How to get newer versions of redream working with RESET Collection - ResetCollection/support GitHub Wiki

If you have the latest versions of redream and you're device is running Android 10 or higher, then you may have noticed that launching games from RESET Collection (and other frontends) to redream no longer works. ¡Ay, caramba!

But there's hope for you! Just follow the steps below. It's a bit complicated, but I'll do my best to make an easy to follow guide!

  • Make a note of the ROM folder path shown in the dialog. For example, in the dialog displayed above, the ROM path I want to make a note of is: (/storage/3263-3233/roms/sega dreamcast).

  • Next, open your file manager app and navigate to internal storage > Android > data > io.recompiled.redream > files

  • Open the redream.cfg file

  • Set the gamedir value to your ROM folder path. See below image for reference of what it should look like (remember, my path was /storage/3263-3233/roms/sega dreamcast, yours will be different, but similar!

  • Save this file.

  • Next go to the redream "App info". This can be done by long pressing on the redream icon from your launcher and selecting "App info". You'll see a screen similar to below:

  • Click on "Permissions"

  • Next click on "Storage" (could also be called "Files and media" or something similar) and make sure "Allow management of all files" is selected.

  • You should now be able to launch Dreamcast games from RESET Collection using redream!

that's rad!
