Overview
Resources are produced by facilities. Each facility produces one or more types of resource. Resources are produced in batches, these are called the output batch. Most facilities also require an input batch of resources to start production on each output batch, for example, a Copper Wire Factory takes Copper as the input batch and produces Copper Wire as the output batch (this was a simple example, facilities may have input and output batches that comprise of several different resources).
The player can have an infinite stockpile of any resource. Active facilities take their respective resources from this stockpile to meet their input batch requirements and then add their output batch of resources to the stockpile when they have finished production of said batch.
There are many different types of resource, each within a broader category.
Trading
A player can buy and sell resources on the Universal Exchange. This allows players to acquire resources that their facilities may need as part of their input batch without having to have the corresponding facility that produces that resource.
