Retea Forest item. Continue south and dip west, hopping across the stream to find a chest in the southwest corner containing a Revive Bottle.
One thing you want to do in the meantime is keep your allies at level 4 or lower for a boss challenge coming up shortly. Skip any non-mandatory enemies and head straight to Dragon Prison in the city of Jada as soon as you can. An upcoming character, namely Alf, will join the party one level higher than L'Arc and Ryfia, and level 5 is the maximum level allowed for the challenge, so you want them to be level 4 when you reach Dragon Prison.
Find all item pickups in Topazion
You won’t be getting this right away, but there are 8 items to find in Topazion, which means revisits will be required. These are sorted by the story event, in-town location, any NPCs you speak to, chest locations or hidden treasure spots, and the item acquired. This will be the rule going forward so I don’t have to reiterate myself for every location. Don't worry if you don't understand the story events right now. They'll make sense later.

Defeat the Deathchanter in Jada with L'arc, Alf, and Ryfia at level 5 or below at the start of the fight
What a boss battle to start the game off with! This is the only achievement in the entire set with a level restriction, so you’re free to grind to your heart’s content after clearing this, but you’re going to be in for a rough ride right now. Niko will be in the party as well, but he’s controlled by the AI. Just have your allies focus on Edgy McEdgelor- I mean Deathchanter (doesn’t he look a lot like Sync from Tales of the Abyss?), and let Niko dispatch any undead minions he summons on his own. Deathchanter usually likes to focus on L’Arc (though not always), especially with fire magic, so use the Fire Gem to boost his fire defense prior to the fight.
Hopefully you bought a good supply of Heal Liquids as well – I’m talking around 20, plus some Revive Bottles for emergencies - and have either Alf or Ryfia use them while L’Arc pummels Deathchanter with Excel attacks. L’Arc’s SP meter will be skyrocketing since he’s being targeted so much, so keeping him alive is imperative. I also recommend moving Ryfia away from Deathchanter as far as she can since she doesn’t have much HP, and his spells can potentially target multiple allies. The worst one is Nightmare, which has a chance to cause sleep. I only saw it once, and it targeted Ryfia who didn’t fall asleep, so I got lucky there. When Deathchanter’s HP gets down to about half, he’ll stop summoning minions, so that takes some pressure off as well since Niko will help with attacking him.
This might take you a couple of attempts since RNG is also a factor here, such as with Niko’s attacks, Nightmare causing sleep, AoE spells hitting multiple allies, and critical attacks. You have to pay attention and respond accordingly, or you’ll get wiped quickly.
Find all item pickups in Dragon Prison
This location is broken up into two different visits throughout the story. You should fight the optional enemy Talos on the first visit after defeating Deathchanter. This opens up an optional boss on the second visit that must be defeated then as well.

- First visit, 1F – chest next to a Gargoyle - 1500 rico
- First visit, B1 – left chest in antechamber – Bronze Guard

- Second visit, Top Floor – run towards screen from elevator – Armored Cane
- Second visit, Top Floor – run towards screen from elevator - Elixir
Find half of the item pickups in Diamant Royal City
This and Diamant Royal City Connoisseur are treated as a two-for-one deal, so that achievement’s counter picks up from where this one leaves off, which was a little confusing for me at first. Also note that Castle Diamant is treated as a separate location, which is covered in Castle Diamant Connoisseur. You’ll be getting items back and forth between these two locations during this part of the story.
- Great Bridge – 3rd Nomad Son – Map: Diamant Royal City
- Great Bridge – examine first right-side pillar with flag – MP Charge 1

Unlock the Weapon Secret for Wooden Sword
You can get this as soon as you obtain the Wooden Sword in L’Arc’s house. Level it up to max, along with a variety of other weapons. I don’t think the game does a good job explaining this mechanic, as I didn’t get this until a bit later, but you can move effects around between weapons that have been mastered, represented as Tetris-like pieces that can be fitted onto the weapon’s board. Every weapon has a Weapon Secret that is discovered this way. Fill up the Wooden Sword’s board with pieces from other weapons and you’ll unlock its hidden ability, Fixed SP 50, which gives L’Arc 50% SP at the start of every fight.

Defeat Paula and Luna in Mandelro Coast without healing any party member
A general strategy going forward for these boss challenges is to build up your allies’ SP meters by manually inputting commands during regular battles once you’re ready to fight the boss. If you use the Tactics menu, they tend to waste their Excel Acts when it can be better saved for the boss. For this challenge, since Ryfia isn’t going to be able to heal, plus her Excel Act is a heal, swap her out for Niko. Don’t have the Cool & Sweet gun equipped on him either since it has Auto Liquid, which automatically uses a healing item if his HP is low, causing this to be invalidated.
Do some grinding to unlock Accelerate for L’Arc, and Multisphere for Alf. The former boosts L’Arc’s attack power, and the latter does the same for Alf’s attack and defense. Any boosts you can get will be crucial since this is a rush-down boss. These girls may be Gauche and Droite knockoffs, but they don’t mess around. I had my party at level 13 for this, but maybe get one or two more levels for some security. During the fight, target Luna (blonde girl) first since she has a bit less HP than Paula. It’s pretty much just doing all the damage you can with Excel Acts to get her out of the way, then you can focus on Paula afterward. Note that allies are allowed to be KO’ed, which is likely to happen since Paula is pretty strong.
After all of the story scenes involving Serge and Adele joining the party and the group heading for Kopin Village, re-enter Serge’s ship and examine the sparkling object on the ground to obtain the Matching Dress outfit for Adele, and speak to the Quiet Kopin in the corner for Alf’s Mystery Armor outfit. These are missable, and the Matching Dress is counted towards Carbunculus Senate Connoisseur for some reason.
Exit the ship and head to the right of it along the beach until you see a ??? indicator come up. Examine it for Adele’s Mystery Nurse outfit, then go back into the ship and trigger a skit involving Alf and Adele. Yeah, finding all of this game’s missables can prove to be maddening because of BS like this. As if that’s not enough, there’s also an obscure skit you want to do inside the ship after getting Matching Dress. Approach the luggage near the bottom of the screen and the skit Made-to-Order will come up. Give me a break…

- After major Zeilfellt Holy Tower events – Hospitable Kopin – Inferno Shard
Thought you were done with Serge’s ship? Nope. Go back after getting the School Leader and Class Leader outfits to view another obscure skit. Now you can proceed into Nabra Jungle.
Defeat Vifrons in Nabra Jungle after stealing both items from it
When Serge joins the party, he’ll come with a Rogue Dagger, which has the Arms Force called Steal. Once unlocked, it makes an option to Steal appear in the equipped character’s Arm Force menu. I didn’t know this until later, but unlock its Weapon Secret to get Boost Steal, which improves stealing odds. Vifrons has a Stone Shard and a Resist Leaf, so pay attention to the messages on the far right of the screen for how your character’s steal attempts are faring. Once you obtain both items, the achievement indicator will show up, so you can defeat it as usual.
Vifrons is a fairly hefty difficulty spike, but it uses the classic gimmick of switching between physical and magical attacks. If the flower on its back is purple, it’s using physical attacks, and likewise magical if it’s red. The real problem is that the steal rates in this game are horrendous, so you could be spending loads of turns trying to get steals off while throwing Heal Liquids around to survive Vifrons’ attacks, all before you can even go on the offensive. If all of this is giving you trouble, do some grinding and buy tons of Heal Liquids from the vendor in Kopin Village. A full stack of 99 would be ideal, plus some Revive Bottles and Cure Silences. I had started with 99 Heal Liquids and ended with 42 after my successful attempt. Buy some Coat accessories to boost your allies’ defense as well.
My party was initially at level 15, but it was too difficult to do this challenge, so I tried again at level 17 and did some setup to better prepare myself. Expect to spend a LOT of turns trying to steal – it’s as bad as the steal rates in Final Fantasy IX. If you know what I mean, then feel free to groan in frustration.
Witness the first optional event at Antrax Parish's Inn
Very easy to do, but also very easy to miss. Once you leave Full Moon Inn and reach Antrax Parish, immediately stay at the inn (left of the entrance) to see a scene where the proprietress gives the party a set of nightwear outfits. You need to do this before triggering the events regarding the Tidal Road and the party discussing spending the night at the inn. This also initiates a chain of future inn stays you need to do to acquire sleepwear outfits for party members who join later in the story.

For a skit, you want to buy everyone’s Pilgrim outfits at Tailor: Penelope (you’ll be buying Leslie’s in advance as well), then equip them all in the menu. Also, after seeing the cutscene of L’Arc punching Niko in Olquina Sub-Shrine, stick around for a bit because there are a few skits you’ll want to trigger before returning to Antrax. Adele will leave the party shortly, so you want those time-sensitive skits done ASAP.

Defeat Afanc in Oceansong Road without any party member falling in battle
Hopefully you’ve been boosting your characters’ magic at the various workshops. If not, grind for a while in Oceansong Road to get some money and levels. You’re going to be relying on it to do major damage to Afanc through Syncs, which is when multiple characters use the same attacks or spells on a single target to increase the damage output. For instance, L’Arc, Ryfia and Alf all cast Flame on Afanc to deal more effective damage compared to them casting spells of different elements. I also highly recommend you level your allies to either 22 or 23 so they have enough HP to weather its attacks. Buy lots of Mid Liquids as well since Heal Liquids won’t be able to keep up with the damage. Leslie will contribute with healing of her own, but don’t rely on it too much.
This fight is broken into two phases, so save your best attacks for the second one. Have your three allies equipped with Fire Gems and let Flame rip with all of them on the first phase. Once the second phase starts is when you need to be more careful. Afanc can guard against attacks as well as deal heavy damage to single targets, but as long as you keep up the pressure while healing up to max every turn, you’ll get it down eventually. I also had L’Arc summon Simmah as the killing blow, although it costs 9 AP and you want as much AP as you can for healing rather than big attacks. This can be a little tricky if you’re underleveled, but at least it isn’t as hard as Vifrons.
After defeating Afanc, you’ll witness some major story events at Olquina Shrine, then are reduced to a very small party. First things first, you’ll be forced to go to Diamant, so take care of business and recruit Cecille. You’ll then be carted off to Carbunculus City, so pick up any items there first. Another thing you want to do in Carbunculus is visit every screen in the city since there are different skits tied to most of them. There is a one-time dungeon in the Senate, so be sure to pick everything up and fight any enemies you encounter.
When you escape, go to the tailor’s shop and buy the outfits – you’ll need Ryfia’s The Artist in particular for an obscure skit at Half Moon Inn involving her and Kopin. Another thing you’ll want to do is to get everyone’s animal costumes from the Casino, then go to the beach west of Benetnasch with them equipped to see another obscure skit called Grumpy Menagerie. It costs 6000 tokens per costume, or 36,000 tokens total. In addition, the Scarlet Trinket can be acquired here for The Scarlet Trinket achievement for 10,000 tokens, so you want 46,000 tokens total to clean these out. This doesn’t include the weapons available, which are another 70,500 tokens to earn. That means it takes 116,500 tokens total to clean out the Casino. If you don’t want to do this now, you can hold off until later. I did it now to save myself some backtracking.
There is a method of earning tokens in a short time involving the Kopin Races, which I’ll quote from PSGilmore’s walkthrough:
“1 Token costs 20 Rico, so if you were to buy all the prizes here outright, it would take a lot of money grinding and time off your hands. Instead, what I ended up doing was spend 20,000 Rico to buy 1000 Tokens. Use those 1000 Tokens to bet on Kopin Races. You can bet a maximum of 500 Tokens by pressing left. The goal is to pick the Kopin who will win the race, but you can help the Kopin speed up by shaking the Wiimote (Benit’s note: if you’re using Classic Controller, you can hit A); do so mainly when the Kopin is running. The Kopins to look for and choose are Nanmy, Camil, Gonzalez and Woody, with Joshua or Riddim as decent choices as well. Of those just listed, pick whoever has the highest multiple, i.e. whichever one will win you the most Tokens. You should be able to win more often than lose with these Kopin. If none of them happen to be listed, try your luck with any of the rest: I had decent luck with Karsh and Goemon, who I noted tended to come in third most of the time when I was winning.”
Notice that there are six costumes in the Casino for everyone except Niko. He has a unique one called Kopin Costume, which is missable and found on the world map. Crazy, I know. From Carbunculus, go southeast and walk along the south end of the continent. It’s hard to explain the exact spot, so I made a screenshot of where it’s found. Yes, it is involved in the Grumpy Menagerie skit as well, so be sure to get it.
Once you’re done everything in Carbunculus, you’ll be moving on to Benetnasch.

Witness the first optional event at Carbunculus City's Inn
Much like Pijama Party in Antrax Parish, you need to sleep at the inn in Carbunculus City after breaking out of prison at Parliament and preparing to head to Benetnasch. You will get Cecille and Rastan’s sleepwear outfits. If you don’t do the previous inn stay at Antrax Parish for the other characters’ outfits, you cannot get these ones.

Defeat Fafnir in Gauss Tunnel without using any consumable item
This is pretty tricky since you’ll be relying on magic and Ryfia’s Oracle Heal to recover HP, but you also can’t use MP Charges to restore anyone’s spell charges, so you need to be intelligent with how you use magic. My party was L’Arc, Rastan and Ryfia, and I got them to level 27 while also spending lots of money at Carbunculus’ workshop before I stood a reasonable chance. While Oracle Heal is good for getting around magic uses, the problem is that Ryfia can’t use it on herself, so you want one or both of your other allies to have Water Gems equipped so they can cast Heal as well. You would also want to invest in Level 2 water magic so that someone can cast Cure Status. I had L’Arc summon Simmah on the first turn, then planned my turns according to what was going on. If an ally is KO’ed, you may as well reset since you can’t use Revive Bottles nor are there any resurrection spells available at this time. You should also spread your characters out in a triangle formation around Fafnir so only one ally is targeted at a time by its fiercer attacks.
When you get Fafnir down to 1 HP, another tutorial will be shoved on you regarding Trinity Attacks, where three characters perform an offensive Excel Act on the same target to trigger another powerful attack. You’ll be given 100% SP for everyone, so do as the game says and you’ll win. You want to do this tutorial before attempting to fight the optional boss Racie (the treant found nearby) after this fight since Trinity Attacks will make short work of it.

Defeat Chimera in Galois Ravine without any Rogress equipped
You’ll be recruiting the Rogress (summon monster) Gula along the way, but you want L’Arc to unequip both Gula and Simmah prior to starting this fight. Other than that, you can do this fight however you want. I suggest buying Fire Amulets in Ebur since the boss loves spamming fire-elemental spells. Have Ryfia unlock Aqua Spiral and build up her SP so that she uses it as the killing blow. When you’re about to kill Chimera, have your other two allies at maximum health and defending. The boss uses a devastating attack upon dying, which will likely kill Ryfia but keep the others alive. Also, spread your characters out! This one act alone is the difference between winning and an instant game over. I had lost in my first attempt because my allies were too close together, while my second attempt got me the win since the bulk of Chimera’s attack was focused on one person.
Defeat the other party in the coast of Topazion
This is a three-on-three fight between Alf, Adele and Leslie versus your chosen party members. Ideally, you want to use L’Arc, Rastan and Ryfia for the upcoming strategy. If the point value for this achievement isn’t an indicator, you’re going to be in for quite a tough fight. You are able to lose, but you don’t want to do that here. Thus, there isn’t an achievement indicator to warn you of this challenge. The objective is to defeat Alf as quickly as you can. He can summon Rogress who will do devastating damage to your allies. Girtab is survivable but hard to recover from, but Absin is pretty much a guaranteed loss. Luckily, there is a reliable strategy for the first few turns, as quoted from PSGilmore’s walkthrough:
Turn 1: Set Ryfia to Defend; L'Arc and Rastan each attack Alf once and follow up by throwing Ryfia a Mid Liquid or two. If Wind Raystones are on the field, target those rather than Alf. Next, Alf's team targets the party member with the least amount of HP to hit with a Trinity Act; in this situation, it's Ryfia.
Turn 2: Drop Gula. Alf's team Concentrates and Earth Graves the team. Leslie has a chance to Paralyze someone, so fix that on the next turn.
Turn 3: Trinity Act on Alf using Heavy Crush, Radiant Song and Dark Blade; use any leftover AP to heal status or HP, or Defend if you're doing well. Alf uses Multisphere while Adele and Leslie uses Ignition on the party member with the highest amount of HP; that's who uses Defend if you're doing well since they'll most likely die.
Turn 4: You're hit with Energy Blast, Sonic Rage and Grand Rage from Alf's team. Use this turn to heal up, revive and generally stay on the defense, keeping a minimum of 2AP for the next turn. Everyone needs to be alive for the next turn.
Turn 5: Alf will drop Girtab after Leslie and Adele protects Alf with Stone Wall, so you must kill Alf now. Focus another Trinity Act on Alf using Heavy Crush, Radiant Song and Dark Blade and you should act first with L'Arc's Add SPD+. That should finish Alf and leave the rest of the battle much more manageable without a Girtab summon. And yes, I'm suggesting to ignore the party's warning about trouble coming for this turn.
If Alf doesn't fall in Turn 5, he'll gain a fairly constant Frantic Defense ability, leaving your chances low on taking him out before he summons Absin; even Trinity Acts don't hit through it. For the rest of the battle, break all Wind Raystones, leaving Water Raystones to slightly lower Adele's Fire damage. Adele may use Decadent Song one time, so heal and defend on that turn; you're prompted with that when your team says they sense trouble. Take either out, remembering to heal with Mid Liquids or magic Heal and use an Analyzer if you're collecting their data.
When Leslie is low on HP, she has an Auto-Liquid ability, generally keeping her HP near 2000. Adele has an ability called Block Physical, which is somewhat similar to Alf's; thus, don't go nuts with Trinity Acts on Adele. The main point is the worst part of the battle is over back at Turn 5. Do note that you are allowed to lose this fight; you just don't get a Quad Force and the Rogress Rufunga.
Defeat the optional boss Tartalos
This is done during the second visit to Dragon Prison in Jada. You must have fought Talos during the first visit to be able to fight Tartalos here, and must be done before initiating the boss fight against Weiss.
After finishing this, go up to the Top Floor. Be careful about triggering the boss fight before grabbing the two treasures. Just run straight toward the screen after getting out of the elevator to find them, completing Dragon Prison Connoisseur.
Defeat Weiss in Dragon Prison without any armor equipped in the "Upper Body" and "Lower Body" slots
As long as you remove your allies’ Upper Body and Lower Body armor prior to going into this fight, you can fight him however you want. It’s surprisingly easy to forget to do this, so don’t! The Battle For Rufunga might have left your team exhausted, so take some time to recover L’Arc’s Rogress Points so he can get a summon in near the end. Since your team’s defenses will be lowered due to the lack of armor, you’ll want to use the Defend command more than usual to compensate. I had loads of items in stock and built up my magic for previous challenges, so it was a matter of staying alive while whittling Weiss’ HP down. It takes some time, but he’ll fall eventually. Don’t forget to re-equip your armor after you win.

This is a one-time dungeon, so be sure not to miss anything.

- Facilities B2 – you’ll spot this chest on the other side of some bars, so proceed through the cutscenes, being sure not to touch the off-color panels on the floor – Cure Sickness
- Facilities B1 – ignore first corridor and go down second one to a small room, examine sparkle on the shelf – Yellow Bracelet
- Facilities B1 – chest in the corner of the same room as the Yellow Bracelet – Silver Guard
- Facilities B1 – with the Yellow Bracelet, go back to the first corridor and open the door – Force Support (staff for Ryfia)
Defeat Kanher in Gula Church Ruins without any Rogress equipped and without using any Revive items or Elixirs
No revival, huh? Hope you unlocked Rastan’s Ray of Light to act as a replacement revive. Remove L’Arc’s Rogress as well before going into this. Watch out with this dungeon because there’s no save point before the boss, meaning you must have your setup done well in advance. Kanher is a hard-hitting damage sponge, but it has no heals or defensive buffs to worry about. I stuck to strong individual Excel Acts like L’Arc’s Gae Bolg and Ryfia’s Aqua Spiral, rather than trying to get Trinity Attacks in due to preserving Rastan’s SP for Ray of Light, which costs 65 SP. I needed to use it once on Serge, which was perfectly fine for this achievement. Otherwise, it’s about surviving the hits, healing up, and doing damage when you can. Try an Attack + Defend combo if you have AP to spare, and get everyone’s HP to max as much as possible to survive the deadlier attacks.
The next boss battle is a forced loss, so don’t worry about it. Once the Lightship is fixed, say hello to your JRPG airship. You now have the freedom to backtrack to previous areas to do side content. Absolutely visit every town that you haven’t been able to finish collecting items for, because getting the Lightship is a pivotal point for spawning new treasures from NPCs. You need to do this before triggering future important story events so these items aren’t lost forever. Do that first before continuing with the storyline.
Witness the second optional event at Carbunculus City's Inn
Just like before, you need to stay at the inn to obtain the nightwear outfit for any new party members that join. This time, it will be for Serge.

There are three costumes found on the world map that may be tricky to find, so I made screenshots for you. They are L’Arc’s Mystery Gunner, Rastan’s Mystery Warrior, and Serge’s Mystery Gown. They’re not missable, but like previous world map items, there is absolutely no indication of where they are unless you’re on the precise spot.
All done backtracking and item hunting in new areas? Let’s carry on then. Here’s something crucial I want to point out here: MAKE A BACKUP SAVE. We’re at the non-linear portion of the story, and you want to be ready for it. If you’re looking to clear all of the missable achievements in one run, there will be four Rogress that the party searches for, and you can only get two of them in any given save file. Thus, the achievements Trial by Banchu, Too Hot to Handle, Towering Above All, and Squill of Approval are mutually exclusive, only allowing you to do two at a time. Whoever you fight as the first Rogress will have lower stats than the second one, so you’ll want to pick your battles wisely.
Furthermore, there is a missable enemy that can only be found in the Ruins of Hilbert where Banchu is, so for your main file, you absolutely want to go here to complete your bestiary. See the achievement Checkmate for further details. How you obtain the other three Rogress across your two save files is up to you. For my main file, I went with Banchu (earth) and Papirusagu (wind) since they’re both close by, while my backup file was for obtaining Urgula (fire) and Squill (water). Of these dungeons, the Ruins of Hilbert also has missable treasure, which will be covered below in Ruins of Hilbert Connoisseur.
If you’re struggling to look for the Trismegistos in Zeilfellt Holy Tower where Papirusagu is, I made a screenshot of its location.
From personal experience, Squill was quite difficult to challenge as the second Rogress due to his ability to heal for 1973 HP every turn, and his battle has a turn limit before it automatically ends and he chooses Alf. This means you need to outpace his healing while staying alive as best as you can. I got my party to level 39, equipped L’Arc with the Flamberge (bought in Ferris), leveled it up and unlocked its Weapon Secret Fire Strike +, included Add Sickness as a skill to its Weapon Frame, acquired his Excel Act Ignis Beat, equipped gear that reduced water-elemental damage, and had recruited Urgula as the previous Rogress. That was all to stand a more reasonable chance against Squill, and it was still pretty tough. Perhaps you could use this setup but choose Squill as your first Rogress, sacrificing Urgula as a summon to compensate for the boss’ lower stats.
Another complication is that after obtaining the first Rogress of your choice, the party is forced to go to Opalus for story reasons, then go to Resolvent Iceberg and advance the plot some more before carrying on with the second Rogress hunt. There aren’t any missable bosses, monsters or treasures to worry about during this intermission, so go about it as you please.
Once I had acquired the two Rogress of my choice in my backup save, I took this time to do a lot of side content like guild quests, looking for skits, fighting new monsters and leveling up everyone’s weapons in my main save. You’re able to do this whenever you want (I highly recommend looking for the skits due to an upcoming party change), but you would want to set some time aside to clean up any available content.
Defeat the optional boss King of Kings
This enemy is found in the Ruins of Hilbert and has a specific spawning criteria. Ophelia explains this well enough, so I’ll quote her:
“Enter a fight with the first frog enemy you see on the dungeon. If it's not the King of Kings, escape and leave the dungeon right away and come back. Keep doing this until the enemy is the King of Kings. I read some reports saying that if you kill the frog when it is not the King of Kings, then the boss will never appear, but I don't know if it is true. I put it as missable just to be safe.”
Apparently this is a glitch, but don’t quote me on that. This fight can be quite vicious due to King of Kings spamming dangerous AoE spells, so your top priority is to spread your characters out first. Also bring as many High Liquids and Revive Bottles as you can, since you’re going to have KO’ed allies frequently and Mid Liquids will not be enough to help survive. The opportunities to deal damage will not come often, but when they do, hit it as hard as you can. Don’t forget the Defend command if you have someone not doing anything. I had seen a strategy that involved inflicting Silence with Serge’s Coder Hunter weapon, but I never got it to stick in any attempt I did, so I don’t believe this works.

- Vast Cavern – purify Tom and his mother, then open the chest that was behind Tom – Roc’s Wing
- Sandrock Path – sparkling object next to save point – Map: Ruins of Hilbert (I believe this is the reason why this achievement is missable, since you get a second one later)
The following items are found during the mandatory revisit later in the story.
- Sandrock Path – chest in the first ruins on the left – 4-Leaf Clover
- Sandrock Path – from the torch in the far upper right, go left a little bit and examine the nearby urns – Resist Leaf
- Sandrock Path – immediately to the left of the previous item is a sword – Chaa-Kuu (sword for L’Arc)
- Sandrock Path – in the room with the long table, there is a well-hidden chest in the bottom right corner, obscured by the ruin wall – Nacht Arms (fist for Cecille)
These last two aren’t available until after clearing Lascarde Skywalk.
- Sandrock Path – 19th Nomad Son – Map: Ruins of Hilbert
- Sandrock Path – Kazaf – All Charge
Defeat Allocer and save Ryfia without any Rogress equipped and without any armor equipped in the "Other" slot
After defeating whichever Rogress you chose to hunt down second, Allocer will be encountered as the party is leaving any given dungeon. You’re forced to use a party of L’Arc, Rastan and Serge, so swap them in and make your preparations beforehand. This was a pain for me personally because I had done Papirusagu second in my main file, and there isn’t a save point between defeating him and this fight, plus I was running low on High Liquids. I’m not sure if that’s the case for the other dungeons, but that was my own experience if you want to plan for it. Allocer isn’t as dangerous as the second Rogress you choose, but it can inflict some deadly AoE fire-elemental damage if it wants to. Otherwise, it’s mostly single-target attacks. I used Defend a lot more than usual to let the party build up their SP while safely weathering Allocer’s attacks.
Defeat Paula and Luna in the Senate without any Rogress equipped and without using any Revive items or Elixirs
You’ll need to proceed through the Senate’s prison, and the only save point is the green one in Parliament Hall. You can’t leave once you enter, so be sure you’re ready before entering the Senate building. After seeing Alf’s party and going further downstairs, you can’t go back upstairs either, so you’re locked into this segment.
The basic idea is the same as before – getting rid of one of the girls before they can cause a lot of trouble with their Excel Act, Magical Gemini – but they’re a lot more dangerous this time, plus you have a hefty restriction on you. Whoever you want to dispatch of first, be absolutely relentless! Come into the fight with full SP and use your best Trinity Acts when you can. I went for Luna, and she uses Frantic Defense when she’s low on HP, but don’t let up! Paula could potentially heal Luna for over 20,000 HP, which complicates things when you have to worry about surviving against Magical Gemini.
If Leslie gets KO’ed, don’t bother reviving her with Rastan’s Ray of Light until one of the girls is down. Leslie doesn’t do a good job defending herself, and the precious revival would be put to better use on allies you can control. Don’t forget to use SP restoring items that you may have been collecting throughout your journey. Once one of the enemies is down, this fight becomes a lot easier to manage since Magical Gemini cannot be used anymore.
Witness the second optional event at Antrax Parish's Inn
After getting the Offer of Truce from Shelley in Carbunculus, Leslie will join the party as a full-fledged member rather than a guest. The story objective is to head to Diamant, but go straight to Antrax Parish and sleep at the inn to obtain Leslie’s nightwear outfit. This is also the opportunity to go around revisiting some locations to see more outfit-related skits that couldn’t be watched before. Once all of these are done, the next outfits won’t be found until after the mandatory visit to Ellgode Volcano.
On Arc Rise Fantasia’s Skits Wiki, the entries for Dressing Up and Ryfia’s Painting only have “Moon Inn” written as their locations, but don’t specify which inns. I found Dressing Up in Waning Moon Inn (near Ebur), and Ryfia’s Painting in New Moon Inn (isolated on island to west of Topazion). I have been told that you can use any Moon Inn, even so much as triggering one skit, then waiting a few seconds for the second one to appear.
Flagship Percival Connoisseur (5)
Find all item pickups in the Flagship Percival
This is a one-time dungeon, albeit a short one, so you need to pick everything up before advancing the plot.
- Deck - chest at the far upper left – Firestorm Gem OR River Gem (this chest randomizes the contents)
- Sternside Pass – take second right, then head left at intersection for a chest – All Charge
- Bowside Pass – head left twice to a chest – The Chaser (gun for Leslie)
- Bridge - watch major cutscene, then take elevator back to the Bridge and examine the weapon – Iskandar (sword for L’Arc)
Clearing this area’s storyline is also another pivotal plot point, which means it’ll be time to backtrack to previous towns and loot any treasures that open up here. Do so before continuing on with the guide – the timeframe here is extremely tight. Be careful while exploring in Benetnasch because the story advances when you examine the door inside the Cathedral. After combing through all of the cities, I had the following locations not completed yet, if you want a small checklist:
- Topazion
- Jada
- Diamant Royal City
- Kopin Village
- Antrax Parish
- Ebur
- Waning Crescent Inn
- Opalus
- Old Moon Inn
- Ferris
Now do all of the story events in Zeilfellt Holy Tower, and we’re on another hunt for items marked as “After major Zeilfellt Holy Tower events”. The game devs really didn’t space this out very well, did they? Following this second round of item hunting, the remaining locations I had were:
- Topazion
- Ebur
- Waning Crescent Inn
- Opalus
- Ferris
At this point in the story in Ferris, you’ll receive the Resistance Pin, allowing you to buy more weapons in Ferris, Jada, Diamant, Antrax Parish, Batrachites, and Ebur. Buy everything you can and do some preparations, because the next boss challenge is going to be a tough one.
Hilbert-ually Untouchable (25)
Defeat Clyde in the Ruins of Hilbert without any party member falling in battle
The most critical thing that’s going to win this fight is Dispel Magic. As I mention in this achievement’s comments section, “Dispel Magic is a dark-elemental level 2 spell obtained with a Flame Gem and a Stone Gem equipped on a character. You can get all four elements and their sub-elements if you expand their slots to 4, then equip a Storm Gem in the 'north' slot, a Rain Gem in the 'west', a Flame Gem in the 'east', and a Stone Gem in the 'south'. I'm sure you can mix this up, but that's the result I got. Dispel Magic costs 5 AP to use, so it is a pretty expensive spell.”
Since I was struggling with bosses from optional guild quests, I spent some time leveling up the party’s weapons and unlocking all of the Weapon Secrets. I stuck with my usual party of L’Arc, Rastan and Ryfia, and Ryfia was the one I gave the four magic orbs to for Dispel Magic so the men could focus on damage and healing with items. For their weapons, I gave L’Arc the Zweihander, which has ATK 10 as its Weapon Secret and an HP 500 piece permanently set, and added ATK 2, ATK-, Boost Heal and Boost SP; Rastan got the Gladius with ATK 5 built in, then RES-, Human Bane, Combo Strike and Taunting added, with HP 1000 as its Weapon Secret; and Ryfia got the Armored Cane with HP 100, HP 500, MAG 2 and Frantic Defense set as pieces, and Boost Defense as its Weapon Secret. L’Arc was level 53 and the others level 52 going into this, and it’s still challenging.
Clyde is found in the Vast Cavern screen blocking the path through some ruined buildings, so you’ll need to save at the save point a couple of screens earlier. The first turn should have L’Arc summon an offensive Rogress to at least wipe out the grunts accompanying Clyde. The real trouble is that Clyde has Block Defense, which ignores a character using the Defend command, and was the reason I failed this challenge at least once. This is why I concentrated on HP for L’Arc and Rastan, and additional defense bonuses for Ryfia, though the defenses wound up not being as useful as I thought. Maybe do something different for Ryfia if you intend to use her.
Instead of trying to explain every little detail in a giant wall of text, I made a video guide of my successful attempt. I explain everything in both the achievement’s comments section and the video’s description if you want to look up the details.
Witness the first optional event at Carbunculus Greenhill Estate
While exploring Carbunculus City, you might have come across Director Greenhill’s estate that you weren’t able to enter before since the entrance is blocked by Adherent Watchman. Due to certain story events, you can now. If you don’t know where the estate is, it’s in the Industrial Area. This needs to be done after finishing the events in Ellgode Volcano but before heading to Soliton Caves, which is the very next story objective, so the timing for this is super tight. You are able to enter prior to this, but the maid (Humble Daughter) will ask you to come back later.
Defeat Emeraldas in Soliton Caves in 10 turns or less
I reset Ryfia’s orb setup and upgraded her to level 3 gems (River Gem, Firestorm Gem, Whirlwind Gem, and Rock Gem) so she could start using up to level 3 magic. Firestorm Gem is the most important one since she’ll be chaining Burning Drive casts to rack up major damage. L’Arc’s Ignis Beat will be useless since Emeraldas has a shield that reduces all damage to 1. The boss will put up a magic shield that blocks all magical damage, but it doesn’t last long. I had switched my party around to use L’Arc, Cecille and Leslie in the hopes of using Ignis Beat, Up and Away, and Photon Line respectively for a fire-elemental Trinity Act, but I didn’t have enough AP to execute it, so it was fire spells and a Simmah summon for me.
After clearing this challenge and finishing up in Soliton Caves, three missable achievements open up consecutively at Carbunculus Greenhill Estate - An Important Guest, Greenhill Glamour, and Branching Out. These are the story points you need to revisit the estate, and the timing for all of them is very strict:
An Important Guest: after defeating Emeraldas and clearing Soliton Caves, but before going to Diamant to get the pass
Greenhill Glamour: after getting the pass in Diamant, immediately leave the city and come back to Carbunculus
Branching Out: after major story events in Diamant Castle, but before entering Lascarde Skywalk
If you’ve done everything correctly to this point, you’ll get the 100% outfit achievements for Serge and Niko. From here on, the plot’s going to come at you fast and hard, so stay sharp.
Defeat Ignacy in Lascarde Skywalk without using any Liquid items or Elixirs
I swapped out Ryfia for Serge and fine-tuned his magic at the workshop to include him in the party for both this and the next challenge. As long as you stay calm and pay attention to your item usage, this should be a breeze compared to the previous Clyde challenge. You’re able to use any other items like MP-restoring or revival items, and all of your healing will come from spells. You’ll also have a guest character contributing to the fight, so keep them alive as well since their help is worthwhile. Ignacy will hit pretty hard, but with the Rastan tank strategy, most of the heat will be taken off of the other two party members. Ignacy frequently did single-target attacks, so they’re pretty easy to recover from.
Defeat Hosea in Lascarde Skywalk after stealing both items from him
Here’s why I wanted Serge in the party. I gave him the Rogue Dagger and unlocked its Weapon Secret, Boost Steal, along with adding Boost Steal, Boost Item, Steal, ATK 2, MAG 2 and SPD 2. I absolutely didn’t want to go through the same frustration I had with Vifrons, so improving Serge’s stealing chances helped a lot. It still took a few turns, but it’s a vast improvement. Hosea has a Rock Shard and a Flood Shard for the taking, so once you have them, unleash on him to your heart’s content.
Phew… that was a lot to take in, wasn’t it? Now that Lascarde Skywalk is cleared, you can do the final round of item hunts for any areas you haven’t been able to clean up until now. This is the final world map change, so no need to worry about any more missable items. Clean up any outfits, monsters, guild quests and other side content that you want, now that a lot of new things have opened up. Of note are the last remaining Mystery outfits found on the world map – Mystery Garb for Cecille, Mystery Witch (#1) for Ryfia, and Mystery Witch (#2) for Leslie.
Witness the optional event at Diamant Royal City Inn
Just head straight to Diamant and stay at the inn after finishing Lascarde Skywalk. Do the next achievement immediately after this.
Receive a Bennex from Freya at Castle Diamant
Head to Castle Diamant and speak to General Freya. She’s in the hallway leading to the office, in the right-hand room opposite the room with the man who gives L’Arc a spoilerific outfit. She’ll give you a Bennex, a gun for Leslie.
Defeat Dynos in Verct Skywalk without any Rogress equipped and without using any consumable item
I had done this after doing as much of the side content as I could, including optional bosses, guild quests, arena battles up to Creaking Contraptions, maxing out new weapons, and recruiting the three additional Rogress. While Rogress can’t be used here, if you managed to defeat the nightmare of a superboss that is Allul, then you should have a good idea of what to do – get everyone’s SP to 100% before going into this fight, and use their strongest offensive Excel Acts to trigger an exceptionally powerful Trinity Act. Job… mostly done. It’s just a matter of cleaning up with magic or regular attacks from there. Come into this with level 3 magic and at least 5 charges of each spell level plus a boost or two to the four elements so you have plenty to work with. Dynos is able to reflect magical damage, so keep that in mind if you’re using spells.
If you didn’t do the side content and you’re not as high-leveled, then it’s the same premise as Gauss For Concern but with an additional restriction thrown in here. Be careful with your magic usage and consider using Excel Acts to cover for things like revival or healing. Since the achievement is called Focused Destruction, I believe the intent is to do the side content to make your characters stronger so you can rush Dynos down, especially with the uber-damaging Trinity Act. If you’re struggling with this at default levels, come back to it later.
Defeat Clyde in Verct Skywalk without any armor equipped
Dammit, Clyde, why must you have some of the hardest challenges in this set? At least this isn’t as punishing as Hilbert-ually Untouchable since you can use Rogress and allow characters to be KO’ed. Just remove all three armor types from everyone’s slots and you’re good to go. Take heed that this battle occurs very shortly after Dynos’, so go back to the save point and make your preparations before challenging Clyde, especially since this will be a toughie to overcome. After finishing this battle, I’m now fully convinced this and Focused Destruction were designed for you to have done the side content first, because Clyde hits hard when you don’t have armor equipped. If you know what to do, then it’s the usual routine of opening up with a major Trinity Act when you can, then using items or magic. Defending is pointless since Clyde has Block Defense, so you’re either attacking or healing. There’s a save point after defeating Clyde, so you don’t have to backtrack to the previous one.
Defeat Alf in Verct Skywalk in 15 turns or less
Time to put this extremist pissant in his place. If you completed the previous two achievements, then you have all the tools you need to rush Alf down. Re-equip your armor, and come into the fight with 100% SP, HP and MP for everyone. However, we want to do this a little differently. Instead of executing your big attacks right from the get-go, whittle him down bit by bit until his HP reaches the threshold where the big attacks should KO him in one fell swoop. If Alf’s HP gets too low but he isn’t defeated, he will execute some nasty AoE attacks that can inflict multiple ailments like Confuse and Paralyze, and he’ll get them off before your allies can even begin healing.
Get some strong spells off, then use Defend for everyone as the last command. Alf doesn’t have Block Defense, so your allies won’t take the full damage from his attacks if you turtle like this. Since fire and/or wind Raystones spawn in this fight, consider using those elements as your offensive options. He has 165,691 HP if you want to keep track of the damage you’re doing before going in for the kill. Having prior knowledge of how much damage your Trinity Act does would be beneficial, so it’s actually not a bad idea to either fail or restart your first attempt just to see what the value is. However you approach this, just be sure not to dally for too long since you have a limited number of turns to beat Alf.
Witness the fifth optional event at Carbunculus Greenhill Estate
Ugh, one last visit to the Greenhill Estate after clearing Verct Skywalk but before going to Holy Land of Noire. This will be for L’Arc and Ryfia’s clown costumes.
Rastan’s final outfit is called Wood Robes, which I’ve made a handy screenshot for once again since it’s found on the world map after clearing Verct Skywalk. This one’s not missable in case you forget to get it before going to the final dungeon. From Antrax Parish, go south until you can loop around to the northwest, then go up the thin strip of land curling around the plateau. The outfit is found around this area.
If everything is done correctly, only L’Arc and Ryfia’s outfit achievements will still be remaining, so you should have 115 of 117 outfits discovered. The last two are found in the postgame dungeon Allwise Infinite Maze. Ryfia’s outfit is Azure Dress and is on Floor 10, while L’Arc’s outfit is Azure Robes and is on Floor 25.
Steal both items from (spoiler character) in the first battle at the Holy Land of Noire
I’ve omitted the boss’ name from the description here for those reading ahead, but you can always see what it is if you click the link. We’re in the very endgame, and it’d be a shame to have a major name be spoiled for you, wouldn’t it? Then again, the achievement icon makes it blaringly obvious who it is, so... I dunno. Don’t worry, you’ll know what I’m talking about if I explain the very simple concept behind this battle – it’s a forced loss. Thus, you have a very limited amount of time to pilfer both items. Any weapons that have Steal and/or Boost Steal, combined with a high LUK stat should do the job. The boss has a Shield of Ajax and a Shield of Aegis, and stealing both of them will get you the achievement during the fight.
Battle for the Fate of the World (25)
Defeat the Final Boss' Final Form in the Holy Land of Noire without using any consumable item. Rematch on a cleared save invalidates the challenge
No Elixirs, stat-boosting items or MP- or SP-healing items? No problem. We’ve got Rogress, magic, and the strongest Trinity Act we can muster. The good news about this fight is that if you recruit the three optional Rogress, Final Boss will not be able to summon them against you, so that’s one less nuisance to worry about. This fight is divided into two phases, and this achievement refers to the second one. Whittle their HP down with weaker attacks and magic for the first phase, but you also want to plan your item usage so that you're topped up going into the second phase before defeating the first phase.
You'll also be getting a guest character to help you out in the second phase. However, their Excel Act may actually interfere with your own setup for executing the powerful Trinity Act, so expect to see a less impactful one than usual. If you don't want to go that route, you can always use Excel Acts that heal and/or grant buffs like DEF and RES protection or Bless. L'Arc's Eesa Factor actually came in clutch for me when he was inflicted with Sickness and was at low HP, so don't discount its usefulness to auto-resurrect him in a pinch like that. Summon your best Rogress (ideally Allul) and survive with magic and Excels as best as you can, getting in some strong offensive spells whenever possible.
CONCLUSION
Wow. Just… wow. I can understand why this game is considered a diamond in the rough, but you really need to work hard to find that diamond within all of the dirt. I saw numerous problems as I played throughout. The story is fantastic, albeit slow to pick up at first. If you can make it to Olquina Shrine, then it’ll be worth the while to stick around and see how it pans out.
The real issues were how some parts of the story were executed, such as rushed revelations and vague terminology being thrown around everywhere. The missable content is the real thorn in this game’s side. Frankly speaking, it is awful. I knew I wanted to compile everything into one guide, but I had no clue just how much of it there was to cover. Also, the outfits? You go through so much effort to find them, and they only change your character’s attire in the menu or are seen in skits, some of which are ridiculously obscure. Lamest thing I’ve ever seen. The combat system was also a little difficult to understand at first, but lots of practice and leveling up weapons will make things easier to understand.
Also, Niko annoyed the hell out of me. Enough said.
If you’re strongly into JRPGs and want to give every title out there a try, give this one a go if you want. If you just dabble in the genre and are expecting a simple mastery, then you’re dead wrong. You’d be better off just doing the progression achievements and moving on, especially if it’s because of Wii Rollout or a similar event related to the Wii. I sincerely hope I’ve done my job of compiling all of these random bits of information into one document for you to follow. Some of the information might need updating as new discoveries as made due to poor documentation, so feel free to send me a DM on RA if you think something needs to be fixed.
Otherwise, I’ll see you in the next guide. Have fun, and happy cheevo hunting!
