Breaks away: Ptolemaic Rebels from the Ptolemaic Empire

After the Egyptian revolt has broken out, the arrival of a new Ptolemaic king makes the Ptolemaic Empire's outer lands break away. Every settlement it then holds in the Levant and Cyrenaica, and Paraitonion, rebels and joins the Ptolemaic Rebels, who stay at war with the Ptolemaic Empire.

It can happen in any campaign once the Egyptian revolt has broken out, whether the Ptolemaic Empire is played by a human or by the AI.

What sets it off

• Once the Egyptian revolt has broken out, a general of the Ptolemaic Empire who carries the trait marking a new Ptolemaic king starts his turn; the revolt breaks out at that moment.

What happens

• Every settlement the Ptolemaic Empire holds at that moment in the Levant or in Cyrenaica rebels, and so does Paraitonion if the Ptolemaic Empire holds it.
• The Levant covers 44 regions, of which 24 belong to the Ptolemaic Empire at the start of the campaign. Cyrenaica covers 6 regions, which at the start belong to Cyrene (5) and the Free Peoples (1). Paraitonion, in Hesperos Aigyptos, belongs to the Free Peoples at the start. These only rebel if the Ptolemaic Empire has taken them by then.
• These settlements pass to the Ptolemaic Rebels, a faction that does not exist at the start of the campaign, with a normal-strength garrison drawn from Akontistai, Greek Slingers, Greek Archers, Greek Peltasts, Greek Hoplites, Thureophoroi, Ptolemaic Machairophoroi, Ptolemaic Klerouchoi Phalangites, Ptolemaic Klerouchoi Agema, Ptolemaic Basilikon Agema, Prodromoi, Ptolemaic Xystophoroi and Ptolemaic Agema Cavalry.
• If Philadelpheia is among the settlements that join them, the Ptolemaic Rebels receive 10,000 denarii.
• At the start of each of their turns, the Ptolemaic Rebels declare war on the Ptolemaic Empire if they are not already at war with it, except while they are dormant.
• The revolt happens only once per campaign.

Playing as the rebels

No offer to take over the rebels is made when the revolt breaks out. The Ptolemaic Rebels are a playable faction.
