Chapter 1- Introduction

The Accurate Scheduler is an easy-to-use application which controls the automated running of other programs on one or more computer servers. While it is primarily designed for use with other Accurate programs, it can be used to schedule any program. The Scheduler consists of two components:

  • The server: used to start and stop programs and monitor their progress.
  • The client: this is the User Program and is used to define which programs should be run and when they should be run. Both components store information in and read information from a database. The Scheduler requires a current Reconciliation database.

Overview of the User Program

The user defines “tasks” which start applications under one of the following conditions:

  • In response to a manual command
  • Automatically at a regular time
  • Automatically upon completion of another task
  • Automatically upon the occurrence of a condition defined by a script There are two main screens which display different information. The Schedulable Tasks screen lists the tasks that have been defined. The Started Tasks screen lists all tasks that have been started previously.
