Search and Defuse is a mod created exclusively for Redemption DayZ and takes an aspect well known in the FPS community and brings it to DayZ.
How It Works
Every x minutes there will be a notifcation on screen that shows you that in 10 minutes the bombs will be at a random location across the map.
Once the bomb is active there will be 3 Bomb Defusers that spawn in random loot locations in the immediate area. These could spawn inside any of the loot spots so you will need to keep your eye open for them.
Active Bombs
With the bomb active, your objective is to defuse the bomb whilst watching out for other players wanting to come and stop you and take the loot for themselves.
Bombs have both an audio and visual indicator on them and it's important to pay attention to them.
On the bomb you will see a countdown timer, this is how long is left until the bomb is defused.
You will also have a constant beeping sound letting you know your are still defusing.
The bomb will countdown from 30 minutes to 0 the bomb will explode destroying any loot.
Defusing
This is the defuser and what you need to look out for:
The defuser can be planted in a 15m radius around the bomb.
You will need to place the defuser by placing it in your hand then pressing 'left mouse button'.
Then look at the defuser on the floor and hold 'left mouse button' to start defusing.
This is the same as you would a base building kit.
Once you have succesfully planted the defuser it will look like this:
Defusing a bomb takes 10 minutes.
You will hear an audio cue letting you know you are still defusing the bomb, however this cue can not be heard past the 15m defuse range so you will to then keep an eye on the bomb timer to know if it has jammed or not.
Once you have successfully defused the bomb you will recieve a notifcation saying it has been successful and you can walk upto the bomb and check the inventory to collect your loot!
Defuser Jam
When and if the Defuser jams you will then have 60 seconds to unjam it.
You will hear an audio cue and the timer will change and the colour will become red.
Jam countdown:
Once you have finished unjamming the countdown will resume where it was previously.
To unjam the Defuser you will need to go back to the briefcase and you will be prompted to press and hold left mouse button to unjam the Defuser.
Unjamming takes 10 seconds.
Unjam prompt:
If you are unable to unjam the defuser and the timer runs out everyone with in a 50m radius will die to the explosion.
Loot
You'll have to go and find out for yourself. However you can expect that with the higher risk comes a higher reward. Each one is definitely worth a visit.
