1) Synopsis

Set Difficulty: 1-2/10

Time to Master: It's an RPG, so it definitely is longer than other titles, but it's one of shortest RPG's I played and most of my time was figuring what to do, so with this guide, it might be much less.

2) Introduction

This is not a hard RPG title to understand, but considering the maps are kinda impossible to find, there is no minimap or item inventory (afaik) and the enemies kill you super easily.
Also this guide is made for PC-8801 version, but it should apply to PCE as well.
This guide will not have levels and equipment needed to progress, since I don't remember those. Just try progressing if you die, load your save, grind for new level/item and try again.
There is no good grind spot, just go where you don't die, find long hallway and run backwards, forward.
Also it's fully in Japanese, which can be a problem. \

I recommend using Google Lens for story purposes and such, but it's not needed, you can learn what every button is pretty easily.

Only controls you need are:

for moving

ESC for exiting out of menu you clicked on accident
Enter/Num Enter for accepting options you point at
Space for skipping thru the story at start of the game \

When you open the RAQUASI88, you have to load (Disk A) [Alt 4] in Drive 1 and (Disk B) in Drive 2:

And when you decide to go on adventure or change floors by stairs you will get message looking like this:
Just use the number and letter as keywords: put Disk C in Drive 2 on picture for example.
After it loads, press enter.

Maps are stolen from: http://retrogeme.web.fc2.com/kouryaku/dragonnaito.html and then changed in graphic program to english and all but first were not marked, which I did myself.

Running away rarely worked for me, but can be done. I'd rather savescum before progressing.

Temple: Regenerates HP and MP (1G per point) and tells you how much experience you need for the next level.

7) Walkthrough

The beggining is just for helping purpose, it's not right way to play the game. It's just what I did and how I started the game, which helped me to get into it.

Steps before first quest:

When you get into the game you have 100Gold to your name.
Take Gold Knife and Leather Armor from shop and save your game using UTL so you don't have to watch the long intro again.
Go into dungeon and search for around 4 Kobold enemies or Goblins to get to lvl 2, most enemies are way too strong for you there, so try to run from anyone else and if not, die and reload your save.
When you get to lvl 2, you are much stronger and can take almost anyone on this floor on, grind until lvl 3 until you try first quest (it's probably possible on lvl 2, but might not). Also don't forget to buy equipment, I'm not gonna say when in the walkthrought.

Newcomer of the City
Also you unlock your first achievement, yaaaay.
(Rest of level achievements will not be in this guide, just grind to lvl 25)

First Floor

When you get to level 3 or when you think you're ready, go to spot 2 on map (16-00), Golem will just talk with you and that will be end of the conversation.
To be sure about your mission go in front of door holding Anne at 3 on map (16-06) and hear her voice. (might not be required)
Go back to town by getting back to location 1 (00-00). Talk with Prophet and she will give you sleep potion which you can give to the Golem.
So back to the dungeon with potion in hand talk with Golem and get a key.

Keyring: Kanoya

Then with the key open door holding Anne at spot 3 and defeat her captors.

Rescue Anne

Anna will tell you secret password to enter Torture Chamber holding second girl on the first floor.
Now either save or go be a hero. Go to point 6 on map (13-17) defeat 6 ogres and save Niichi.

Rescue Niichi

Niichi is gonna tell you about secret access to second floor hidden by fake wall.
I recommend grinding a little bit and before accessing second floor definitely save the game.
Don't try to attack the dragon or elevator. You don't know secret password to enter so you'll just get hit by strong trap. Elevator doesn't work until much later on.
When you're ready go to second floor to continue your quest.

Second Floor

After Entering Second Floor, turn around, do one step forward and you will bump into Ogre taking Mel to Dragon Knight (IT'S THE TITLE OF THE GAME WOOO). \ Kill 6 Ogre Lords and Rescue Mel for another sweet achievement.

Rescue Mel

Mel will tell you password to access Dragon Knight's room on first floor, you know what that means. Grind a little bit and then go kill the first dragon on spot 4 on Map of First Floor.
Don't use attack spell on him, it doesn't do anything really just takes lot of your mana. Attack and heal (apply for all dragons).

Knight of Red

Don't forget to save often!
Go back into second floor and go to the map points 2 (16-11), 3 (16-16) and 4 (13-16) to read a note on floor, get an Earpiece and Gold leaf which will be useful later on.
After some more grinding go to spot 5 (05-05) on the map, kill 6 Lizardman and save another maiden.

Rescue Shion

Now go to spot 9 (07-16) on map and with your Earpiece listen to 2 guards talking about password to enter Blue Dragon's den.
When you're ready go fight the Blue Dragon on spot 6 (16-01) on the map.

Knight of Blue

Which ends Second floor of the game.
When you think you're ready just go to next floor on spot 10 (00-00)
