Installation - Rackkoun/rainmeter-skin GitHub Wiki
In order to use rainru, you need to have Rainmeter and MSIAfterburner running in the background.
The rainru skin can be downloaded on my Github using this link.
Unzip the downloaded file (see pictures below) to your PC.
Then go to your "Documents" folder and create a subfolder with the name "Rainmeter" and copy the "Skins" folder from the unzipped "rainmeter-skin-main" folder to this new subfolder created as shown in the image below.
A current version of Rainmeter can be downloaded here and installed on your PC. Please leave the default options selected while installing Rainmeter (see pictures below).
If after completing the Rainmeter installation process, no widget appears on your desktop, don't be confused. Just check the notification bar to see if the Rainmeter icon is there (see the image below).
The latest version of MSIAfterburner can be downloaded here and installed on your PC. When installing MSIAfterburner, make sure to uncheck the "RivaTuner Statistics Server" installation option, as this feature is not required to use rainru (see image above).
NOTE: As shown in the image below, _MSIAfterburner_ offers different interfaces that you can choose in its settings after installing it. The last one from left to right is the one used in this tutorial. So your default interface after installation will be different from the one in the tutorial, don't be confused.
As with the Rainmeter, rainru requires MSIAfterburner to be launched automatically after the operating system is booted. Please enable this setting by locating the gear icon on the MSIAfterburner interface and clicking it.
The following window will appear.
In the section 'general properties' of the tab 'General', check the options "Start with windows" and "start minimized". And confirm your change by clicking on OK. So MSIAfterburner will automatically starts with Windows and be kept hidden in the Windows notification area (see image below).
If you currently load the widgets, some of them that require MSIAfterburner will display 0 as a value.
For this reason, the plugin for MSIAfterburner is needed. This file can be downloaded here.
To find out which file to choose, move your mouse cursor over the Windows start button and right click on it.
Then choose "System" from the menu that will appear. This will open the info window below.
If you see the number 64 on the type line of your operating system, then download the file "MSIAfterburner.dll" with the 64-bit version. And the other version in case you see another number.
Copy or move the downloaded "MSIAfterburner.dll" file to the Rainmeter plugins folder (C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Plugins) as shown in the image below.
A dialog box will appear when copying the file to this path, asking you to confirm your choice, confirm it to complete the process.
