Material Types - RedDeadlyCreeper/ArmoredCombatExtended GitHub Wiki
ACF always had RHA as its armor material for each part of a tank, meaning limited mechanics with some round types like HEAT, or making some fake composite armor just adjusting its health. ACE instead, brings you another 5 different types of materials that will bring you some benefits with them. This page will talk about materials that ace uses.
Outdatet, use menu information instead.
To change the material, go to the "Armor Properties" tool and choose the desired material in a box called "Material"
But before proceeding... the glossary
Type | Description |
---|---|
Year | The year |
Curve | Defines how effective is increasing the armor thickness. Any value below 1 means loss |
Mass Multipler | A multipler for Mass. RHA scaled |
KE Protection | How many times is good vs Kinetic Penetrators. RHA scaled |
CHEMICAL Protection | How many times is good vs Shaped charges. RHA scaled |
Rolled Homogeneous Armor (RHA)
This is the default armor of ACF2 in ACE, simply rolled steel made as basic armor for most of vehicles.
Year | Curve | Mass Multipler | KE Protection | CHEMICAL Protection |
---|---|---|---|---|
1900 | 1 | 1x RHA | 1x RHA | 1x RHA |
Cast Homogeneous Armor (CHA)
This material is a bit heavier but higher ductility version than RHA, it resists more damage than RHA, but tends to spall more and its armor is 2% less efficient than rha.
Year | Curve | Mass Multipler | KE Protection | CHEMICAL Protection |
---|---|---|---|---|
1930 | 1 | 1.25x RHA | 0.98x RHA | 0.98x RHA |
Ceramic
As the name says, this light and fragile material will make any prop brittle against any projectiles, yet it's ideal for dealing with kinetic rounds like apds variants, but tends to break easily.
Year | Curve | Mass Multipler | KE Protection | CHEMICAL Protection |
---|---|---|---|---|
1955 | 0.95 | 0.8x RHA | 2.4x RHA | 2.4x RHA |
Rubber
A very effective material against shaped charge rounds, but useless against kinetic rounds
Year | Curve | Mass Multipler | KE Protection | CHEMICAL Protection |
---|---|---|---|---|
1955 | 0.95 | 0.2x RHA | 0.02 RHA | 3x RHA |
Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA)
This type of material will make props explode when hit, destroying/reducing lethal shots, being highly effective vs shaped rounds like HEAT and effective vs kinetic rounds, however, ERA is explosive and will damage nearby props if detonated, it can also be easily destroyed by low caliber shots.
Year | Curve | Mass Multipler | KE Protection | CHEMICAL Protection |
---|---|---|---|---|
1955 | 0.95 | 2x RHA | 2.5x RHA | 8x RHA |
Aluminium
A low-cost and lighter version of RHA, meant as an replacement for low ton vehicles like afv, ifv, etc. its extremely vulnerable vs both kinetic and shaped rounds so use it for saving weight only.
Year | Curve | Mass Multipler | KE Protection | CHEMICAL Protection |
---|---|---|---|---|
1955 | 0.93 | 0.221x RHA | 0.34x RHA | 0.34x RHA |
Textolite
As known as fiberglass, this chemical material is good vs shaped rounds and its very durable to constant shots, even if its penetrated. But dont expect effectiveness vs kinetic rounds.
Year | Curve | Mass Multipler | KE Protection | CHEMICAL Protection |
---|---|---|---|---|
1955 | 0.94 | 0.35x RHA | 0.5x RHA | 1.2x RHA |
