Overview

The Ibis Corporation (operating under the trading name "Ibis"), Is the largest company in the Idle Inc. universe due to their monopoly of the Universal Exchange (UE) and enormous property portfolio. Ibis acts as the antagonists in the game's story line, masquerading as a friendly and helpful adviser all the while pushing the user to overclock their production which secretly produces Bitcoins for Ibis. Though entirely evil they have an unbreakable compulsion to follow rules (even if they created them themselves).

Backstory

The Idle Inc. universe lies in a parallel dimension to our own. The Ibis Corporation stretches the entire Idle Inc. universe and has successfully formed a monopoly on all aspects of the economy. Their total power means they can enforce any laws they see fit, including a work force comprised of 100% slave labour with death awaiting anyone who attempt to defy their lot in life.

When Ibis discovered a way to communicate with our dimension through our technology, they immediately began planning to conqueror our universe as well. They enticed humans to manage deeds in the Idle Inc. universe with the goal to access their device's CPU in order to mine Bitcoins. Once they have enough Bitcoins they can being purchasing Earth assets in a bid to remotely control the entire planet. Their compulsion to follow rules ensures they must gain the user's permission to use their CPU and thus must make it as enticing as possible to do so. So they perpetuated a lie that they had invented an overclocking machine that increased the rate of production, in truth, they simply ensure that the labour force is producing at a rate that matches the amount of overclocking the user has applied.

Story Line

Upon starting a game of Idle Inc. A representative from Ibis introduces themselves to the player, awarding them with a deed to their very own property courtesy of The Ibis Corporation. The representative then continues to help the player learn how to manage their deed by teaching them everything they need to know about running their very own corporation.

At the end of the instruction period the representative will award the player with the overclocking machine that will allow the player to increase their production rates at the cost of using their device's CPU. The representative will constantly praise the player for using the feature while encouraging them to use it if they decide not to.

At various times the player will receive cryptic messages from workers brave enough to try and tell the player the truth behind the con (most of these workers meet a gruesome end). The player may also overhead conversations or see shady deeds being performed from time to time.

As the player progresses to developing technologies they will be introduced to Ibis's "finest researchers" who will teach the player how to research technologies and provide information about the advantages of doing so. The researcher will also begin hinting to the dark side of Ibis in subtle ways as to avoid being prosecuted.

Ibis's plot will eventually be puzzled together by the player and the researcher will provide the plans that will thwart Ibis, a Bitcoin Factory that has the capacity to steal Bitcoins from Ibis, preventing them from accruing enough wealth on Earth to become a threat.
