Broaden and strengthen the participation of developing countries in the institutions of global governance

Action Tasks

Individual Actions:

  • Follow and share content from civil society groups, activists, and representatives from developing countries working on these issues on social media. Amplifying their voices matters.
  • Write letters/emails to your elected representatives urging them to prioritize this goal in foreign policy agendas.
  • Attend public forums, panels or events featuring speakers from developing nations to learn about their perspectives firsthand.
  • Support fundraising campaigns, donate or volunteer for organizations providing training/capacity building for negotiators from developing countries.

Systemic Change:

  • Sign and promote petitions calling for reforms in voting structures, leadership selection processes of global bodies like UN, WTO to be more inclusive.
  • Participate in protests, rallies organized around major global summits/meetings to demand greater developing country representation.
  • Join advocacy campaigns urging multinational corporations and big polluters to give developing nations a greater voice in climate negotiations.
  • Support political candidates who have robust policies for strengthening developing country participation through foreign aid, technology transfers etc.
