Odroid N2 Starter Guide - Retro-Arena/RetroArena-Setup GitHub Wiki
This guide assumes you know how to download and burn a copy of the image on your SD card, to be used on an Odroid-N2.
-
Once you have burned the image on the card, insert it into the device.
-
Ensure the white Boot Select Switch in front of the device is set to the right. It's either left or right. Ensure it is on the right side.
-
Connect an HDMI 2.0 or newer cable to your display, Ethernet cable (highly recommended for fast transfers) to your router/switch, then the power adapter. If you prefer to use WiFi, we recommend using the official Odroid WiFi Module 5A 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Dual Band.
-
The image has an auto expand script which will initiate a reboot. During the first boot, you may see the splashscreen video play then abruptly cut, that is due to this reboot.
-
The device should now boot with a short video then load EmulationStation.
-
The image is set by default to 720p60hz display resolution for best gaming performance. However, Kodi will not work unless it is set to 1080p60hz. As a workaround, within EmulationStation, go to
Options
>Odroid Config
> then selectSet display resolution to 1080p and reboot (Kodi fix)
. You can use the same menu to revert back to 720p60hz for best gaming performance. -
If you are using the brown brick colored 8Bitdo Wireless Bluetooth USB Adapter or gray brick colored USB Wireless Adapter for PS classic edition, you must follow these steps to get EmulationStation to access your 8Bitdo gamepad:
- Ensure the adapter is using the latest firmware via 8Bitdo Firmware Updater Tool
- Pair your gamepad and adapter normally by pressing the button on the adapter
- Change the mode of the adapter (not the gamepad) to D-Input mode. To do this, after pairing the controller the first time, hold the SELECT + RIGHT DPAD for 3 seconds. It will pair once again then let you map in EmulationStation as "Sony Computer Entertainment Wireless Controller"
- One adapter is required for one 8Bitdo gamepad
