The Seleucid Revolts

Breaks away: Seleucid Rebels (Asia Minor) and Seleucid Rebels (Upper Satrapies) from the Seleucid Empire

When a new Seleucid king comes to the throne, the Seleucid Empire's provinces in Asia Minor and the Upper Satrapies break away at once. Its settlements in Asia Minor go to the Seleucid Rebels already on the map, and those in the Upper Satrapies to a second Seleucid Rebels faction that does not exist at the start of the campaign.

It can happen in any campaign, whether the Seleucid Empire is played by a human or by the AI.

What sets it off

  • A general of the Seleucid Empire who carries the trait marking a new Seleucid king starts his turn; the revolt breaks out at that moment.

What happens

  • Every settlement the Seleucid Empire holds at that moment in Asia Minor rebels. Asia Minor covers 92 regions, of which 35 belong to the Seleucid Empire at the start of the campaign.
  • These settlements pass to the Seleucid Rebels, the faction that already holds 4 regions in Asia Minor from the start of the campaign. If Sardis is among them, the Seleucid Rebels receive 10,000 denarii.
  • Every settlement the Seleucid Empire holds at that moment in the Upper Satrapies rebels. The Upper Satrapies cover 55 regions, of which 28 belong to the Seleucid Empire at the start of the campaign.
  • These settlements pass to the second Seleucid Rebels faction. If Ekbatana is among them, it receives 10,000 denarii.
  • Settlements that go over to either rebel faction get a normal-strength garrison drawn from Seleucid Chalkaspides, Thureophoroi, Greek Hoplites, Greek Peltasts, Greek Archers, Seleucid Xystophoroi, Prodromoi and Neocretan Archers.
  • If any Upper Satrapies settlement rebels, the Parni surrender all their regions, unless a human is playing the Parni.
  • At the start of each of their turns, both Seleucid Rebels factions declare war on the Seleucid Empire if they are not already at war with it, except while they are dormant. For the first Seleucid Rebels faction this applies from the start of the campaign.
  • The revolt happens only once per campaign.

Playing as the rebels

No offer to take over the rebels is made when the revolt breaks out. Both Seleucid Rebels factions are playable factions.
