Summary: This page contains our solution to demonstrate the prototype of our design. In addition, the research conclusion is also provided in the second part of those paragraphs which includes our direction of the research and design work.

Prototype Form & Technology Stack

We plan to use Figma and Unity to make the prototype of our design.

We will use Figma to provide the interface of the mobile app. The first reason is that our mobile app interface involves a few complicated interactions. So prototype tools are qualified enough for this work. Besides, Figma is highly customisable and has gorgeous animation. This feature helps us to provide the most vivid and friendly user experience.

As to Unity, it is good at providing an immersive experience since itโ€™s a game engine. Therefore, We will use Unity to create a game scene. In this scene, the users can experience the whole process of rescuing the elderly. This will provide a clear idea of what the users need to do if they are volunteers.

To conclude, we plan to provide a comprehensive, both digital and real-world, experience in our prototype with this tech stack.

Research conclude

Based on these surveys, we can basically determine that our research and design directions can be designed based on the current situation of the elderly in society to better meet the functions and interactions of the target population. At the same time, most people worry that the elderly themselves will suffer some harm at home because of their age or illness. This can provide the main design idea for our research and design, that is, for those who are worried about this situation, we can give them the opportunity to help the elderly, and for those who do not understand this situation, we can also let them know through technology.

The importance of emergency situations for the elderly. We will expand our functions based on this idea. In addition, most of the interviewees believed that it would be beneficial to provide some help to the elderly before the arrival of the formal assistance agencies. Therefore, this confirms that the field and research we are studying are necessary and feasible. According to the results of the questionnaire survey, nearly two-thirds of the interviewees believed that emergency volunteers should have some medical knowledge. But at the same time, this also provides some strict requirements for volunteers, or we need to add a function to the application to provide volunteers with medical assistance knowledge. When asked what is the most important thing to take care of the elderly, many participants mentioned that they must be patient, maintain communication with the elderly, and be happy. Other small responses include spending more time with the elderly to maintain their health. These factors can be used for reference in rescue design, and try to be reflected in technology. For example, newly registered users will have introductions and tips on rescue. At the same time, rescue activities need to protect the privacy of the elderly, so it is necessary to consider a more specific and reasonable way to enter the home of the rescued. Finally, we can add a reward mechanism to the system and evenly distribute rewards according to the number of rescues. The specific incentive measures will be studied in the future.
