Performance Tips

If a smudge brush is slow, you can try these options:

Using Instant Preview! -

You find the setting here: "View -> Instant Preview Mode"

With this you can smudge with great performance, though beware that Krita will have to think for a bit after brush strokes, so it might slow down your performance otherwise. Remember to turn it off when you don't need it!

Increasing the brush spacing! -

Currently some brushes are set to very low values for the best wuality for modern hardware, but increasing the value up might help a ton! Higher number = better performance, but lower quality.

Brush Specific Tips

Peaks and Valleys - If you scale this up and use a blending mode like "Colour Dodge" or "Screen", you can use it as a glare/lens flare brush!

Squarebrush Gradient - If you want to make a drop shadow or ambient occlusion without having to use a lasso and an airbrush, you can use this brush to achieve the effect quickly! Just point the hard edge side to the crease/start of shadow, and the soft side will act as a falloff!
