Diffuse contaminant loads

Contaminant loads from leaching (diffuse loads) vary according to land use, land management, climate, terrain, and geology. Environment Southland have assessed the effects of these variables on diffuse loads and have prepared a table that provides an estimated diffuse load (in kg per year per hectare) based on multiple land attributes. This has enabled the preparation of a leach rate map of the region, which may be used in developing the CASM input data.
