Images - RedCoolBeans/CargOS GitHub Wiki

CargOS offers three images, two of which are used to install:

  • regular
  • cloud
  • noinst

The regular image.

The regular image can be used in any kinds of environments for both bootstrapping and running CargOS on an already configured system where the persistent storage is available. The regular image contains all the necessary files to bootstrap CargOS on a clean system. If you are running CargOS the first time, this image must be used.

The cloud image.

The cloud image is basically the same as the regular image, except that it can be used in a cloud environment like OpenStack to automatically fetch cloud-config to automatically provision your VM.

The noinst image.

The noinst image does not contain the files necessary to bootstrap CargOS on a clean system. This image can only be used after CargOS has been bootstrapped. This makes it a very small image that is ideal to load via PXE or a USB key. It will boot straight into CargOS and use the storage that was setup earlier.

If you are unsure, please always use the regular image.
