Interview to students from Munich:

Interviewer: Thank you all for taking the time to speak with me today. First, I'd like to know what specific safety concerns you have at your universities.

Sophia (LMU): At LMU, I'm particularly concerned about personal safety on campus, especially in the evenings. Some areas are quite dark, and I've heard about incidents of pickpocketing. This makes me feel uneasy when I have evening lectures or leave the library late.

Max (TUM): For me at TUM, data security is a major concern. We work a lot with technology and I'm worried about whether our digital information is adequately protected. Educational institutions are often targets for cyberattacks.

Laura (IU): At IU, I'm primarily concerned about fire safety. I've noticed that some emergency exits aren't easily accessible. I wonder if we could evacuate quickly enough in the event of a fire. This is particularly concerning in crowded lecture halls.

Interviewer: I understand. What do you think could be improved to address these concerns?

Sophia (LMU): I think better lighting and more security personnel on campus could help. It would also be helpful to have regular safety updates to keep students informed.

Max (TUM): For data security, regular IT security audits and student training sessions would be beneficial. Additionally, we should be more informed about how to protect our data.

Laura (IU): Regarding fire safety, regular checks of emergency exits and evacuation drills would be beneficial. More information on what to do in an emergency would also be helpful.

Interviewer: Beyond these issues, are there any other safety aspects that concern you at your universities?

Sophia (LMU): Yes, I also think about psychosocial safety. It would be great to have more support and resources for students dealing with stress or other mental health issues.

Max (TUM): Lab safety is another area we could improve. We often work with potentially dangerous materials, and I believe more education and safety standards could help prevent accidents.

Laura (IU): I think more bike parking spaces on campus could improve safety, as crowded areas often lead to thefts or damage.

Interviewer: Those are very valuable suggestions. Do you feel heard when you raise these concerns at your universities?

Sophia (LMU): Sometimes, but not always. I think the university could try to communicate more with students.

Max (TUM): I believe TUM makes efforts regarding safety, but sometimes it feels like digitalization efforts don't progress fast enough.

Laura (IU): I think IU is trying to take student concerns seriously, but implementing concrete measures sometimes takes longer than I'd hope.

Interviewer: Thank you for your thoughts and dedication. I hope your concerns are taken seriously and lead to change. Best of luck with your studies!
