The Bulgarian eID service requires multi-factor authentication by requiring the usage of the eID smartcard and a PIN. In addition, a password can be required.

The authentication on mobile platforms will be supported by using the NFC interface on the device or a challenge-response protocol based on SMS (in case that no NFC interface is available).
