Additional Resources

Introduction

As part of the Financial Service, the ReLIFE platform offers additional resources to facilitate users’ understanding on both the current situation of the renovation market across Europe and on existing financial instruments and mechanisms, and how to access them. A market study was conducted, providing relevant insights into market opportunities and helping identify and assess a wide range of potential functionalities for the ReLIFE platform design. Moreover, through this market study it was possible to structure the platform according to the main target users for the Financial Service:

Main Target Users

A Guide to financial instruments and schemes for energy renovation works has also been produced as a user-friendly catalogue of existing financial instruments and schemes for deep renovation. This guide aims to provide a general overview on the most common schemes across the EU, based on information gathered from a mapping exercise of 10 different EU countries (Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta and Spain). Each financial scheme is presented as a factsheet with the following structure:

  • Short description
  • Target group
  • Renovation measures covered
  • Advantages
  • Limitations
  • Tips

EU mapping of Financial Schemes

The ReLIFE database of public and private financial instruments available across 10 EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta, and Spain), serves as a comprehensive reference point for financial instruments, but it's important to understand its nature and limitations before use. Frequently Asked Questions

Why does information on financial schemes become outdated quickly? Financial instruments, especially public schemes, are subject to:

  • Annual budget cycles
  • Policy changes by new governments
  • Fund exhaustion (first-come, first-served schemes)
  • Regulatory updates at EU and national levels This makes them inherently volatile. Nevertheless, even if specific instruments become outdated, the map remains a valuable tool for identifying the typical actors offering these types of schemes, who are likely to implement similar initiatives in the future.

How often should I verify the information? We recommend verifying information:

  • Before starting any application process
  • At least monthly for time-sensitive schemes
  • Whenever you identify a relevant opportunity

What should I do if I find outdated information? Please contact the ReLIFE Consortium so we can update our database for other users.

Can I rely solely on this database for my financial decisions? No. This database should be used as a starting point for research, not as the sole source of information for financial decisions.
