Berger Pairings - RefsTech/rug GitHub Wiki
Berger pairing is mapping between fixed numbers (lets call them draw number) and a team identifier. These pairing are fixed for every two contiguous number of participants in a tournament starting from 3.
Before the start of every championship there is a lot, which decides which team will take which draw numbers. So for example if during the lot team A draws number 1 and team B draws number 3 and there are 5 or 6 teams in this championship team A will play against team B in round 3, match number 2 (the one with 🍎).
