Ultimatum - RedwoodAdmin/RedwoodFramework GitHub Wiki
Ultimatum is an interactive game between two groups of players, proposers and responders. The game is responsible for designating these roles based on the results of a simple estimation challenge before the game begins. This is a good example of building additional functionality into the "Start" page of an experiment. The structure of the game requires that the number of players be a multiple of two and also a multiple of the configurable parameter, k (the number of proposals that occur at a time), which can often result in some subjects not being able to part-take. This experiment also demonstrates Redwood's ability to "drop" players by sending them straight to the finish page.
Once the roles have been decided and the game has started, each proposer is given a base payment of P dollars. They can then offer whatever proportion of an additional X dollars they choose to the corresponding proposer. If the responder accepts the offer, the responder receives the offered amount and the proposer keeps the rest. If the responder rejects the offer, neither of the players get to keep any of the additional payment.
