Project Rename

TWF is the working title of this app. It should be renamed.

The future name of the app should reflect:

  • The app's focus and capabilities
  • Its ties to the Humanities

Proposition: CLERQ

  • Could stand for: Collect, Label, Enrich, Review, Query
  • Is a taken name (not in the Humanities, though)

Proposition: RHEON

RHEON (RISE Hub for Enrichment, Organization, and Normalization) ist eine modulare Workflow-Plattform zur strukturierten Verarbeitung geisteswissenschaftlicher Korpora.

Entwickelt am RISE der Universität Basel, unterstützt RHEON die nachhaltige Transformation von Rohmaterial – z.B. Transkriptionen, Faksimiles – in strukturierte, annotierte und exportierbare Datenformate.

Der Name RHEON verbindet zwei Ebenen:

  • ῥέω – altgriechisch für "fliessen" – steht für die kontrollierten Datenflüsse und Verarbeitungsschritte in RHEON
  • gleichzeitig erinnert der Name an den Rhein, der Basel durchquert – ein Fluss, der sowohl lokal verwurzelt als auch weitreichend verbindend ist

Damit bringt RHEON den Basler Kontext, den geisteswissenschaftlichen Anspruch und den infrastrukturellen Anspruch zusammen – oder wie es in unserer Tagline heisst:

From corpus to structured data.
