Introduction
If you're here, you likely already know a lot about Terraria. Since its release in 2011 it's been a staple of PC gaming and although it originally got a lot of comparisons to Minecraft as another survival crafting game, it's since evolved into something entirely unique.
Because of Terraria's rather open structure you can get many of these achievements out of order and several achievements are based on random chance, such as events and invasions. Many things might happen earlier or later than they appear on this guide.
You will get most of the achievements in the main set from just playing the game. If you've played Terraria before you can easily go through the entire game and you'll likely end up with 75% or more of those achievements already done.
Difficulty
Player Difficulty
When you create a character you can choose for them to be Journey, Classic, Mediumcore, or Hardcore, which are related to the Player Difficulty subset.
- Journey: Sets your achievements on RA to Softcore mode and you're locked to Journey mode worlds, but you can use the Journey mode-exclusive tools
- Classic: Drop money on death
- Mediumcore: Drop items on death
- Hardcore: Permadeath
- Hardestcore: A set of restrictions detailed in the forum post that boil down to playing on Hardcore without compromising its integrity.
World Difficulty
When you create a world you can set its difficulty mode as well as enter a few special seeds, both of which are related to the World Modes and Seeds subset. This guide will give extra information on each boss for Expert mode.
- Journey: See Player Difficulty
- Classic: Normal game
- Expert: Many modifications to enemy AI, higher enemy stats, new attacks, Treasure Bags, extra accessory slot after Wall of Flesh
- Master: Same as Expert, but enemy stats are even higher, there are two extra (mostly cosmetic) boss drops for each, and another extra accessory slot from the start
A tip about world difficulties: The Defense stat is more effective on harder difficulties, so it's imperative you reforge accessories and use the best armor available for each boss.
Bosses
Pre-Hardmode
Eye of Cthulu: Eye on You (5)
Spawning: The Eye of Cthulu can be spawned either from a Suspicious Looking Eye, or at a 1/3 chance per night if you've built up 200 health, 10 defence, and recruited at least three NPCs. If it spawns naturally, you will get the notification "You feel an evil presence watching you..." just as the night it will spawn starts.
| Difficulty | Strategy |
|---|---|
| Classic | Dodge servants, then charge attack in second phase at 50% health. No real setup required beyond perhaps crafting a bow and arrows. |
| Expert | More servants spawn, and its charge attack chains dashes at lower and lower health until they become continuous. Consider building a simple arena with an elevated platform to dodge vertically with. |
